Nope, we actually need refs like Gene Serratore was... communicate, common sense and don't influence the outcome, let the players decide it.  That's all I want from an official, and when in doubt.... keep the flag in your pocket.  Egregious, and play affecting infractions are called... that's it.  And procedural things like illegal shifts, illegal formations, etc.

I just want the eye in the sky like the AFL did. Just take a quick look at the game altering 15 yard penalty and make sure it was actually warranted.

Its super simple and it worked great in the AFL (or whatever summer league)

I appreciate NFL refs for the most part but they need oversite like everyone else.

I'm fine with them getting some calls wrong if they can be overruled in an instant.

The league decided you can kill punters now. Everything is 5 yards. Maybe make a 5 yard and no first down penalty for a light shove that was 1/8th of a second too late?

Keep the 15 for vicious head shots and going at the knees or Old testament Reggie White jumping on Phil Simms. (it was legal back then and we loved it)

It’s tricky.  By the book, that was a penalty.  Was it charmin ultra soft?  Yes.  Should it have been called?  I say no.  But how can you overturn something that is a penalty by the book?

Lots of PI by the book on most plays too.  Some called, some sneak through.  The eye in the sky can’t overturn a soft PI call (think SB Bradberry) when it is illegal contact by the book.

I’m convinced that game today is how the Super Bowl would have ended last season if they didn’t throw the Bradberry flag.

AFL Champions in '64 and '65.

Close to always.

No chance in hell anybody that saw that is still alive after 1994

Bad calls can be phantom calls, soft calls, missed calls, or bad spots.

True phantom calls are pretty rare.  And impactful bad spots can be challenged.  No calls can be pretty bad and egregious, but generally fans get the most outraged at soft calls.

And the problem with soft calls is that they are usually rooted in some degree of reality…hits that are in fact late, contact when there can’t be contact, hands pulling so slightly during a block.  The hits and the contact might be laughably negligible…but they are there so it’s a slippery slope to have another eye somewhere that picks up the flag.

Love the Kelly greens but I hope they tweak them and make them and the helmet a tiny bit darker. They’re just a smidgen away from being perfect.

My Bills fan wife watching the game today: "Eww those jerseys look like the Jets, why would they want to do that?”

You married Christina Lurie?

Broncos might be the one weirder team than ours.

Small price to pay for season tickets and a stake in the Eagles.

Wow Justin tucker just shanked a fg

Jake > Tucker

Tucker just missed a 44 yard FG. All hail Jake

After watching it 4-5 times, I think I agree.  Hurts hit OZ in the chest after scrambling 20 yards away from his throwing side and directing him where to go, on the run.  Absolutely amazing play.

Justin Tucker missed a FG, as a result I am officially anointing Jake Elliott as the GOAT kicker.

You may applaud.

I said this two weeks ago, their defense is a hell of a lot better since that performance. The last 6 games they’ve been ridiculously good. If you look at their schedule, they could get to 10 wins. Got at houston, at chargers, at lions, vs. New England, vs. chargers and at raiders. Really if they go 1-2 in the next 3 they could win all 3 down the stretch.

Yea Hurts did direct him on that.

OZ can’t really get open.  Like at all.  He’s not a big catch radius guy.  He’s not someone who makes people miss and can be schemed into space.

But this is his second huge off script deep TD this year.  So he clearly is pretty intuitive and in sync with Hurts in these scramble drill situations.

Free runner on 4th down isn't exactly what you want

Did Quez play today?

Also…someone should watch Julio on the all-22.  I haven’t really followed him, but I just wonder if he’s a total stationary object that is wasting the offense’s time.

Chargers are really dumb. It’s 3rd and 6. You can run on 3rd to make it closer to 4th and short. Instead two throws when your oline hasn’t held up well all game.
