I missed most of the 3rd quarter because of my son's birthday party.  Kids definitely get in the way of football watching, LOL.

Was that a horse collar?  Per the rule book, for that to be a horse collar tackle, Allen needed to be outside of the pocket (he was), and Reddick needed to grab him at or above the name on his jersey (he did).

He has to pull him down violently. Unless Allen was wearing his jersey backwards, he pulled him down from the front, not the back, ergo, no penalty.

Tbh if he should’ve just sat out the year and went back into it next year. I’m guessing there’s multiple better jobs out there then panthers. like chargers and potentially bills. Frankly I’d want no part of that panthers job prior to bryce young. I really don’t want it now that we have a lack of picks and who knows what young is.

Young is short.   He'll never be worth what they paid to get him.   Bryce Young is 5'10".   Doug Flutie was also 5'10".   There's a reason he went to the CFL to play.   And there's a reason why he never amounted to much of anything in the NFL when he came back.  He won a few games here and there... but nothing to write home about.

Maybe but they used the WR screen a fair amount over the last 2 seasons.  I think they run it to help set the fake one which is what Devonte scored on.  You may be right, though.  They definitely are taking a different approach on first down runs.

The WR screens are a zone buster in theory - but you got block and that’s a challenge when the tendency is well known.

So is Leonard still meeting with Dallas today or did Howie re-route him?

I read he’s meeting DAL tomorrow, unless Howie is rerouting the flight.

I didn’t like young. I thought he’d be a serviceable starter if given the right pieces. I liked stroud. I thought he was different than the previous OSU QBs that came into the nfl. Why i said the lions should make that move cause lions would get to where the rams got to with Goff and realize they need a better Qb to get over the top. Stroud might have bust but his potential to be that was worth taking the risk then the known that Goff isn’t gonna be good enough to win a SB. In hindsight they also could’ve traded Goff with the amount of injuries and got some of the capital back.

Just like the rule was intended…

5'10, 180 lbs, non-plus arm, no blazing speed ........ but smart.  He's really smart.

Young is pretty much the ultimate Alabama QB, he looked great throwing to the best receivers In college football while nestled behind one of the best O Lines in college football. When they hit the big league on an average to bad team they struggle mightily for a couple of years and then either float like Hurts/Tua or slip quietly beneath the waves like Mac Jones (who never really had a  chance with a GM who drafts Receiver's like Bellichick does).

That set up down field shot off of the slip screen was pure gold.

Good, thanks.  I believe that was the right call.

The rule book really just says 'grabbing at or above the name', it doesn't say anything about doing so violently, but I do get your point.  He was kind of pulled down from the side, not from the back.

I rewatched the offensive snaps with a focus on Driscoll. He was terrible. No less than 4 Bills ate his lunch on pass rushes.

The best the right side looked was when he was a 2nd line blocker after someone else passed the edge off to him or when the motion TE (usually Stoll) did his job for him.

The Hurts pick was on a right side pressure where Stoll ignored the guy (could be RPO design or could be really bad OT)

The team played and succeeded left handed (away from Driscoll) for the most part.

There was one play where they went left left left on a bunch of plays and then faked left and countered a bootleg pass to Stoll so using Driscoll being bad at football set up a counter play.. go Driscoll?

He had a few good sets or pulls in the run game and he set the edge nicely on one TD pass so he was not a 10 rated trash fire but he was high 30s low 40s terrible in pass blocking.

He was probably in the 50s or 60s run blocking.

He was clearly the worst player on the filed when the Eagles were on offense.

Delusions of his grandeur and personal insults arising from those delusions is a really bad look.

No.   Read it carefully... as no one seems to be able to in the national media...

https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-rulebook/#article-16-horse-collar-tackle

No player shall grab the inside collar of the back or the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, or grab the jersey at the name plate or above, and pull the runner toward the ground. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket.

Reddick FIRST grabbed the FRONT of Allen's jersey, and maintained control of that grasp of the jersey (as evidenced by the jersey ripping).
Reddick as he's taking Allen to the ground puts his hand on the name plate (correct), but there is no PULL on the nameplate but rather a PUSH on the nameplate as he continued to pull Allen to the ground by the front of his jersey.  In other words, while there was CONTACT on the nameplate, the direction of the force was in the wrong direction.   The pulling hand was not the one on the nameplate, and therefore, there is no foul for a horse collar tackle.

Young didn't have an elite offensive line nor WRs of the quality that Bama was producing on the regular. Bama hasn't had an elite offensive line in years now.

Jeff really needs to open up the wallet and get Frank in the Vic consultant role ASAP. That could end up being the biggest acquisition of the year. He knows how to create plans to put the QB in the best position to succeed. Johnson isn't cutting it and it could be the difference this year.

Well - with toddlers you want them to stay away from the hard liquor until they are fully potty trained.

Tra Thomas thinks he did fine. No offense, but Thomas may know a little bit more about oline play than you do.

Looking at the one seed in the afc it’s fascinating. I think comes down to KC and jags. KC has the easiest schedule of the 4 8-3 teams. if the jags can beat the ravens at home in 3 weeks and handle their business against inferior opponents there’s a good chance they can be the no. 1 seed if KC loses again.

jags: vs. bengals, at browns, vs. ravens, vs tampa, vs Carolina and at titans

KC: at Gb, vs. buffalo, at NE, Vs raiders, vs. bengals, at chargers

ravens: vs  rams, at jags, at Sf, vs  Miami and vs Steelers

dolphins: at Washington, vs. titans, vs. jets, vs. cowboys, at Baltimore and vs. bills

Bills fans are melting down about it.  It was absolutely the right call.  First, Reddick does not look like he has a grip on the back of the jersey. He has his arm there but his fist is closed and I don't see the jersey in his grasp.  The second point is that the only thing he could have been doing with that back arm is pushing him.  He was pulling him with the other arm.  Allen landed on his stomach.  They are also complaining about the grounding call when the ball landed 6 inches from where Allen threw it.  Gabe Davis was like 8 yards away.

The plays that are pretty clearly designed by Johnson actually look pretty awesome. Starting to wonder if the vitriol should be pointed at Siri who also has the headset on and overrides Johnson on game day.

I see this nonsense on social media, too.  The purpose of the horsecollar rule was the prevent guys from getting pulled to the ground from the back, which is a dangerous tackle.  That's not what Reddick did here.  Romo is stirring the pot for this one, and he's a tool.  The 'non-fumble' in OT also wasn't that close.
