I wish someone asked Anthony Harris how he ended up on the injury report with "Hands/Groin"

Who else remembers how stupid the Eagles were for not picking A.J. Epenesa when they had the chance and reached for a player they could have gotten in the fifth round? That common refrain lasted for a good while.

Don't remember him being in the discussion, but I do remember Jeremy Chinn.

I agree with ipiggles in that it was indeed a zero blitz with boths LBs coming. I also agree with you that their defensive play call, combined with Swift's pre-snap motion, forced the Bills to overcommit (I don't see the coverage bust angle that others are seeing.) Though I don't see both safeties reacting to the motion as you mentioned, only Hyde alone, and I'll explain why.

In the first screenshot, it seems he's assigned to Swift with the other safety on OZ, and the NCB on Stoll.

As Swift motions, rather than tip their hand even further by having Hyde travel with him, the LB motions for the NCB to switch off of Stoll and take Swift instead. This means Hyde is now responsible for Stoll instead of Swift, with everyone else maintaining their initial assignments. I think it was Romo that said the play was designed to have the NCB blitz from the slot originally but on a second look, I don't think that's the case (would've been awfully late for that type of adjustment but not entirely implausible I suppose.)

So the reason why Hurts has tons of space on the backside is precisely because we caught McDermott with his hand in the cookie jar and BJ called the perfect counter to a zero blitz. Reminder: On a zero, nobody has eyes on the QB, let alone is assigned to him, and it's a testement to Hyde's awareness that he even got as close as he did to Hurts because he sniffed out the screen action pre-snap and kinda half-commited to Stoll (incidentally, if it's a quick out to Stoll instead of a screen with the same pre-snap motion, then it's an easy pitch and catch for at least 5 yards because Hyde is caught in no-man's land being so far away from him.)

I didn't go back to check, but what I saw was the two middle defenders both going with the motion man... your drawing would seem to indicate the LB is blitzing, where I saw him as covering the back, along with the deep safety.    Hence why I said it was a coverage bust, because I figured there was no way that BOTH were supposed to man up on him.      But if the LB is blitzing and just moving with the motion to make it seem like he's in coverage and not blitzing, then I stand corrected.

I am going to take a bit of a leap here and I might get blasted by you guys but I can take it. Here is my take regarding the offense and the play calling, only because it seems to be a bit of a contentious subject amongst the community here...especially during games.

Tensions always run high while the game is underway.     But if you think that is contentious you should have been around for the "Elite" QB debate of 2009.  And the necessary, 'elite vs franchise' QB debate that ensued afterwards.

It really doesn't seem like we're all that interested. We're down Dean/Cunningham and set to play against the biggest threat in the NFL to LB's, and the most proactive approach is "eh, we'll meet with him later in the week." Even if he signs here, is he going to play at all this week without practicing?

He wasn't likely to play here this Sunday even if he was signed the same day he was cut.

Has there ever been an "unsuccessful meeting"? What would that entail, a brawl?

Both Hyde and the playside LB slide with Swift pre-snap but I believe that's because Hyde switches with the NCB who now has Swift, and Hyde is taking Stoll. Not sure why the blitzing LB shifts but could be so that he's rushing in the playside B-gap rather than the A-gap to protect against a hand-off to Swift on an outiside zone? Not sure on that, but would be curious if Duffy or anyone has any thoughts there, or if Dermott has mentioned anything about this particular play yet. The pre-snap alignment is interesting because Hyde and both LBs are lined up on the weakside, making it seem like it's a cover-2 look, possibly to disguise their blitz I'm guessing. But the motion forces them to shift and they get caught with their pants down when Kelce kicks out to erase the backside rusher. and everyone else is in another zip code.

Roby was signed and played 5 days later, even though he wasn't in the league for over a month. I think they would find a role for him, especially down Cunningham, over a week later.

You left out the definition of "mobile QB".

Don't think money is going to be the sticking point here, Leonard will sign with what team has offered more snaps.

I think Hurts' legs has even more to do with it. Last year when plays didn't work, he'd take off and run for 5 or 6 yards, giving the Eagles 2nd or 3rd and manageable. This season he hasn't been able to do that. The Eagles are almost unstoppable when they have 2nd and 3rd for 5 or fewer yards because all they need to get is 4 yards because then they'll do the tush push on 4th down.

This season Hurts isn't gaining chunks with his legs. That's been the biggest difference. When people say the offense flowed better last year, that's what's missing.

Yeah - have a 4x30 which has a wide view but is kind of weak for the effort.

I bought a 4x set a couple years ago with a very very wide view, not necessarily because I wanted to use it but because I was curious to see how wide the angle actually was. (Angle width is a priority for me.) The downside is that there isn't any focus adjustment so you just have to live with what it gives you. I took it to a preseason game just to see what it's like. As you noted, it doesn't give you much in the way of magnification compared to regular binoculars but the field of view is definitely impressive.

I'm not sure I'll ever use them but I might loan them to a family member (child) who might find them useful.

Now that I think about it, maybe it would have been useful on Sunday. Being virtually "new" it's possible it wouldn't have fogged up and become useless like my other ones proved to be. Something to consider for the Niners game with rain in the long range forecast.

         1)    PHIPHI win + LARLAR loss/tie
OR    2)    PHIPHI win + GBGB loss/tie + DETDET loss
OR    3)    PHIPHI tie + GBGB loss/tie + LARLAR loss + NONO loss/tie
OR    4)    PHIPHI tie + GBGB loss/tie + LARLAR loss + ATLATL loss/tie

First Clinching Scenarios for Sunday.

I am still not convinced I want Dallas to sign Leonard. It seems like a risk I wouldn't want them to take. I know the front office said they were heavily scrutinizing his health prior to inviting him for the visit so they must feel like he is good to go to host him today.

If it is a win/win contract great, if not, let someone else take the risk.

If The Eagles go 1-1 over the next two weeks, they likely lock up #1 Seed, because it's unlikely they would lose more than 1 more the rest of the way.  Meaning they would finish 14-3...

Given that Proposition- going 1-1 in the next 2 weeks.... which sscenario would you rather have

WIn againts the Whiners/Lose to the Cowboys

Or Lose to the Whiners and Sweep the Cowboys?

Me: I'd rather win this game against the Whiners and lose to Boys at their house... Just to shut up all the obnoxious Whiner fans and media types...

And the Niners have a way easier schedule the rest of the way and are less likely to lose another game. VS the Cowboys who have several tough games ahead after next weeks game.

Win against the 49ers and we can lose 2 more games (ex: Dallas and Seattle) and still be the #1 seed.

Yeh, still getting used to that. I replied to Diehard (I think it was Diehard) during the game when he said it was "too little too late" after the Eagles TD with a couple of minutes left in the 3rd qtr...I think he was in a bad place at the time.

This board during the games is just insane...😁, but a great way to share and enjoy a game with folks from all over.
