I figure the operating profit for most NBA franchises is less than a $100M/yr… big number, but $3.5B now and you still have the team to toy with.

Yeah I guess I just don't understand why the new majority owners would cede final say and control over basketball operations when you are paying $3.5B for it.  The Daniel Snyder type things that have come out in recent years about the Mavs, not like he does great job of running things there to keep him running the ship of this expensive asset.

Seahawks beat Dallas

Eagles beat 49ers

Eagles play Cowboys to clinch the division and possibly the NFC.

He knows how to sell high. Like he did with his dot com to start his fortune.

They have a larger vision in mind.  Would not be surprised to hear about them moving to Vegas in the future.  Stadium, Casino, hotel, restaurants, shopping, golf course all in one.  Won't be long  they start talking about how out of date current arena is, need a new one, need to allow sports gambling, etc.  Cuban holds a seat and uses his connections to help move the plan forward and he keeps a piece of the team.

Agreed, good deal for him - on the other side of the ledger the profit margin for owning a franchise especially if heavily financed doesn’t quite add up.

Don't remember hearing it live but the Hurts TD on the Eagles opening drive was the first rushing TD by an opposing QB that the Bills defense had allowed since the 2021 season.  And then Hurts got the game winner in OT on like a 10-25 yard TD run.

Nolan Smith needs to learn to get slippery.  His speed is incredible.  He can bend and get low.  Just needs to work on hand fighting and angles of attack so an OT never gets a chance to body him.  He needs to be one of those guys that makes the OL feel like they are lunging at mist.

If the first 2 happen, the game against Dallas won’t even be that meaningful.

Going into Dallas and winning seems tough for Seattle.

We are going to beat the Niners IMO.  But Im always drunk on the green I just used the EMB's #1 Cliché.

If you were to rank the most valuable players on this team through 11 games….where would you place Jake Elliott?

5th one of the year.  Absolutely unreal.  There's a game in Seattle too so chances are that one is rain too.

I hope youre not counting the Jets game because it didnt rain in East Rutheford that day.

Don’t you think hiring Reich will be seen as a slap at our OC?

No. That is not the way this approach is wired.  Not hiring him as a coach but rather an asset.  Patricia could have had the impact you suggest on Desai.  Fangio on Gannon.  But that isn’t the approach. Rather here is a guy to advise.  Since Howie uses experienced guys as advisers, I think the coaches buy in.  Nick talks to other coaches to make the overall approach better. (AR in post bye success, for example.)

I recall numerous situations in my career, where I was in a senior advisor role.  Supplement not take charge role.  Resource to be drawn upon. Somehow the Eagles have figured out how to maximize that. I am really not surprised.  I think coaching, as a profession, depends so much on a conglomeration of cooperative input so this is a natural progression.  The day that it becomes ego and my way or the highway is the day the staff takes a downward turn. I ****, probably more than I should, about Howie but acknowledge he seems to seek counsel.  Hopefully he has outgrown the need for that to be a consensus. I truly hope Donahoe refusing the fist pump was the final learning step on that.

Nope.  We 'all' didn't.  He was my guy that year.   I would have been happy with him or Earl Thomas.  Graham started slow, but unlike JPP whom a ton of people went gaga over due to his gymnastics routine.   BG proved at UM that he could be a run stuffer as well as a pass rusher.  And that was more valuable to me than a straight pass rusher (aka, JPP).

Thomas also needed that special ‘sauce’ in Seattle along with the rest of the cast there to look as good as he did.  He was incredibly overrated IMO.  3rd or 4th best player on that D.

Probably somewhere in the top 10 but not top 5.

I remember protecting that selection a bit as well. Graham was awesome at Michigan and I was a fan leading into that draft. However, the way the team was constructed at the time, I would've preferred Thomas if I had to choose one guy as the S spot was a glaring hole. Would've been really interesting to see how things would've turned out if we went that route instead. Thomas was a great player as a rookie and then pro bowler for the next five years straight.

Thomas was a product of the system in Seattle and roids.  He would have came here and more than likely flamed out or busted.  He couldn’t tackle his own shadow coming out of college and worrying about only a small portion of the field because he had Kam, Wagner and Sherman out there certainly helped him.

I had him around 14, which is pretty wild.

Teppers comments today managed to both make him and his FO completely incompetent as well as throwing the QB you stupidly traded up for under the bridge at the same time.

Very impressive.

Earl Thomas? Never got popped for roids from what I recall. Whole defense was probably on Adderall, but I don't think he or anyone else there ever tested positive for anabolics.

It should finally be getting to some good stuff about now.

Favors us.  They are a speed team. A bit lighter and a bit faster?

And we would be on our 3rd straight rain game.

Odd question. Does the rain tamp down the sound or make it louder?  Surely the extra drinking caused by having to attend in the rain should make it louder.  😉

Rain games are definitely quieter. Fans are simply too miserable. They’ll definitely cheer at appropriate moments but there isn’t the energy for sustained noise.

He blew the Jets game so he’s dead to me.

Odd situation in the NBA where Mark Cuban just sold majority stake in the Mavs for $3.5B but he remains a minority owner with full control of basketball operations.

Hallelujah! Can I get an amen? Wait…how long does he retain control?

Its an open secret at this point that the new Las Vegas NBA franchise will be with LeBron as the owner.  Plus Dallas is one of thr largest markets in the country with the beat aborts fans in the world.
