He’s the best box LB, by far, and the only other off ball LB who might be drafted higher is his teammate Barrett Carter due to his speed and versatility.

44th player according to whom? I’ve seen him crack the top 20 in some rankings. I think he goes somewhere in the 25-40 range, probably 30-35, right where we will likely pick.

Better than Junior Colson? I don’t think so.

According to the colts fans, he has no burst or lateral agility left.  I wouldn't expect much from him.

Definitely. At least IMO. And Colson is a non factor as a playmaker on top of it.

Jennifer Slay a low-key top-tier recruiter.

Wow. Great loss. Of course, he was 99.

The Eagles don't have to pay him any money to announce that, do they?

We disagree.

According to everyone Cunningham was washed too.  I'm not taking the word of fans as gospel.

I know tackles aren't everything but looks like he was putting up some decent stats when he played before he got cut

I'm not the biggest Shaq Leonard guy at this stage in his career, but if Cunningham is hurt, we MUST sign him. We're one injury away from Ben Vansumeren playing real snaps. He was bad in pre-season.

That sounds well and good. However, Johnson has gotten a LOT of criticism for his play calling. I’m just concerned that this will be taken as something to prop him up. It’s his first time as a pro OC and, while I see plenty of evidence that he is learning as he goes - witness the red zone improvement - others may not. His scripted plays need a lot of work, for example. OTOH, if Johnson is truly OK with it, sure, bring him on. Hiring Patricia seems to have done no harm.

Point taken.  I just note how the Eagles have done with the consultant position.  Ultimately, you are absolutely correct that is about managing how BJ would receive the move.

Exactly and Vansumeren is out of elevations so they'd not to committ to signing him as the 3rd LB on the 53.  Leonard might be a shell of what he was but there really doesn't seem like an alternative as far as LB.  They could play Nolan Smith & Sidney Brown some snaps there but you still physically need a 3rd LB on the roster.  That's even thin.

I'm sure he can still tackle if the play if right in front of him.  It is more that he has lost multiple steps.  I guess we will find out.

Teams really should stop calling time outs to ice him.

It made no sense in that situation either. He should have kept the timeout to have 2 with 25 seconds left or whatever the time was. Instead he probably just gave Elliott some extra time to figure out the wind swirls.

As great as Devonta has been doing, AJ is still our best WR. We need to get him involved early like Donovan said.  Since Dallas, it seems teams are really trying to take AJ out of it.  Jalen and the O can't allow them.  Quick slants, some early passes to get him going.  But again, Thankfully Devonta filled the void these last 3 games.

Imo part of the reason the passing game has been horrible for the halves then looks good for a quarter or two is because it’s hard for just one player to carry it. With goedert already out, if aj brown is essentially taken away the. You have limited options in the passing game. Smith is really good but it’s much easier to defend the eagles down goedert and doing everything to eliminate AJ. if it’s just smith not much else scares you. Frankly think they need to get swift more screens and touches in the passing game until goedert returns. I also think next offseason getting an upgrade to their 3rd wr position is necessary. Julio, Watkins and Oz aren’t 3rd WRs at this stages of their careers. Better as 4th options or 5th options. And really julio doesn’t play special teams so hard to have your 4th or 5th wr not play them.

I’m surprised they let a gang member gave a one day retirement contract

If he has offset language in his contract it will cost us zero dollars to sign him. Howie has added Robey and Byard in season, both excellent additions. Why not Leonard?

The lack of urgency with the Shaq Leonard thing seems weird to me. Dallas plays tomorrow so he's obviously not playing for them this week and the Eagles need a LB but signing today would take a roster spot for a guy who still might not be able to play for them this week.

My guess is Eagles would want to sign him to the PS first and sign him to the 53 in a week or two. But the lack or urgency does seem weird. We’ll see if he gets signed today or takes it into the weekend like the one report said.

Are you new to the blog? Don’t you know that screens are frowned upon in here?😳

Jeff should have stepped in when Chip wanted to cut him for nothing.

Yep I saw someone mention PS online and that would make sense if he wasn't playing this week.  There are only 6 weeks every week is significant.  Is he really going to sign somewhere else to be a backup LB for a playoff run?  The other possibility is that his physical isn't great and that Dallas didn't even make an offer
