They are second tier for a reason - either lacking polish or measurables (maybe injury history in terms of Morgan) - I prefer a prospect from the super talented column with the hedge that Stout will have some time to coach them up.

I hear ya. Usually I'm in that thinking as well but this upcoming years crop looks really good to me. By the time the combine rolls around some of these second tier guys will be pushing into that top tier and be first rounders. That's my prediction at least.

Whose the odd man out then? No way we have 7 active WR's on gameday.

Probably Julio.  Besides one TD catch he has done absolutely nothing.

He may not even get elevated from the practice squad so no one has to be the odd man out just yet.

I still think CB is a major and immediate need. Slay & Bradberry are not what they used to be and although I like our young group, there's no one I see as a guy that separated themselves to be handed a starting spot, yet at least.

Still, we know this teams motto, build from the inside out. DE is interesting and could be immediate depending on what happens with the contracts of our current starters. I'm assuming Graham will not be back. If Sweat & Reddick are extended then I'd guess DE slides below CB & OL.

I still find myself looking at DT. I love the idea of the best interior rotation in the game. Cox is probably gone, Williams will be coming up on free agency soon and may be priced out. I wouldn't hate adding another quality DT to the line, maybe one who's versatile that could also play DE at times.

If Lane stays relatively healthy over the next few years, he's extended through 2027, maybe we find our next stud guard similar to Landon establishing himself at LG. The earlier o-lineman that I really like who can start at guard and move over if/when needed:

Taliese Fuaga ; JC Latham ; Amarius Mims ; Jordan Morgan

While I understand your desire for an OT who can start at guard and then move over to tackle if/when needed, I would much prefer to see 2024 play out as one more year of kelce at Center and Jurgens starting at RG.  In that scenario Steen continues to develop as the succession plan at IOL.  I would prefer that any Tackle we draft concentrates 100% on Tackle.  Any cross training of that drafted player would be RT to LT cross training.

Geno has regressed this season after a career year last year.  If you get pressure on him, he tends to make some really stupid decisions.  DAL will likely get pressure from their DL, so I doubt SEA will seriously threaten them.

I am not sure how good the Seattle OLine is but the Cowboys currently have the top Edge & DT PRWR in Micah and Osa Odighizuwa...again, anything I post in here comes with the disclaimer "they haven't played/beaten anyone yet". We'll see if some these performances hold up against better competition in the next 5 weeks starting tonight.

I just jumped onto the "we need an o-lineman" wagon since it was being discussed and some of these guys look like they could be great fits for us. Now of course I'd prefer Kelce to stay another year but I think the chances of that are seriously low and I'm not going to get any hopes up.

You could do the same with Dallas, take out teams that are drafting top 6, and is Dallas even averaging 20ppg on the road?

I’m guessing they probably play closer to what they looked like Dallas, SF, chargers and Arizona on the road than Carolina. Especially if Miami has Ramsey and Howard healthy.

I agree that offensive tackle is a need for this team. It's important that they find a quality successor to Lane Johnson at right tackle. However, that being said, is it *really* a 2024 draft need, something that has to be done immediately?

I honestly don't think the wheels would fall off if the team runs back the same core eight offensive lineman next year without adding anything significant. Going status quo for one more year while addressing the even more important DE (has anyone even noticed how barren this group actually is?) and CB needs might be the better strategy.

Speaking of the draft, what's the consensus on this Lions-Saints game? Who are we rooting for? Playoff positioning advantages (hope the Lions lose) or better second round pick (hope the Saints lose)? I think I'm going to root against the Saints and just hope the Eagles will take care of their own business and not have to worry about the Lions.

I don't disagree with your bolded statement, but I don't think Driscoll is going to be a good value at any new free agent contract he gets.  So keeping the eight together will be a challenge.

No clue. Julio probably should get cut. Maybe he is in place of a TE What f injuries hit down the line.

This one is a little more specific, but can you guess the last time Dallas won an away game against team that won double digit games that year? (Which Miami is certain To do)

No idea...my best guess would be 2016, but I am guessing it's been longer than that.

The Eagles draft 2 years out, so any player drafted in 2024 will be expected to start in 2025. By that point, Lane might be retired and Mailata will be in the last year of his contract. We can trade/sign players to fill holes like RBs, LB, S, etc.

I'm rooting for the Lions on Sunday. The Saints not making the playoffs is worth 10+ spots in draft position. Also, we have the tie-breaker over the Lions if we win one of the Dallas/Seahawks games or we don't and they lose one of 3 games vs. Vikings/Cowboys/Vikings. That Packers' loss was brutal for them in trying to get the #1 seed.

Regarding your bolded comment, I couldn't agree more.  Detroit needs to thrash the Saints ... ideally demoralizing them going forward.  Huthinson needs to terrorize the Saints' QBs.

I said last week i think Julio Jones gets released at some point. He doesn’t give you anything special teams. If he’s really not that good anymore what at this stage of his career he’s not better than Oz or Watkins. It’s not worth keeping a guy who really is a fourth or fifth type  Wide receiver now and doesn’t play special teams. Sadly i was hoping he could be a good 3rd wr. Frankly i think he’s just completely washed at this stage.

No it was 2016, Dak’s rookie season. 11-5 boat picture giants

Wow so you just want to abandon the screen game I guess

I'm fine taking an OT prospect in the 1st.  You're right, guys will get pushed up, other guys will stay in school.  I don't think this is a position where teams will wait until the 2nd round just because the crop is slightly deeper than normal (for now).

This Cowboys fan reminds me of that Packera fan that was here for a like a month.

I think the difference is (1) he is here for good, and (2) he knows more about football than that Packers fan will ever know., (3) he doesn't talk about teams he talks about players and plays.

He has been a great addition to the Blog.

They worked him out yesterday

By my count they only have 14 players on the Practice Squad.  Sims makes 15.  Room for one more signing.  Leonard?

I’m for getting rid of it if we can safely execute the annexation of Puerto Rico

Myles Jack sitting on the Steelers practice squad. No mention of that. He has to be totally washed at this point. Could have come in pretty quick and filled in for this week. I am expecting a better Ellis this week, with more reps in practice.

I'm not so sure about that. Someone like Jordan Morgan may be there or available into the 20's where we could trade up without giving up a ton. I like some of these second tier tackles this year, quite a bit actually, the top 2 guys in Alt & Fashanu obviously aren't realistic. But a second tier player may be there or within striking distance of a reasonable trade up.

The OT from Oregon State is one I think could be a great late 1st Round pick.

Just an observation.  Not a complaint or anything.  We had a Packers fan for a bit that was very non confrontational that would post here quite often.

He was non-confrontational, but his football knowledge was pretty damn weak.  Nobody noticed when he went away.

Just keep transferring

He’ll have to give up his Nasty Nate trophy if he plays well.

He came out of retirement to join the Steelers instead of staying here. He's not going to sign back here a week later.
