I'm nearly halfway down a bottle of Stoli. F it. My misplaced courage says we beat some Dallas ass next week.

How many of us truly expected a win today? We've needed a reality check for weeks now. Let's hope this prompts some much-needed changes in game planning, play-calling, and more. The last thing we want is for the staff to write off this loss as a fluke, leaving us equally flat against Dallas.

Someone in this thread shared a post where eagles have a losing record with this officiating crew. Not saying that’s why they lost but hopefully we don’t see them again.

Hopefully, we sign Leonard, Ertz and Suh.  This team needs some improvement.

I don't know that Leonard still has it but it can't be worse.  Getting Cunningham back hopefully will help but even then offenses are attacking the middle of the field.

Julio Jones does literally nothing for this team.  Might as well be able to line up in 2 TE sets.

Marlon ain't cutting it.  We need another DT in the rotation that can eat up snaps.

Listen we played 3 games in 13 days and against a team that had a 10 games rest.  I have confidence this team will bounce back next week.  Win next week and get our mojo back.

Correct.  He's an upgrade on Ellis.  And that's what we are dealing with out there right now.

I'd rather have Ertz than Julio or Calcaterra.

And the DTs have had too many snaps... Cox, Davis and Carter need a 4th disruptor.   Suh can bring that for 20 snaps.

And let's go.

And this lead up to the Cowboys... everybody get the extra treatment and get your bodies as strong as you can.

Well boys that was an absolute ass kicking. At least Hurts isn’t hurt and we have a chance to settle things next week.

I don’t…that would be stupid

Lazy, complacent offense.

Soft defense.

Something has to change.

Just thank whatever god you believe in they won the last two games they probably should have lost also.

I’ve been saying for a while this team might keep winning and we can just gloss over all the issues but you can’t show up for portions of games against a team like the niners and win. I say the same Thing vs Dallas. We were fortunate to get the stop at the goal line and Dak stepping out. And managed to just hang on for dear life cause they didn’t play the 4th quarter like the other 3 quarters.

there is multiple problems with this team talent wise. they do lack talent on the defensive side of the ball. Particularly at safety and particularly at linebacker. More i watch Reed against better offenses, the more I think he’s just an average starting safety. He can be your Epps but you better have someone playing better than byard and brown. Byard has declined in performance from 2022 to 2023. That’s just the reality. Brown like i said during training camp isn’t ready and you are asking a lot of a rookie to just step in after injuries in the heart of the schedule.

not having a slot corner is an issue. roby is just about finished. He really is just a jag out there at this point in his career. Maddox continuously getting hurt is an issue. He is unreliable. Need to move on and find yourself a more reliable slot corner so you don’t have to McGiver it every year for large portions of the season

But really their biggest issues are at linebacker. can’t cover anybody and they just have no athleticism. And you can say oh well, it’s a league wide problem. It’s not a league wide problem for teams that actually have invested in the position. you wanna know why it isn’t a problem for the San Francisco 49ers? They invested in that position. you wanna know why it’s not a problem most weeks for the ravens because they invested in the position. Dean is about the only investment they made and coming out of Georgia he had questions about him and can’t stay healthy now. The Eagles are seemingly playing the the guess who game every year at linebacker. Every year we seemingly are signing LBs that 2-3rd tier and hoping they pan out. Edwards is about the only linebacker they’ve really groomed and developed in the last 5 years that’s panned out for them. at some point in time you’re going to get caught with your pants down with somebody who shouldn’t be out there. Right now that’s Ellis and morrow.

On offense they are easier to defend. Aj brown and Smith are the only two pass catchers on the team that are reliable. With goedert out, they are much easier to defend. Furthermore, if they aren’t going to run the ball and make themselves one dimensional then it’s really much easier to defend. This team sorely lacks another consistent option if goedert is out. Even when healthy they have goedert, brown and smith. Everyone else are JAGs at WR and TE and really offer very little upside

hurts hasn’t been as good as last year. Has moments where he does but overall he just isn’t playing at the level he was last year. Stats may indicate otherwise but the eye test tells you he’s not.

also everyone sticking up for Johnson and the eagles ppg average being similar to last year needs to sit down. I said a couple weeks ago we are going to find out how good of a coordinator Brian Johnson is and how far he’s come since the first week of the season when he runs into a team like the San Francisco 49ers. It’s not all on him alone. Sirriani is also part of this. He has much blame as Johnson.  that’s probably the best defense you are gonna face all year. So Johnson and sirriani better bring their A game. if they don’t, it gonna cost you in that game and you’re gonna have a really hard time winning deeper in the playoffs. I thought sirriani and Johnson got super fortunately eagles talent prevailed against Kansas City because for most of that game, Spags ate their lunch and took them to school

I just took 4 straight shots and poured a glass of Jefferson ocean blend. Way to go defense. Gameball goes to the LB core and secondary

Can blame the refs to a certain extent but this box score says it was a good old fashioned ass beating

This defense was the only defense that made Mac Jones look like a world beater this season when he's been the worst QB in the NFL this season and the Pats offense couldn't score a TD if you walked them via armed escort to the goal line. I know it was way back in week 1, but still. Something is horribly rotten with this defense that even with the talent issues it's way worse than it should be and they've done nothing to correct it seemingly.

Some of you may know Ive been very positive in support of the team during the last bunch of come from behind wins. While you whiners complain its over, Im here telling you theyre going to win.

At this point where its clear this team is too tired to overcome their flaws, and going in to dallas still tired, while Dallas has extra rest Im here to tell you we have already lost next week.

I seriously dont even want Hurts to play.

We will beat seattle convincingly, and dominate the remaining week teams. And still secure the #1 seed. Weve already lost. Let Hurts try to get right. Or at least better than he was today.

I think the reality check is good with about one month left in season. Yes I expected a win, but even if they were to lose I figured a closer game.

But I honestly doubt this gut punch changes anything.

Yep. The outcome was not decided by refs. After the emotional high on the first two drives on D, we got demolished. Only change that Dessai can make is to come up with some more blitzing to maybe force the issue and maybe come up with some turnovers. You can’t allow teams to constantly drive down the field over and over again. Do something - take some risks!

None of that will work though if they can’t friggin tackle! That has been horrendous for quite some time.

The tackling is poor, hitting not wrapping up...  but I think lack of tackling is also a function of fatigue.

Against the 49ers though... you don't need to cover deep.   Play tighter and dare Purdy to throw to a deep route... and hold the ball longer.

I was 50/50 at best. With each successive come from behind win it was becoming tougher to go in confidently.

The perfect timing of events happened where this D played over 100 snaps and met a physical SF team on extra rest.

Along with continued poor QB play, continued major regression in the run game and unwillingness to get it going, soft D, and a crooked group of officials it was too much to continue overcoming. And they dont appear nearly ready enough for next week's challenge either.

I'm glad the MVP is ok

This is who the defense has been all season, they just didn’t get bailed out today. Rivera not going for two in the first Washington game, KC with wide open drops, Dallas with late penalties, Allen missing a wide open Gabe Davis in OT, etc. They’re just not good and have gotten lucky more times than not this season. The giving points up before the first half might be one of their worst qualities. It’s a total momentum killer.

That's not really true. Morrow probably wouldn't start, but Slay and Bradberry have been starter quality but are slowing down. Blank actually is too, but he's a second year UDFA. Keep in mind Jordan Poyer was a started in this league for several years, so was Kurt Coleman, but both of them took some time to develop the knowledge needed to be a consistent and reliable starter. Not everything is about talent in every position, but sometimes when you lack the talent in several spots, you run into issues like these.

I've said it before, the defense has been about average this year. It's not like they've been bad, they've been mid. Just mid.

Agree, it might not be totally true, but it’s not far fetched either. You could probably pluck in a player or two from our back 7 somewhere, but as a whole we lack talent or maybe a better word is ability, regardless of age, UDFA or whatever else. They just don’t make plays.

Sirianni should be on the hot seat. He’s not good. Emotional fem betch

I'm down.  All hands on deck approach.  Last year, when we lost the adjustments that the front office and coaching staff made had a huge impact on the rest of the team.  Shows that this isn't good enough.  We want a championship or bust

I don’t disagree but I hope the eagles don’t see them again.

Purdy? Or McCaffrey?

are people actually complaining about the refs....this game was a blowout...a tired team meeting a team who are hitting on all cylinders...the refs had minimal impact
