I complained about the same thing you are again with Gannon in 2021. He had the same exact issues in 2021. They were 29th in red zone in 2021. 30th in third down defense. 27th in first downs given. Also one of the most penalized defenses in 2021.

Literally everything you just complained about were the same things that were ****ed about in 2021 with Gannon. So again that 2021 team lacked good defensive talent at linebacker  I’d say at safety  and corner opposite slay. Was only gear maddox stayed healthy. I get Gannon still sucked against better offenses in 2022. But the reason why they were at least competent against mediocre and bad offenses is because they significantly got better talent in 2022.

I think this defensive talent is closer to the 2021 defense in terms of talent than the 2022 defense. They suck at slot corner. Roby is not good. maybe average at safety. They’re really bad at linebacker. They don’t have great depth behind sweat and riddick. And all defensive tackles are playing way over than snap count they should.

I also am on record for Fire Gannon lol. It doesn’t absolve DeSai for me sorry. I haven’t seen one single player over perform in this scheme and there’s normally a bright spot in your defense, and he has 0. These guys are NFL players, he needs to do better. He’s the one who came in his press conference talking about representing a city with toughness and being palpable. They’re softer than wet cookies.

They deserve to gloat and celebrate. We meet them 10 times and they beat us all 10 with the way we played. Without any doubt in my mind whatsoever.  And I am pretty sure they will advance through the playoffs.  So we have a lot of ish to deal with for when we see them next.

Could it have gone differently had we scored on the first two drives?  Perhaps.  Can we do better with Goedert back? Surely.  Can we dink and dunk and run?  I have to think it is possible if Hurts is holding balls THAT long, then obviously we mis-schemed something (several things).  Defensively, I am deeply concerned, lol.  And I don't see any solutions to playing them again.  I honestly don't know what the D can do to get home. To cover. To handle pre snap movement. To handle misdirection.

Some very top athletic rookies aren't getting many snaps. Nolan Smith gets some, but he could be used at ILB.   VanSumeren is an ILB.  Both of those 2 have excellent high RAS for a Linebacker.   Much better than any hurt or healthy ILB the Eagles have.   If the alternative is bad (and it isn't always bad, really just today),  why not try the players with the highest physical ceiling.  All of those guys are fast enough to run down Deebo Samuel.

Because that's what it was.  Couldn't tackle Deebo Samuel or run him down.

A player punches Dom, who was just doing his job, and Dom gets ejected....OK.

What is Dom’s job? He’s not a player. He’s not a coach. If he’s security then stand on the back of the sideline and watch the crowd to make sure no one jumps the rail. He initiated contact with Greenlaw.

Haven’t been healthy enough this year to wish for the extra playoff game.  All it takes is for the wrong guy to go out injured for the season in the #2 vs 7 game (Hurts, AJ Brown, Smith) and the overall plan is at dire risk.

Eagles still have a sizeable advantage in the division, where they still lead even with a loss next week.  @ SEA becomes the huge game at that point.  SF still has Baltimore on their schedule — and the Ravens might actually run through SF, the way the Eagles should have tried more today.  Niners don’t have a walk to the #1 seed just yet.

Hurts and Brown both got hurt for a bit today.

I don't agree that we can't get better. There's no guarantee we will, but we can. We see teams make 2nd half pushes every year.

Look at the Packers right now.

Couple guys looked good early but have fallen off.

Different kind of security. He's the coaches security. It's why you never see him leave the coaches side. Think of Dom as borderline Secret Service for whoever the Eagles HC is.

Dean is looking like a bust. Always injured.

He’s too small for MIKE. WILL or SAM..maybe? But I honestly think he’s just too small for the NFL. It’s not like he can overcome that like a London Fletcher or Zach Thomas did. He may have been just a good college LB and the other teams that avoided drafting him knew that.

Eagles are 10-2. They have been making the same mistakes since week 1 and calling the same defense since last February that lost them the SB. There’s no changes coming for them.

Maybe.  I don't see the Niners we saw today losing to the Ravens.  But, things can change over the next month+.

Just pointing out that there is still a favorable path available.

He was always going to be a project.  Plus, he doesn't many snaps with the DEs in front of him.

Perhaps, a first-round cb or s would have been a better investment.

There’s no getting better at this point. Its week 14… you are what you are at this point.

Dom would have folded Greenlaw into a pretzel, but he knows what his job is.  Greenlaw is a lowlife who knows how to run and tackle, so he makes a living playing football.  Greenlaw should get a suspension from the league, but he won’t

Neither of them move the needle sorry. Maybe Reich but not if he’s not calling plays.

Ertz could be a valuable backup TE vs what they have now on passing downs. The guy knows how to find open space. Nick and BJ need a fresh set of eyes to design plays and make better use of the talent they have. Not calling plays.

Maybe he is out of position… who knows.

They might be soft. I’m not gonna say they are or they aren’t. But what I’m going to tell you is Zach Cunningham was on the streets for months and is starting for us. And the eagles signed him mid camp and he’s our best linebacker. Which ain’t saying much. Morrow got cut and went through waivers and back to the practice squad and is now starting. Tells you what the league thinks of him. Bradley Roby was on the streets into the season. Three of those guys are all playing significant snaps. Christian Ellis probably shouldn’t even be playing linebacker right now. Starting  out there today.

I don’t think you understand how much of a deficit talent they have. i’m sorry no coach is gonna be able to cover up for 1/3 of your defense for an entire year and against great offenses

oh,  play other ILBs on the roster,  especially the fast and strong one?

yes.

Aren't those games easier than Dallas, Buffalo,  KC, SF, Miami, etc? 😄😄

Especially Arizona.

I didn’t see him make contact.  He pointed at him then Greenlaw pushed him in the face.

If you're referring to the late TD .. Reed was made love to on that one.

cant remember exactly what one it was might have been his 2nd. but our players were bouncing off of him. nobody wanted to just tackle so they were throwing their bodies into him. just like Roby did to Purdy. thats another example of being soft. dudes would be trying to kill jalen if that was him. i want the defense to put that same energy out.

They looked good for one quarter and forgot there were three more quarters to play.

was weird that it just vanished. imo it was when they let purdy complete that pass for like 12 yard on a 2nd & 15. desai of course had slay playing off coverage. when he isnt that fast or physical to come up & get the tackle right away.

To be fair the LBer was forced to cover someone behind him and peeled off to cover Deebo on the first one. We need to move to a cover 3 concept to help the middle of the field and let Slay/Bradbury play zone on the ends with Byard playing deep middle. Then we have have LBs/DBs flowing and roaming the middle changing up looks from cover 3 to 4 and 6.

honestly i dont know what we should run because i dont know if we have the talent once so ever on defense besides our Dline to make anything work. i have zero faith in our defense.

Sounds like a scouting issue

I hated the pick, but not as much as I hated the Davion Taylor pick.
