We made it to the SB last year by running the ball and passing off of that. This year we’re passing just to pass and don’t seem to have any schemes to confuse or trick the defense. We had some cool formations on the first drive, then everything went to standard deep drop passes for the rest of the game. I don’t understand how we can be so inept on both sides of the ball.

Hurts is not a drop back type of qb.

They might be soft. I’m not gonna say they are or they aren’t. But what I’m going to tell you is Zach Cunningham was on the streets for months and is starting for us. And the eagles signed him mid camp and he’s our best linebacker. Which ain’t saying much. Morrow got cut and went through waivers and back to the practice squad and is now starting. Tells you what the league thinks of him. Bradley Roby was on the streets into the season. Three of those guys are all playing significant snaps. Christian Ellis probably shouldn’t even be playing linebacker right now. Starting  out there today.

I don’t think you understand how much of a deficit talent they have. i’m sorry no coach is gonna be able to cover up for 1/3 of your defense for an entire year and against great offenses

I don't know what the hell Howie was thinking letting CJ go....bringing back Slay when the plan was to move on....bringing back JB...letting White and Edwards go....and replacing them with crap. He did a bad job past the DL and Swift.

So many thoughts on this game. I'm done thinking the Eagles are going to magically hit some switch and play a complete game. It's just not going to happen.

- Jalen Hurts. What's going on? Why does he continually drift to the right as soon as he gets the snap. Watching him feels like a 12 year old kid playing Madden. Get the snap and run to the right. It's maddening. Is the OL not as good as we think they are and giving up pressure or is Hurts regressing? How many times a game do we see Hurts drift, drift, drift and we have a big sigh of relief when he throws it away?

- Where is the running game? Why is Swift being used so little and sporadically? Again, is the OL not as good as we think they are and they can't get lanes? There's absolutely no rhyme or reason to their running game. When's the last time they even tried to get Swift in to a rhythm? They don't. It's a carry here and then he's out for a quarter. It makes no sense.

- For the resources they've invested in the DL, I expect more. They need to dominate. They need to be able to take over a game. Right now, they are underperforming. They need to take their game up a notch.

- Reed Blankenship is probably the least of their issues but I don't think he's a long term solution at safety. He's probably starting here next year by default but he's given up some crucial TD's this year.

- Eli Ricks was a great pre-season story. He cannot be out there anymore on defense. They brought in Josiah Scott as an emergency nickel when Maddox got hurt and he instantly played his best game as an Eagle against the Dolphins...only to never play another snap and get cut. Eli Ricks is getting burnt left and right yet they still trot him out there. Nothing about it makes sense. I still think Ricks can be a player down the road...but he ain't it right now.

- Nothing to say about the linebackers but Morrow gave up 14 points today on 2 plays. I also noticed that Sirianni has 17 on his visor. Dean is done for the year. Leonard isn't saving this defense if he signs here. What a wreck that everyone saw coming.

- They weren't the reason the Eagles lost the game but the officials, as we expected, were garbage. Bosa takes Hurts out at the knees, nothing. Hurts gets tossed down in the white on the sideline, nothing. The Eagles were getting held on both sides of the ball and nothing. A player punches Dom, who was just doing his job, and Dom gets ejected....OK.

I guess we all know this was coming at some point. I don't know where they go from here though. They aren't getting better. The coaches aren't changing how they call the games and the schedule isn't getting any easier.

The OL played fine today in pass pro.  Would like to see the All 22 to see what was happening with the coverage.  I think Hurts got used to running for his life with the backups (Opeta/Driscoll).  He just needs to settle down and trust his protection sometimes.

Yes. There has been no rhyme or reason to the run game since the beginning of the season.  You really have to stick with it to be successful and they really need to stick with it against the Cowboys.  I get that AJ Brown is basically unstoppable when he isn't getting held all game but they have to commit to the run game.

The top DTs are playing too many snaps.  I have been calling for Suh for a couple of weeks.  Give us another reliable DT in the rotation and maybe you can use Williams more outside.  I still don't understand why he isn't signed.

I am with you on Ricks.  I have no idea why we cut Scott when he actually played really well.  I would much prefer him in the slot over Ricks.

The thing is that the coaches can change.  They need to change.  I wish they would be honest with themselves about Johnson and bring in Reich.  He needs help.

They also need to be honest with themselves about Jones.  He brings nothing to the table.  Bring in Ertz.  Run 2 TE sets, run the ball more and get another reliable middle of the field target.  It is a no brainer.

I thoroughly disagree. He’s actually really good when he’s given quick timing/Rythm throws. Cut the field in half and let it rip he looks really good. Or off the PA after good running plays, and getting the linebackers moving.

I don’t understand why he’s taking so many sacks for nothing. Today he had 2 when there was 0 pressure. Probably 75% of his sacks this year are 100% on him.

Ok but is Arizona and the NYG twice not easier than what they've been playing?

The quote said the schedule isn't getting any easier.

After the Dallas game......it actually is.  Doesn't guarantee they will win those games but they're easier opponents than what they've been facing.

Maybe he is out of position… who knows.

WILL or SAM then. We’ll have to wait till the off season to find out. But from the limited sample size I saw from him this season, it was enough to say he’s not a MIKE in today’s NFL. Can’t shed blocks, gets spun around, overmatched most of the time, etc. You need a bigger, stronger body there. Like I said, he’s not a freak like Fletcher or Thomas, he’s an overmatched good college LB in the NFL.

I hated the pick, but not as much as I hated the Davion Taylor pick.

Agreed. And honestly I think you had to take him at that spot.

I don't agree that we can't get better. There's no guarantee we will, but we can. We see teams make 2nd half pushes every year.

Look at the Packers right now.

I would have more faith if this organization didn’t have a our crap don’t stink mentality. They’re a great organization but they’re so damn stubborn. I think most likely scenario is they come out vs Dallas and everything looks exactly the same. They have their philosophies they have the guys they like and things they like to do and they aren’t changing come hell or high water. If they’re going to get better then the defensive line is going to have to get back to dominating the line of scrimmage again, which is certainly possible because they have the talent. But I see the same story with the pass defense every week.

I don’t get annoyed that this defense isn’t good as the Browns or Ravens. I get mad when I see teams like the Vikings, Bears, and even the Fing Panthers sometimes compete harder on defense than this team does.

It’s an easier schedule for sure. Seattle has given them trouble for years. New York is still a divisional opponent and the Cardinals know the system since Gannon is there. Might be tougher then we think.

Zach Cunningham has been a plus run defender at LB this year. We missed that.

6 Straight touchdowns allowed by the defense today. SIX. In a row. No punts. No turnovers. No FGs. Pfffft

Sometimes he looks like a qb and other times he doesn’t. Idk what his problem is at times.

He hasn’t been nearly as bad in pass coverage as some want to let on, either

Inexcusable… how many more will Dallas add to that?

yea i know we dont do a lot pre snap motions. we sprinkling it in every once in a while. but then we just go right back to lining up with these big long developing plays. imo i just feel like we are so pass heavy because we have no faith in our run blocking. which if thats the case then we arent going to be able to do nothing.

Swift has been solid. He was third in the nfl just last week in rushing.

KC down 5 with 6 minutes to go and the ball in Green Bay.  I’d still put the Chiefs as 75% to win the game

Well they had a better defense last year and looked the same exact way vs the chiefs in February. Doesn’t seem like the Players matter to me. The coach doesn’t matter to you. So let’s just throw our hands up and say the scheme is broken snd we have no hope for a competent team and let’s quick watching until it’s fixed?

Sounds like a scouting issue

Part of it is. Part of it is how they invest in certain positions and not others. Again, philosophical approach to defense.

desai has to improve on stuff. There’s definitely things he’s not doing well and he hast to get better at. But then again, he’s also in his first year as defensive coordinator here. So I’m guessing he’s likely gonna be better his second year that he was his first year. Kind of like Jonathan Gannon was awful his first year and his second year when they got a more talent. they magically started Looking better.

I have a hard time blaming Desai for the crap they have a linebacker. They missed on third round picks of Davion Taylor and Colby Dean. Both of them are not good. That is huge. I think they let TJ Edwards in Kyzir White go. And replace them with two guys who likely probably shouldn’t be starting in the NFL right now. They should be back ups or not even on the 53 man roster. I think he’s having to use them consistently.

then I got to go look at safety, and the Eagles just assumed Justin Evans was going to stay healthy. Which he never does. That troll image wasn’t a jag. Which is which is the reason why the Steelers let him go. That Reed Blankenship could step in for CJ Gardner-Johnson, and they wouldn’t miss a beat. He’s not as good as him. And they went and got brown who has a rookie isn’t ready and Kevin Byard there was a reason why the Titans were willing to give them up for so little. Because he’s not what he wants worse.

That’s all on top of this the Eagles just kept relying on Avonte Maddox, who is the most unreliable player on the team in terms of health. He gets hurt every single year except for 2021 in the Eagles. Just keep sending them out there like he’s gonna be fine. And then he gets hurt and there  the backyp solution also got hurt who wasn’t a very good solution anyways. And now on with Roby who should be retired.

Desai has his faults and should be fixing them but I think the bigger issue, the bigger picture right now is the Eagles lack talent on defense to beat the better offensive teams in this league. You’re asking desai in year 1 here  to cover up for like 1/3 of the defense not being good or competent starters.

If the league has anything to say about it they will.

cant remember exactly what one it was might have been his 2nd. but our players were bouncing off of him. nobody wanted to just tackle so they were throwing their bodies into him. just like Roby did to Purdy. thats another example of being soft. dudes would be trying to kill jalen if that was him. i want the defense to put that same energy out.

was weird that it just vanished. imo it was when they let purdy complete that pass for like 12 yard on a 2nd & 15. desai of course had slay playing off coverage. when he isnt that fast or physical to come up & get the tackle right away.

honestly i dont know what we should run because i dont know if we have the talent once so ever on defense besides our Dline to make anything work. i have zero faith in our defense.

the Eagles have 3 players with very high levels of physical talent, rookies,  who rarely see the field.

Nolan Smith 4.39 238, Kelee Ringo 4.36 207, Ben VanSumeren 4.45 231.

Who would be better at ILB?  Reddick, Morrow, Elliss?

Ok.  Whole point was the schedule is getting easier.

That's it.
