nah but last year we would just run the ball down peoples throats because we knew we could get 5 yard a pop. this year we are getting like 3.1 or something. also most of his yard came early in the year. since then we havent been nearly as dominate on the ground.

They're not running it enough now that Jurgens is back.

I really think the struggles are mainly because of the 2 new coordinators.

SB doesn't seem likely this year.  Let's just be real.  I think just like year 1 with Gannon and Steichen they struggled.  They did find something that worked, running the ball, and rode it as much as they could.  But in year 2 with those guys they were much improved.  The pass game and defense improved.  Now they also added AJ and a few guys on defense too.  I feel that could be a similar situation and they would be much improved in 2024 in year 2 with Desai and BJ.  This is assuming they improve the back 7 for Desai of course.

But for this year I just don't see.  Maybe win a playoff game but that's it.

Nah.  The only team that we could have trouble with would be the 49ers and we most likely wouldn’t meet them until the NFCCG.

Keep in mind this team just went through (basically) a playoff schedule the past several weeks.  It’s not easy to get up for and beat that many playoff contending teams, week after week. They were basically asked to play at playoff level speed and performance, against the better teams, in the middle of the regular season.

Why in hell did Sirianni have our starters in so late? Pride? Also how hurt is Swift? Complete negligence.

Haven't read much.  This is what Yahoo fantasy had to say about the situation.  Hopefully he isn't in concussion protocol.

Nine combined touches for RBs??? Wtf?

They don’t run enough, and when they run it’s not effective so they don’t run.

It’s a virtuous circle and the biggest difference I think is D’s aren’t respecting Hurts taking off as much this year so can crash harder on the RB. The coaches need to come up with some new wrinkles to get this going - the OL is too good to not have a dependable run game.

This team looked burned out today. Would definitely like to see them vs the 9ers with more rest.

They weren’t going to bench their starters in this game.

Dude it was what, 22 points with 5 mins to go?

yea true. but seems like they have no faith in their run game. just doesnt seem like our line is getting that push like we were in the past.

Dumb pride. He said that they were going to play to the final whistle. All while Hurts just got out of concussion protocol and Swift got blasted to Mars.

i think our defense looks the same sadly. im losing faith in that side of the ball.

Yep. Exactly.  The defense broke records for snaps these past weeks (Blankenship) and have been on the field way too much.

The first thing they need to work on is time of possession management. They need to start wearing down opponents defenses and keep our defense fresh.  When our defense was fresh (the first 2 drives) they showed up.

Gotta keep pressing the issue otherwise it makes the windows smaller in the passing game. I don't care if they're just getting 3 yards a carry gotta give the look to take the heat off the QB. Not talking the RPO because it gives Hurts the option to pull it or pass. Most QBs are going to pull it if given the option. Designed run you run the damn ball. You can get that similar type of threat with the jet sweep while you're running as you could with Hurts on the outside

Eagles sucked today.

Hopefully they got it out of their systems.

Yeah they weren’t going to bench them at home.  If it was on the road, maybe but not at home.

Yep. The refs had it under control and were separating Greenlaw. Dom steps in and puts his hands on Greenlaw trying to push him back and then Greenlaw put his hand in his face in retaliation. Again, if you’re not a player or coach you have no business being there. If you want to follow Nick into the tunnel when he’s running of the field or shadow a player if he’s at some off the field event, fine. But his presence isn’t needed on an NFL sideline. If some meathead security guy put their hands on Graham or Cox we’d all be complaining about the same thing.

Hopefully this doesn’t turn into much but it sounds like there will be more to come for sure:

The answer is obvious and has been as obvious as in past years.  Run the fn ball, control TOP and make it easier on our QB and our defense.  We want to be a passing team but our identity is that Oline and the running game.  Get back to it.

I don't understand why these coaching staffs have to go through the same process of realization every year.

Britain Covey is a slot receiver who also ran a lot in college and high school. He's someone who can catch a close pass, and then theoretically make good yards after catch,  he's a good punt returner,  transfer those skills to the slot and additional runner.     He's 3rd in the NFL in yards per punt return.   A receiver, rusher and passer in college.  there's a possibility he makes big gains by running around the defense the way he does punt coverage.

I can’t confirm if they’ve ever used him for anything other than as a PR. I’m sure they’ve thought about it, but I’m assuming anything beyond drawing up something that involves a WR4 or WR5 is a bridge too far for BJ and Siri. Its RPOs tailored to Jalen’s strengths. Hot reads or bust. An occasional bubble screen. A run or two, mostly when it’s past due. Blown play improvs. Nothing too complex. To add a possible wrinkle for D’s to contend with may be too much for them or maybe they think it’s too much for Jalen. Probably both.

I think they tend to get emotionally ahead of themselves in big games when they are down.

In a way, it could be a good thing that they got embarrassed this game (instead of it being close). Should be a wake up call that they need to get back to basics and get the A-B-C’s right.

It should be a non story but in the age of click bait media, they might turn this into something much bigger than what it was.

The game went downhill late in the first. With the exception of only coming away with 6 points on two drives, it was SF’s 3rd possession and they just got called for a false start. It was 2nd and 15 and SF was at their own 10 I think. The D plays loose and soft and gives a 10 yard cushion to Aiyuk who picks up an easy 12 yards. They convert on 3rd and 3. From that point it was over for us.  Our D was never aggressive or even competitive again. Our O followed suit.

The most disappointing thing in that game was how the DL played. I expected the LBs to suck. But they had a significant talent advantage and showed it in the first quarter. Then got mauled the rest of the game by a bunch of stiffs plus Trent Williams. They should've ate. For a unit this talented they disappear for too many stretches this season. I'm getting kind of tired of it. Maybe they get a pass because they played so many snaps, but they'll need to impact against Dallas on Sunday or they're in trouble and Dallas has a better OL than the Niners.

They need sacks if they aren’t going to get turnovers. They need those negative plays. The eagles over the last 4 weeks have riddick leading in sacks then graham with 2.5. Last 3 games since the bye, Carter, sweat, Davis, Williams have combined for 0 sacks. Eagles have just 4 in 3 games. When facing KC, bills and SF have to have more than just over 1 a game.

The D-Line didn’t have their best game but they were able to get a ton of stops on 1st and 2nd downs tonight.   The secondary, on the other hand, gave up 1st downs on almost every 3rd down play tonight after the 1st quarter.
