I can’t confirm if they’ve ever used him for anything other than as a PR. I’m sure they’ve thought about it, but I’m assuming anything beyond drawing up something that involves a WR4 or WR5 is a bridge too far for BJ and Siri. Its RPOs tailored to Jalen’s strengths. Hot reads or bust. An occasional bubble screen. A run or two, mostly when it’s past due. Blown play improvs. Nothing too complex. To add a possible wrinkle for D’s to contend with may be too much for them or maybe they think it’s too much for Jalen. Probably both.

Covey has gotten snaps on offense but I don't think he's had a target yet.  The Eagles really like giving a lot of snaps and a lot of targets to the stars.

You're talking about short passes.  Covey would be better at short passes.  I don't see why Covey wouldn't be the hot route guy, if the Eagles with Brown and Smith out there don't have a hot route.

What the Eagles do is basically - Jalen to Brown.  Jalen to Smith.

Today,  Brown + Smith was - 24 targets.   17 catches, 210 yards 1 td.
5 others were - 18 targets, 11 catches, 104 yards.

Rushing - 18 46 1 td

It usually works,  the Eagles are 10-2.   passes to Brown and Smith were more than half of the total yards.  I would think there are a few games where more than half the total yards are passes to Brown or Smith.

The D-Line didn’t have their best game but they were able to get a ton of stops on 1st and 2nd downs tonight.   The secondary, on the other hand, gave up 1st downs on almost every 3rd down play tonight after the 1st quarter.

Their third down defense since the commanders game has been brutal. The only game they were good was cowboys game.

7/12 at commanders

6/15 vs. cowboys

8/17 at KC

13/22 vs. bills

8/11 vs. niners

42/77 which is 55.5%. Really hard to win in the nfl when you are giving up first downs on more than 50% of the 3rd downs.

Id also add they’ve been pretty bad in the red zone since the commanders game. They have given up tds on 15 of 20 red zone trips.

I just went and watched it again, Dom stepped towards both players to get between them and pushed Greenlaw first. If he isn’t there it never happens to begin with. Greenlaw was pointing his finger trying to get at Smith, it was not a punch.

Just warn them both and let it go.

It was closed fist... and only became a point AFTER he made contact with Dom's face.  I made a point to look specifically for a point,  the index finger came out late.

I don't know.  Dom is not supposed to be anywhere near the sideline.  I think something comes down.  We shall see.

Here is the thing.  Who f'in cares if they tell Dom to stay in the tunnel?  Greenlaw touched a guy (whether first or not). HE should be worried about losing a game. But reality is it will be fines, so who cares even a little bit?  Doesn't impact either team on the field going forward.

Ok I’m calm now. Niners were just the better team.

On a more serious note…

The pass protection was almost godly at times but I have no idea why our entire game plan was try to hit a 20+ yard pass.

The first drive they actually called a quick slant to Brown and it worked like a charm, had the defense off balance, moved the chains, got the offense moving and in a rhythm, and that was the last time they called it all game, it's like we consider it a point of pride not to dink and dunk.

So the rest of the game was Hurts stood for an age waiting for something to develop down field, the same thing that's looked stuttering all season, don't get me wrong it's OK to go for the bomb occasionally, but it can't be the staple of your offense.

They need to let Hurts run properly again, because last year's offense worked better because he was a threat to run. If he only does it as the very last of all last resorts and slides at the first sight of a defender, you're hobbling your offense and taking away what made him a great QB rather than just a very good one.

The defense has bigger problems, the last couple of games have seen Morrow turn into the pumpkin his stats at Chicago suggested he was and Elliss has demonstrated why he normally plays special teams rather than actual Linebacker. Both were godawful against a team who's offense is based on Purdy throwing short to players who then need bringing down quickly, instead we had the worst linebacker tandem in the NFL backed up by the worst tackling secondary in the NFL.

Our secondary coaching is a mystery to me, they can't cover, they can't ballhawk and they can't tackle, what do they do in training? Bradberry decided to show Deebo he was wrong to call him trash by disappearing from the game entirely and Slay continued his season of defending by diagnosing the play and getting to the receiver a second late on every single third down catch the 49ers had.

Blankenship has been the best player in our secondary all season, and based on the contracts of his teammates and their relative levels of pay he'll be expecting about $25million a year for his extension (this is a joke about how bad our secondary is per dollar spent, not a realistic guess at his actual demands).

I know you won't read all this, but I had to get it off my chest.

Losses happen. Time to move on.

Let's go beat Dallas.

Jalens' legs are shot, he is always moving very slow. Next week Dallas will win and be in ahead of the Eagles to win the NFC East.

If this team makes the playoffs with such a pathetic secondary, it will 1 and exit in the Playoffs..

Next year Slay, Bradberry and even Lane Johnson needs to go, Lane is too old time to start thinking about the future......

I don’t think they really targeted Bradberry, it seemed like mainly Slay, Blankenship, LBs and Ricks? Mainly the middle

Frustrating game to watch. We moved the ball pretty well for the first couple of drives but after that it was pretty poor.

The play calling was very limited. Jalen escapes the pocket and takes and age to get the ball out waiting for someone to get open. This is not smart football, it’s very basic and shows how limited our OC actually is.

missed goedert immensely , hopefully he’s back for Dallas. I think we should start to use penny - he’s gonna be fresh and ready to prove someone wrong. But we won’t

the defence was embarrassing. Niners players open all game, massive holes in the middle of the field that was exploited well by san Fran. Our pass rush just disappeared after the first quarter

no excuses here. They were by far the better team and we need some serious work putting in if we’re to get the number 1 seed, which is probably gone now.

That may be, but we have more issues than just our LBs and one guy isn’t going to solve them. Our secondary is struggling, our front 4 can’t get home, our run D is a sieve, no one can tackle, and we have a D coordinator who plays a soft, risk averse defensive scheme 90% of the game. Shaq Leonard maybe a slight improvement, but not the answer, and that’s if he can even play anymore.

But aside from that, the defense is looking good!

So taking the emotion out of it....the Eagles win today and the #1 seed is almost a virtual lock.  The Eagles lose today and win against the Cowboys, the division is all but locked up and they still have a pretty good path to the #1 seed, #2 at worst.  Even if they lose the next two weeks and San Fran wins next week, all 3 teams will sit at 10-3.  The Eagles will have the Seahawks, Giants, Cardinals and Giants and could easily go 4-0 giving them a 14-3 record.  Dallas still has Buffalo and the Dolphins both on the road and the Lions (so one will knock the other down).  The 49'ers have the easiest schedule but still need to play the Seahawks again and the Ravens.

Guess what I'm saying, I want the Eagles to win so bad against the 49'ers and Cowboys, but at the end of the day......it's really going to come down to their last 4 games, win them and the worst they would probably end up is the #2 seed.  Which honestly puts the Cowboys vs. the 9'ers in the Divisional round (if chalk holds).

So enjoy the day, let's hope for a win but in no way shape or form is it the end of the world if we lose.

Kind of saw yesterday happening, didn't think it was going to be that bad of a loss

Man, these late night "gauntlet” games (ended around 01:30 am here) are harsh when you only get 3 hours of sleep for work. That being said, I’m still grateful that I can watch meaningful 🦅 games despite the bad loss last night.
43 years and counting, so there have been plenty of ups and lots of downs.

The upcoming Cowboys game is going to be even harsher and it would be a redemption of sorts if we broke that home winning streak. Problem is, this defense also has to play on Sunday night.😩

The most concerning thing about Yesterday is that all season Desai has tightened the defense up in the second half and Yesterday it just got worse and worse.  They really need a linebacker who isn't Christian Elliss back, just anyone competent to occupy the middle of the field.

I do also think that the NFL should be asked to explain how we get our two main rivals for the one seed off the back of 3 days extra rest in back to back games while we're playing 4 games in 20 days.

Because they don't know how good SF and Dallas will be when they make the schedule.

That's what the excuse will be, anyway

Definitely LB is a problem, but they were playing one of the best teams in the NFL, that had revenge on its mind, that had 10 days rest, the Eagles were coming off draining wins.  Like I said in my previous post, they are still set up to get the #1 seed, at worst #2 barring a complete collapse.  And in the long run, this loss sucks and is almost embarrassing but if they get the #2, then most likely you have Dallas having to go to San Francisco and you avoid having to play either until the NFCCG.

Of course, but just a topic of conversation after a curb stomping.

Did Johnson accidentally grab a pee wee football playbook last night?  My god, him and Hurts were absolutely abysmal.

Cool.

Run the ball: 9 carries by our RBs is poor planning and worse play calling.  We have to be a ball control offense to protect the defense.  If teams can score at will, and they can, then we have to limit the amount of time their will pulverized us.

Failing to score TD's on the first 2 drives was just brutal.

Not saying it would have changed the ultimate outcome, but being up 14-0 could have.

They may have still come back because the defense was completely helpless, but they are a different team when trailing by double digits.
