OK, well, let me try and be optimistic this morning...

1. The defense may have gotten run through, but they only played 59 snaps and barely hit anyone (OK, half joking). Coming off the 95 snap performance against Buffalo, they should at least be fresher for the game in Dallas. Hopefully Cunningham can come back.

2. Unlike last year, this team is really missing Goedert as the 3rd pass catching option. Having him back in Dallas should allow Brown and Smith more room to attack Dallas' CBs that were just roasted by Metcalf, Smith-Njigba and Lockett. Bland in particular was cooked all game.

3. I'm reaching, but...Quez Watkins didn't suck yesterday? Actually made a nice grab. Maybe he can be a WR3?

4. The OL was great pass blocking, and Lane shut down Bosa.

5. We can't tackle worse, can we?

That's all I got.

A quality effort.

WTF did he do? He stuck his hands up to separate people. That's what anyone does on the sideline. Goodell can go F himself with his rigged league and those trash officials. If they had done their damn jobs earlier and cut the BS the 49ers were doing that wouldn't have happened.

Yeah sort of ridiculous.  They let the 49ers play dirty, late hits, etc for the past 2 seasons without blinking an eye but are going to come down on a guy trying to break up a fight?  AFTER a dirty late hit SUPLEX tackle on DeVonte Smith?  If it happens, it will be pathetic and they can expect a major backlash from fans, players and personnel around the league.

Do they really want to be known as the NFE instead of the NFL?

Figures... we finally start to get performance out of a punter just in time for 90 yard drives for TD's to become an automatic outcome for any Eagles defensive series.

The defense sucks we have zero linebackers and weak safeties. Offense didn’t help but we weren’t ever keeping up with that with that kind of defense.

I dunno, I think we need to have a Dom of the Year contest.

As in, you have to be named Dom?  Or is this a Dom lookalike contest?

I love Dom for what he did yesterday.  Take one for the team to get Greenlaw suspended.  Also, if Dom gets punishment, I hope Greenlaw gets a few games off for taking a swing at someone on the sidelines.

I don't know if it qualifies as a "conspiracy theory", but I do think there is a sense of ego to it with the philosophy that Lurie and Roseman have built. They gave Hurts $250 million and they want him to be the one establishing dominance in games, not just handing the ball off 50% of the time. They've never really valued the running back position and don't want to give Swift leverage in negotiations, so they kneecap him with his stats. Especially on the goalline where Hurts gets 95% of his rushing TDs. This offense really could run through Swift if they wanted to, but then in their minds it wouldn't justify giving Hurts the money.

Really it’s an organizational philosophy they throw to get the lead and then run the ball. Even if it’s not working when throwing the ball. Second quarter throwing the ball clearly didn’t work. They were 2-6 for 23 and took a sack and nearly got a ball picked off. So when I hear well, the Eagles are only 2.2 yards per carry yesterday so I was fine with it. Well they were pretty **** in the 2nd quarter. Didn’t stop them from continuously throwing the football.

Also the Eagles called 4 running plays to their backs the last 3 quarters of that game. That means every 11 minutes and 15 seconds they called a run to their backs. have a hard time believing you’re gonna get into any  rhythm with your running backs and/or blocking by calling a run every 11 Fing minutes.

Let me also point out the first four runs by RBs of the game for the eagles weren’t great. They were averaging 3.25 yards per carry. You know who is averaging even worse on the first quarter and a half of the game? The Niners who were averaging 1.75 yards per carry. One team stuck with it, wore the front down, helped control the clock after the first quarter and made themselves multi-dimensional. Which made them extremely tough to defend. One decided we can’t run with our backs against the second best run defense so we’re just gonna throw the rest of the game (called 4 runs with backs after the 1st quarter), become one dimensional and easier to defend. First quarter eagles had 120 total yards means next 3 quarters they had 213. About 109 of them came in garbage time after going down 35-13. So clearly pass pass pass didn’t work especially in the second quarter where they were atrocious on offense

If this stat is correct (and it seemed this way watching the game), our basic failure was getting guys to the ground. It wasn't going over the top, it was going through the defense.

Yup. TBF, this has been a successful model for Philly since 2000.

Morrow had a stellar day on offense

The football field is still a workplace. People have roles, responsibilities and there are rules. What Greenlaw did deserved an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and potentially a disqualification. That's up to the refs. What Dom did crossed a line for staff. Coaches do that sort of thing, not staff. It was a mistake, the team should own it just like the bad play and bad coaching. Own the responsibility for ones behavior or join the world of whiners. Also, the refs absolutely stunk and its easy to see why the 49ers win with this crew. It's pass interference from the 70s.

Not sure if anyone can look up the stat for missed tackles yesterday by our defense but it had to be up there - probably the most by our defense this year.

Yep. It's not like he ran onto the field it was on his sidelines.

Man...Kyle found the weakness and destroyed it. Give credit where it is due.

And special teams are no longer a weakness but a strength. Mann, coverage better, likely best kicker in the league.

Give Shaq Leonard all the money. All of it.

Should Desai revisit Bradbury in the slot and Jobe outside?  I thought Jobe played good enough on the outside. At the very least, he was close in coverage.

If Bradbury is an upgrade over Roby, it might be worth a try.

Let me ask a dumb question -- does Morrow offer a ton in run defense? Are we better off seeing if Sydney Brown can take some of his snaps?

The middle of the field against this defense has been the weakness all year. It's why I don't really understand why people are saying this team was "exposed". We all watch every single game and know this team's weakness: it's linebackers and secondary, specifically the middle of the field. It's not rocket science for one of the best coaches in the league in Shanahan to put on the tape and see it too. This is the same defense we've all watched all season. That made Mac Jones look competent, that got bailed out by Justin Jefferson fumbling on the goalline, that got shredded by Sam Howell twice, that gave up 75 yards to Dallas at the end of the game in three plays and almost blew the game, that let Valdes-Scantling get behind them and got bailed out by a drop, that let Justin Watson get open on a 4th and 25 in KC, and that let Gabe Davis get wide open in overtime only for Allen to misread it. The only difference yesterday is that SF didn't let them off the hook like the other teams did.

This defense has gotten very lucky this season and I get its a part of the game. But them getting dog-walked yesterday wasn't them getting exposed or really a surprise. It's who they have been for a majority of the season.

The issue is you cannot become one dimensional. Even when Reid was here at his peak, there were games they lost because they became too ome dimensional. Against the 49ers and that defense (the best in the league), you cannot make it easier on them by being one dimensional. With Dallas Goedert hurt you’re already at a deficit with reliable pass catchers. You really only have two. And teams are gearing to take out AJ Brown (ans game wore on niners adjusted to brown). And it’s easier because you don’t have somebody in the middle of the field like Dallas Goedert that makes them pay for giving aj all that attention. By making yourself one dimensional, the Niners don’t have to respect to run. And you become much easier to defend. That pass to Watkins should’ve been PI but you wanna know what? the Niners will take it all day if you’re gonna throw it to him because he sucks and can’t catch and you want to be one dimensional as they go out of their way to shut down aj

I will add the only way the Eagles beat the niners with the current defense that they have and the Niners, being healthy on offense is to completely control the TOP. The first quarter they dominated time of possession. Eagles 12:57 to 2:03. The next 3 they lost 26:18-18:42

Really, who cares. If Dom is not on the sideline it doesn't change the game plan. Love the guy but kind of bush league the way it played out. It was not a security issue.

Yeah I'm kinda burned out on the whole Big Dom thing. If he's not on the sidelines anymore, I won't shed any tears. It's approaching Taylor Swift levels of annoyance and I'm just tired of hearing about him.
