The Eagles wouldn't remove a better player from the field to bring Ertz in for some play designed for him in the redzone.  Signing a washed Zach Ertz in week 14 of the season isn't going to cause Beian Johnsom to now change the offense to run a lot of 12 personnel so that they can get Ertz the ball. He would get 0-1 targets a game.

Maybe or maybe after last night’s game they decide to go back to basics, run 12 personnel more often, which is what got Hurts and this offense going in his early days - which also helps the running game etc.   Running some 12 personnel sets, with a good mix of runs and short to intermediate passes, could help open up big plays later on in games, etc

Not to mention the fact that running 12 personnel effectively, tends to burn up a lot of clock time - meaning our offense is on the field longer, keeping our defense fresh and burning their defense out.  It’s exactly what we’ve been lacking over the last several weeks - hence our defense looking completely gassed after 1 quarter against the 49ers.

We just got blown out, at home, by the one team that we could likely face deep in the playoffs.  Changes are coming.

Ian, you're an NFL expert. You should know the Eagles have already worn their KG twice and won't again (unless they surprise us). More likely than not he's here for just this year. The chances we see him in KG are slim to none.

Any news if Swift is in concussion protocol?  I saw other teams announce players in protocol today.  Figured we would seen Swift as well if he was in it but idk

Lmao 213 YARDS of Purdys 314 was after the catch. purdy for MVP!!!

Probably not until the first injury report later this week.

I'm curious... who is this 'better' player?

If he gets 2 first downs or a TD a game, that is worth it to me.

Is Ertz better than never has been Calcaterra?  Or a washed and useless Jones?

What it Goedert gets hurt again?  We are back with Stoll, Calcaterra and the great Albert O

You think he will get 2 first fowns or a TD a game?  Your expectations for Ertz on a game to game basis if he's re-signed here are not in line with reality.

AJ, DeVonta and Goedert.  Outside of RBs if we are in the red zone those 3 are going to be the targets of any passing play down there.

You're not living in reality if you think a 33 year old washed Zach Wrtz coming in here at the end of his career will not only cause the Eagles coaches to change the offense but to do so that they can make Ertz a major contributor to the offense.

Reality is that if Wrtz signs here he will be nothing but depth and will be lucky if he sees more than 10 total targets in the remaining 5 games combined.

Big question. Why not keep feeding AJ Brown on the slant? He had 2 for 55 and was killing it with the YAC. Was it working too well?

None of them come off the field in 12 personnel.  Try again.   Who is the 'better' player that is coming off the field?

There is no evidence to suggest that he isn't washed at this point in his career.  He wouldn't be some redzone target here either.  There will no scenarios where he leap frogs AJ, DeVonta and Goedert as passing options in or outside of the redzone.  His role and number of targets here if signed epupd be extremely limited.

And there is no evidence to suggest AO or GC are better.

You're trying to argue semantics.  Point is that this offense and Hurts isn't going to be looking to a washed Zach Ertz over AJ, DeVonta or Goedert in the redzone or outside of the redzone.  Zach Ertz in his prime was never some big redzone target.  He isn't going to suddenly become that for the Eagles here late in the season off the street.

Quite on the contrary... the evidence is that neither of them are offering us anything.  Ertz may not offer anything either, but it can't be worse than those 2.

I don't know what the relevancy of that is.  He could be better and offer an upgrade as depth.  But that doesn't mean he would have any sort of impact if signed here.  He would more likely than not have the same level of impact that they have had.

They are likely already looking to make changes after last night’s game.  Ertz could be a piece that could facilitate some changes they are looking to make.  It would be a low risk, high reward scenario for the Eagles.

I hope so. Otherwise we won't get through the playoffs.  And we need as many of 5 Ws as possible too, obviously, and at least 3 are not automatic.  And 1 is real hard.

No, I'm not trying to argue semantics.  I am arguing that in 12 personnel, Ertz in place of Stoll offers more to this offense, ESPECIALLY as they seem very disinterested in running the ball in the RZ.

And what Hurts should be looking at is the OPEN man, not a particular player.   Read the defense, determine the coverage and then figure out which route offers the best chance of success.   Hurts got himself (and by extension the team) in trouble yesterday by fading back 15 yards, holding on to the ball, while trying to direct Brown somewhere..and then just fell over.

I'd also suggest that Ertz offers at least as much as Julio Jones, who's turned into the invisible man since joining the team.  5 catches for 16 yards, and HALF of them came on a single reception.

Your expectations are no where near realistic if they sign Ertz of what his impact is going to be.  You're looking at a Julio Jones level impact but even then I'd bet Ertz would end the season with less targets than Julio already as because at least with him he was filling in for an injured player.

Because that makes too much sense.  He may have not missed a slant ALL YEAR.  But let's go deep down the sideline the F again. So infuriating how this O keeps going away from ish that WORKS.  Like in the same game, it works.  Not from 3 weeks ago.  Maddening.

Let’s sign him and find out.

100%

A chance with Leonard and Ertz over the likes of Ellis, GC and AO is absolutely worth a stab in the dark given current predicaments, given the low cost to obtain them. Potentially something to gain and nothing really to lose.

Exactly. I'd take one or two good plays

Okay coach.  Jalen Hurts isn't going to change how he plays because the Eagles signed Ertz in week 14.  You're not an idiot.  You know full well that Zach Ertz wouldn't be come a big part of the offense if signed.  You're simply just arguing because you like to be a stick in the mud when it comes to any of my posts.
