lol...3 losses there? That's a reach man. I'll give them an L in one of those three games, @ Miami , a 10 - 20% chance they lose two. 0% chance they lose three. It doesn't matter really other than going into the playoffs with good positive momentum vs backing into the playoffs. Dallas will not catch PHI for the division championship and the #1 or #2 seed. Barring a collapse by DAL the 6th and 7th seeds (currently MIN & GB) who are 3 games behind the Cowboys with 5 to play will not catch them to take the 5th seed...DAL would have to lose 4 out of the last 5 to change that.

I don't think they lose to the Lions either.

Beating Miami and Buffalo on the road is HARD. I expect Ls there but I definitely did not look at it from a matchup perspective.  Only thinking away games against two tough teams and one may be in bad weather to boot.

And do they lose to Philly?  Highly debatable and a fun debate too, as lots to cover.

Of course, I want them to lose all 3 of those. Losing to Philly is the most important because of the division and it is one of our two hardest games remaining.

Why i said their talent/personnel is a far bigger issue on the defense then desai. They have bad linebackers and a bad slot corner. And average safety.

I'm not doubting Jalen Hurts as the Eagles QB and unquestioned leader.

However, plays like this were the reason I wasn't sold on him prior to last year. There's no reason to bail out of the pocket. This habit has crept back in to his game in a big way. He's got to break this habit and start trusting the pocket again. There's so much this team has to improve and Hurts is a big part of it.

That's a clean pocket that he bails, and Smith is wide open on the sideline.   This was hero ball from Hurts.   Seems the game wasn't so much on Johnson, but on Hurts' execution.

Are you looking at the same picture? There are 4 guys there...the two nearest him are keeping contain in Hurts and are engaged, the other two are 6 yards away...throw the ball.

We might actually have to root for the Cowboys when they face the Lions. It sounds gross but it might be the case. Prepare yourselves!

I’ve felt this way for a while. Hurts has played somewhere between 2022 and 2021 hurts. There’s times like second half vs. Buffalo he looked like 2022 hurts. There’s times like the jets game or first half KC and Buffalo he’s looked much closer to 2021 hurts. The issue is the eagles aren’t beating the niners or winning a Super Bowl with how the defense looks unless he plays like 2022/SB hurts consistently

Seems to me the answer is simple. Run the ball WAY MORE. Stay in the pocket and get the ball out quickly. Short slants to Gogo and Brown and throw wherever 6 goes because he always creates some space to make a catch.  THEN do 5 to 7 step drops and throw the playground balls to AJ once per quarter.

Losing to Dallas means nothing for the division title if PHI wins the rest of the games they're supposed to win, I'm telling you the division title is lock already barring a collapse.

Do you see any sort of throwing lane there?  There's 6 guys at the line of scrimmage in his throwing lane -

- meaning he would have needed to touch pass the ball a second before the TE makes his cut (hoping the TE makes that cut outside) and time it there before the DB zeroed in (which he would have since it would have needed to be a touch/rainbow type of pass to get it there). Not an ideal but high risk throw.

Those type of deeper out patterns in traffic (especially for slower TE’s) tend to require harder thrown balls - and he did not have a throwing lane to make that type of throw.

😕. Yes, there's no issue with making that throw with that pocket, with those guys there.  The issue might be that Hurts couldn't see it because he's not that tall, and these guys on the left side are.

I’m talking about both o-linemen blocking and defenders.  There’s 6 of them in his throwing lane. Which means he could not throw a stronger/laser type of pass - he would have needed to throw a slower, timing type if pass to get it over those guys.

And maybe he would trust Goedert to get there on a timing pass he would have needed to let go before the TE even makes the cut but he probably doesn’t trust a TE with a total of zero catches this year.

I have no issue with that. I ONLY root for what is best for the Eagles.  I even do it for things that helped us retrospectively. For example, I still root for the Raiders for the one time they helped us back into the playoffs by beating.... was it MN?

He isn't a good QB when it comes to seeing the field. It's always been a weakness if we are honest.  He decides where it is going and that is it.

He was going through his progressions a lot last season. Might have to do with having a different QB coach this season as to why we've seen a difference

The Eagles haven't won in SEA in 15 years; that's the game I'm looking toward.  If they beat DAL on the way there, so much the better -- but they can't afford to lose both.

Hurts would have known the TE should have been breaking to that spot so he could have made a timing type of pass over those guys had he trusted the TE to get there.   But it’s not Goedert so I doubt he takes that chance.

I disagree...he's got to be able to make that pass, he's positioned directly in the middle of the two O & D closest to him...they aren't in the lane, the others are 6 yards away, they aren't blocking that pass.

Go watch the play in full speed.

Early against Dallas (and going forward) I'd like to see on offense:

  • Less RPO, more traditional run plays to Swift.  Mix it up with under center and shotgun, handoffs, toss, sweep, screens... just get Swift more touches and in space.
  • This season Swift has 60% snaps, Gainwell 35%.  Increase Swift's snaps
  • What are they waiting for with Penny?  Get him some touches.
  • Get more creative, the offense is vanilla and predictable.
  • Hold Hurts accountable to not focus only on AJ and Smitty, quickly move off to the next read.
  • A couple more designed QB runs early, they wait to do them to bail out the offense.  Do it early then set it up for fakes then quick throws.  Again get creative.

Agreed.  If we lose to Dallas but win out. Conversely, really helps the #1 seed to beat Dallas (of course), as the Niners and Lions are right behind us.

This is some of my favorite stuff in the season. When all the W/L variables matter. It always matters but I don't track it until closer to the Playoffs.

It's awesome that they build the lines early in the draft but they have to get LBs and secondary high sometimes too.

Then we have a bigger problem.  You can't put players into pass routes that the QB isn't willing to throw the ball to.  So he either needs to trust that guy, or they need to keep that guy off the field.

They weren't going to knock that ball down.  Sorry, that's just inaccurate.

Yes.  I am OK with NO designed runs but he looks for the big middle lanes.  Seems to always make those count.  Is it me or when he goes LEFT he makes bigger gains too?  Because they look for him right side due to his tendencies?

Please and thank you on point one.

Ironically, I am OK with vanilla if it means the first thing.  Simple run based and short pattern football.

He would need a clean throwing lane to both see the TE break and to get a laser pass there.   If he’s timing the ball to a spot, then he doesn’t need the lane to see nor would he need to throw a laser.

If you watch it in full speed, he wasn’t timing the ball there because he started to scramble as soon as the TE began his break.

This, and zone read directly at Micah will get good results, it did last year...
