Yeah, he's a long-term loss IMO.

Ringo doesn't have the hips to play nickel.

I understand that... but, where was he when Bradberry was out?  He still didn't sniff the field.

Seems one of the guys you mentioned thought pretty highly of him

In the landscape of NFL talent, he wasn't unique.

No one is saying he was. The point was he had a role on this team. There are others on the roster that serve no purpose. There were better ways to skin the cat instead of cutting your leading ST's player, and the "de facto leader" of the unit.

Plus Nick confirmed they wanted him on the PS. Except 6 other teams wanted him on their roster. It was a bad process.

And neither is Alex O.  The difference is that Alex O hasn't produced anything for this team, or really even contributed a little bit.  Meanwhile, Elliss has.

They screwed up on this one.  And it's ok to say it.   Every move they make doesn't need to be defended or minimized.

So, since you guys are talking about cheesesteaks…I’ve been to or through Philadelphia many times. I try to always find a place to get a cheesesteak and on a couple of occasions have made sure I left the client location in time to stop on the way to the airport .
I’ve been to Geno’s  and Pat’s multiple times because for outsiders they are probably the most well known. The last time I got one though was at Tony Luke’s on Oregon Ave. I thought it was better than the others I’ve visited.

Sounds like maybe I don’t know what I’m missing, so the next time I am up there…where should I go for the most authentic and best cheesesteak?

Tony Luke's is WAY better than Geno's or Pat's.  Both have been corrupted and they want to do it fast, and they use the Whiz.  Forget the whiz.  Nothing authentic about it... not to mention its gross.

Tony Luke's is a very good one.  Dalessandro's is very good.  Jim's Steaks is very good.   Lots of good ones (and quite a few 'meh' as well) in the suburbs.  Down near the airport area, in Folcroft, PA, there's a place called "Leo's Steaks and Hoagies"... if you are Ubering... have them take that side trip - roughly 10-15 minutes from the airport.   Well worth it.

I thought this was a good thing considering that players get stuck behind guys. Better parity?

The original location of Tony Luke’s is one of my favorites - both the cheesesteak and Italian roast pork.

He's so useless you called him Alex twice!

First Case Toohill a couple years ago, and now Elliss. The Eagles were a little too cute with this one.

The team was built for high scoring offense (Lurie wants exciting offense scoring points), and invested in D line and pass rush and brought back to veteran corners. Their lowest priorities on defense were LB and safety and it shows.  If the offense were scoring a lot of points which they should with the talent they have and the D line and pass rushers were dominating like they're supposed to then that covers for the LB and S positions.  They're still 10-2 with all that going on, but the way the team was built needs to deliver or they need to re-think it.

Name 3 teams, ALL-TIME that have done so. Matter fact, give me 1.

Super Bowl winning teams with below-average defenses?

Saints, Colts, 2011 Giants,.

Then you have the previous two champs (Chiefs, Rams) that had average defenses.

It's not about production.  It's about uniqueness.  Tone-setting and pulling players off of piles are not unique skills.

Regarding Albert (formerly Alex) O:    I was listening to the Philly Special podcast.  They noted on several occasions since Goedert's injury that Albert was open and for some reason Hurts chose to throw the ball to a covered Brown or Smith.  Albert has the potential to be something special at TE.  Elliss didn't have any upside.

I don't comment on every move.  Enjoy your weekend.

Oh on the topic of bread. I’m a Bread freak. I love bruschetta and make at home a couple times a month. French baguette, sourdough, Italian loaf, I love it all but it has to be fresh, or as someone else said it can make a meal less than great.

Cape May is gorgeous, had to be there a few times for a contract @ USCG, first drive from Philadelphia to CM I was surprised at how rural it is.

That's valid. Tony Luke's was always my favorite.

So why did 6 teams put in a claim for him? Pretty weird to do for someone with no upside and no skills.

I’m more on the why release Ellis who actually contributed on special teams when we are carrying 6 WRs. julio jones contributes nothing on special teams and next to nothing in the offense. He has no upside, nothing on STs and is going to likely be done with his career at the end of the season. So we decided to keep julio who catches screen passes for 1-2 yards and get rid of someone who actually makes a contribution on ST. the 5 catches for 16 yards and 3.2 yards per reception average is likely really hard to replace if someone got hurt…

The 5 worst defenses to win a Super Bowl were: 2011 Giants 25th, 2006 Colts 23rd, 2009 Saints 20th, 2007 Giants 17th, and this year’s Chiefs with a rank of 16 were the 5th worst defense to win a Super Bowl.

Nah.  No seeds.  These groups are just trying to be contrarian.   Amoroso's is ok.  Liscio's is better, IMO.   There's another company that's supposed to be even better, but I can't recall their name right now ( @just relax knows it, I think).   Amoroso is decent, and they also actually ship theirs out of the area, so its the only one you can get at places outside of the Philadelphia region.

Sarcone's on 9th St. Their bread is used in a lot of delis and hoagie shops and the ones that use it usually advertise that fact. Sarcone's bread is like perfect pasta. It has just the right amount of crust, sort of al dente. It goes back five generations.
