You guys won’t like this, but Slay saying "I think I played a solid game” after the defense got humiliated really rubs me the wrong way.  And I don’t think it’s the first time he’s said something like that.

Aside from weird tee shirts about haters, you’d never see Hurts say something like that after a loss.

I agree and I think most would. It comes off as saying that he wasn’t part of the debacle because he did a solid job and led the team in tackles. After such a butt whooping, the last thing a team needs is some soft CB saying that he wasn’t part of the problem (I know he didn’t specifically say this, but it could be interpreted that way).

And to call out Seth Joyner in that way is just idiotic. He should watch film of back then and just maybe learn something about tackling.

My problem with it is Joyner didn't single out Slay and say anything about Slay specifically. The only person he even said by name was Blakenship and it was that he was the only one not afraid to step up to make a tackle. So coming off an ass whooping that saw multiple missed tackles and Roby bouncing off a 165lb Brock Purdy, Slay feels the need to prop himself up about how well he tackled and how great he was in the game. It's the same thing he did after the Super Bowl, and the same thing he did after the Cowboys game last year.

And Joyner is spot on with his Blankenship comment, as he is definitely someone who isn’t afraid to tackle. Can’t say that about everyone.

He's also one of the only ones that wraps up.

The Eagles need to invest in LB in the offseason though. Not major money or a 1st rounder, but a day two pick and a couple mid level guys in free agency. Can't go into next season this barren at the position.

You know they won't do that.  LB and S are mid to late round picks, undrafted, or low to mid level free agents.

Last 1st round LB: 1979.  2nd round sees a little bit at LB in recent years: 2012: Mychal Kendricks, 2005: Matt McCoy, 2001: Quinton Caver.

Building the lines is great, but you would think once in 22 years you could draft a 1st round corner, once in 44 year a 1st round LB and once in 54 years a 1st round safety.

I’ve never understood why they are so reluctant to put high draft resources into the LB position. If you look at some of the best defenses, most had/have good to great linebackers. Another issue is that they don’t draft them well, even when they do spend some draft capital.

one of the best surprise hannukah gifts i got from my family in a really long time. A game worn Jason kelce cincy bearcats jersey vs. rurgers

They don't prioritize LB... in any way, shape or form.  Not in contracts, draft picks or scouting.  They generally wouldn't recognize a good LB if it was Terry Tate office LB and he tackled them in the war room.  (And yes, I know Terry Tate was fictional and portrayed by a failed pro LB.  )

I wouldn't even mind if they realize they don't scout and draft the position well so go after them in free agency, but they don't invest in the best players there either.  Last year they finally had a decent group that wasn't embarrassing.  White, Edwards and Reddick worked well.  They let 2 of them go in free agency.

I didn't know that colleges did things like this.

Still better than most LBs they've drafted.

Not re-signing Kyzir hurts right now since the LBs can't cover worth a damn. TJ doesn't bother me too much just since he was a human speed bump.

Worth monitoring for multiple reasons. Them facing the Niners and then Eagles the week after.

They usually take off the nameplate and reuse  but since it’s older and they changed style it got it to someone.

I think Desai has to be more creative with blitzing and also doing it more often. Sure, the D could be burnt by a big play, but what’s the difference if they just drive down in 12 plays and score anyway?! I think the risk/reward is greater (possible turnover) than just letting teams drive down at will with the same outcome. If our bend but don’t break defense would come up with stops and keep them out of the end zone, then fine, but they are not consistently doing it so you might as well gamble more.. IMO

He should stop blitzing period. Purdy ate the blitz alive and Dak would do the same. They're a much better defense when not blitzing because really they don't have the personnel to hold up when it's not a jail break. We don't have press corners, LBs are a liability in coverage, safeties are good but they're not locking anyone up either. Need to keep limiting the blitz with this personnel unfortunately.

. Colleague of mine was sharing her story today.   For first night, her sons got a nice new towel.   At first they weren't impressed... but then, as they unfolded them and felt them, they were super excited.  Apparently, her husband got them each a super-bougie towel.  Very large, very soft, very luxurious.    Last year for first night they got new pillows... the 'cool' pillows with the cooling gel in them.

ok? and last years Eagles loosened up in the SB so what's your point? That's when it matters if you tighten or loosen is my point. You want to see it come together during the playoffs..

I don’t want to go back to the previous pages to find out what this argument was really about, but I think I can guess the gist of it.

If the argument was "can a team suck in one specific area during the regular season, but correct it later in the season and the playoffs”?  After watching almost 50 years of football, the answer is certainly yes. Every year is different. Yes, history can tell us what has happened in the past and sometimes it repeats itself … but it also tells us that things that were once thought to be impossible are now possible.

You can’t go a week anymore without seeing a tweet (or an X or whatever) about some record that has either been broken, or some new trend that looks to be impressive (based on past accomplishments).  It’s an ever-evolving league.

They did a tush push documentary?  Where do I watch this?

Tonight I will likely get a small towel to polish my new dreidel. 🙃

Seriously, I love nice towels but am a bachelor and would no more buy a towel than I would grow wings and fly.  A friend owns a high end property management company.  Every year I stay at one of the many properties in Beverly Hills she manages and I steal a towel and the Hermes liquid body soaps.  Last holiday party, I wiped out all the soaps on one whole wing of the property. I had 1 oz Hermes soaps until about April.  She just walked by me pilfering, laughed and said "you are pathetic."  And while this is true, at least I smelled good.

I hear what you’re saying and Dak is also very good against the blitz. I still believe there are ways, or at least should be, to send an extra rusher as the d-line is not really getting home with four. Not having press corners isn’t great either, but letting them march down the field over and over again doesn’t solve the problem either. I’m not saying he has to constantly do a full out blitz, but be a bit more creative in sending different blitzers. You’re probably right that it’s unfortunately better to not blitz…but the results in not blitzing are not really better either, as they constantly march up and down the field. Even when it’s like 3 and 20, we lay off and give them all day to complete long 3rd downs….something has to change.🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I printed this and brought it to my local police station. Police are on their way.
