It’s funny how Sirianni sees the sign that says "run the ball” and basically just makes a joke of it.

I said this last night during the game about running the ball. When we say run the ball more this is why.

1st play of the game for the Ealges. D'Andre Swift, 4 yard carry with 10:00 minutes to go in the 1st quarter. His next carry wasn't until 10 seconds left in the 1st quarter on their 2nd drive.

-Subtracting the 2 false starts, they ran 10 plays on their opening drive. There was also the ticky tacky OPI and 1 penalty on Parsons. So out of 10 plays were run, 2 of them were called runs to Swift, 2 were Hurts runs

-2nd drive, they ran 8 plays, 2 runs.

-3rd drive 10 more plays. 2 called runs and Swift is out of the game. It's now the Gainwell show. He had 2 nice runs but Swift is never going to get it going if he is out for drives at a time. 2 called RB runs, 2 Hurts runs

1st 3 drives of the game. 28 plays called. 6 of them called RB runs and 4 QB runs. I have a hard time counting called QB runs as part of a real running game because it takes away from the RB getting in to any sort of rhythm.

Your RB are never going to get going with 6 runs. The game is still 17-6, you need a TD to be right back in it. You also need the D to make a stop, which we know it can't do.

Bottom line, their plan of attack with using the running game is absolute garbage. It makes no sense. Your starting RB gets decent yards on the 1st play and doesn't see the ball again for 10 minutes. Then you take him out of the game completely. How he's still in the top 10 rushing is beyond me.

Agree with you on importance of getting RB’s into a rhythm. It’s too all over the place, play two RB’s and give them carries. Personally, I’d like to see Swift get majority with Penny getting a few.

QB runs are part of the script like it or not. It’s something the Eagles do fairly well.

I honestly think Hurts is the least of their problems. AJ and DeVonte had two HUGE drops. DeVonta had a 34 yard TD in his hands and AJ Brown had a 30 yard pass go right through his hands. The Smith ball was a HAIR too long but Smith needs to make that play. The ball to AJ was an absolute dime that you can't throw any better. Right there is 65 yards and a TD.Who knows how that changes things.

Yes, he 100% needs to see the rush better and spread the ball around but I think a lot of it comes down to coaching too. Call plays where Jalen can throw a quick slant to AJ and let him bully his way down the field. Call some quick outs to DeVonta to get in a groove. Where's the TE seam or anything TE over the middle? Hell, just let Goedert sit in the zone and let Hurts dump it to him for an easy 7-8 yards. Does he have a hot read?

No one on this team is immune from criticism, especially Hurts. He's getting paid $240 million. He should be able to overcome bad coaching and take over a game. He's not doing that. We need more from him. I just think no one around him is helping at the moment.

Good qbs make reads before the play and adjust. I don’t ever see Hurts change the play at the line.

Maybe the MVP talk will finally stop. MVPs don’t turn it over at a rate of 1 per game. He doesn’t even deserve 1 vote. It’s between Dak and Purdy since they only give it to qbs.

Never really understood the MVP talk for him. He was playing good before the previous two games but was still a turnover machine and goal line TD merchant juicing his total TDs.

I didn’t either. If it wasn’t for the rushing tds what has he done? At least it can stop now. Unless he goes off for some crazy stat line these last few weeks he doesn’t deserve to even be in the discussion.

After losses he loves to spread his doom and gloom.

The team isnt very good.  Definitely not better than SF or  Dallas.  We aren't winning a SB.

We all know this.  Now we need to figure out how to get better the last 4 weeks and in the offseason.

I hate fixing this team always falls on the blog and we never get the credit we deserve.

Hurts was in the discussion for MVP because we had the best record in the NFL.  Fairly simple. It is why Prescott and Purdy are now the favorites.

Seth Joyner just made an interesting comment about Gannon and Gym Shorts... they're both running defenses that are wildly different and way more aggressive than what they ran here. Is there something about the Eagles that forces these coordinators to call scared, passive defenses?

aj and smith also didn’t play well. Why i said aj brown hasn’t been playing well for a couple weeks now even with his stat line saying otherwise. And smith just had a really bad game as well last night. Both were awful last night. That said when your Qb has 15 turnovers and on pace for 21 for the year that’s a major issue. Been the same thing week after week. He’s turned into wentz where wentz had a problem holding onto the ball. He’s fumbled in 7 consecutive games. That’s 100% what wentz was doing and people got furious about and rightfully so. Add on has been inconsistent for long stretches of games for weeks now. Literally he was bad for an entire 4th quarter in the first Dallas matchup and they nearly lost. He was inconsistent in the first half against KC and Buffalo. Frankly like the entire team not very good after the first quarter against SF. Again hurts got bad performances from brown and smith but he also missed some throws and his turnover early put the eagles in as much of a bind as those drops and eagles defense.

there was a lot of people on here last year laughing (rightfully so) at Dak when he was a turnover machine and had 16 in 12 games. Hurts after 13 games has 15. Discussed this last year with a Cowboys, I said, at some point in time those turnovers Prescott keeps making are eventually going to catch up to him and the cowboys. and it did at the end of the year and then in the playoffs it cost them a game against the Niners. If your quarterback is gonna be turnover prone, you’re not beating the better teams in this league especially not when your defense is bad and your teams are also dropping the ball. That turnover by Dak last night was not good. However it’s also just his 3rd turnover in 8 games.

OK, this just made my post defending Hurts look really bad lol.

Dak didn't even have a great day yesterday.   Good but not great.  We had a couple opportunities for tipped INTs, he fumbled for a TD, couple penalties extended drives.

I made the same comment on the blog a week ago when others wanted to can desai. You fire desai but you are going to have the same issues of how they run their defense. They went to use fangio’s style and  playoff and make you beat them by not giving up the big play. This is an organizational philosophy. So even if you fire desai you are gonna get another DC that’s gonna run something similar.

I haven't gone scorched earth on this season, but I'd be interested to see if Al Harris would come over as DC.  As for offense, I have no clue.  Somebody who doesn't call underneath throws on 3rd/4th and long with the game in the balance would be nice, or who calls a run play on 3rd and 2-3 knowing if it becomes 4th and 1 we get it.

Man, I hate seeing Al Harris as a Cowboys coach. He was one of my favorite Eagles on those AR teams. One of the first true gems they found. Yea, he was good for a penalty, but I loved his aggressive style of play. I feel like as a coach, the Cowboys really feed off his energy. I'd be all for bringing him back to Philly.

Sure, but he’s certainly in the MVP discussion I would think. He’s leading a high powered offense and having a very good year.

I dislike that we really aren’t a physical Defense.

At least they’ll have a nice long vacation starting in 4 weeks. Then they get to listen to all the noise about how good they started and how they are the first team to start 10-1 and not make the playoffs.

Not make the playoffs? Are you serious? That's a major overreaction. You should take a little break/vacation yourself.

It's either that or we're not signing/drafting players who are capable of executing complex defensive concepts. I guess either way that falls on Howie.

Most physical guy got knocked out by a runner lowering his crown. Hope he makes it back.

Oh yea, he's definitely got work to do and that's part of it. He doesn't audible. He has 3 players he throws to and he holds the ball too long.

Purdy or Hill. Dallas will lose a few more games. I'm not so sure about the 9ers losing again.

It's their Fangio philosophy that they dictate to their DCs. For like the past four years we've seen them sit back in two-high shells only to prevent the deep play, rarely blitz, and get carved up over the middle against competent to good QBs. If the Gannon tampering issue with AZ didn't happen, Fangio would be the DC right now.

Can’t tackle. In terms of plus physicality on defense, it’s Carter, Blankenship and Brown. Maybe Cunningham.
