It's either that or we're not signing/drafting players who are capable of executing complex defensive concepts. I guess either way that falls on Howie.

It’s probably both. However pointed out last night go positional unit by positional unit. The eagles have downgraded at every single unit. To what extent is the question with each. And I’d argue slot corner, linebacker were significant downgraded. Safety and even DT are not small downgraded. Losing suh and Joseph as depth hurts when Williams has disappeared. And while Carter is gonna be an absolute stud, hargrave was a pro bowler who was a veteran and gone through the rigors of a season. Was super consistent from week 1 throughout the playoffs. I think Carter and Davis are getting worn down. They’ve never played 17 games nor the snap count. At Georgia they never had too. And Davis got hurt for a few weeks last year and didn’t play as much after getting Joseph

This franchise's inability to have consistent QB play year over year since McNabb leaving is infuriating. Vick one-off in 2010, Foles one-off in 2013, Wentz was never the same after 2017, and Hurts was great last year and has regressed this season.

I might cry.   Old gif of Lurie... that's the old wife and you can see how out of sync they are.  Never gave each other a High five ever, it seems.

Live look at the owner's box always cracks me up.   Some very uncoordinated people up there.

Isn't it clear. Been saying it for some time now that Howie by proxy of Siri dictates how both the offense and defense run. Mostly on analytics bend but don't break for the defense. Offense I have no clue what they are doing with this basic ish. They would have to execute with pure precision and perfection on offense for it to work against defenses that aren't clueless. That's why I never dump on the Coordinators and actually took back my ill will for the former coordinators (except Gannon F that guy) that departed because they're not truly running things.

The offense is really just our guys are more talented then you and we are just going to beat you. The issue with that is most weeks it’ll work if you have the talent the eagles do and don’t turn it over at an alarming rate. The problem becomes against better teams if that talent is closer or equal then you don’t have much in your bag to help the offense out. That said i think spags, wilks and Quinn game plans 3 of the last 4 weeks were better then the eagles offensive game plan. Frankly fortunate our talent came through for two drives in the second half against KC and the defense actually played well. I’d argue all 3 of those DCs took it to sirianni and Johnson.

Listening to Sheil and Solak, and man, they’re saying all the same stuff we are. No hot reads, no answer vs the blitz, not getting Seift the ball in space, asking stars to be stars but not helping make their jobs easier.

COACHING.

Really would like to see reich be brought in to help on offense and let Patricia implement some more defensive concepts.

If there is one thing belichek knows it was defense

It's coaching. Reid was THE coach of the offense. He was the OC, he was the game planner, and he was the QB coach. He had all the knowledge and when his coaches were poached we never lost a beat.

Since then we've had HC's who've been working in service of Howie and Lurie who think they know better. It's like we've seen Lurie slowly morph into the Northeast Jerruh over the past two decades.

Pretty much, we can nitpick areas but when nothing is easy on either side it's on the coaches.

Haven’t listened yet but these were the same things a lot of us were saying the last 2 years when Doug was here. I remember a lot of us pleading to run more motion and that there was a lack of creativity with the offense.

And their start CB, who requests we use his last name only, called out one of the best players from that defense for the way he tackled.

Rats on a ship are the first ones to run off.  Slay is only worried about how HE is perceived, which is gross.   Joyner never singled him out and was likely more upset with Roby's pathetic attempt at tackling Purdy where he bounced off him.   But, Slay took it personally, because he wanted to be sure that he wasn't implicated.   And then, after this game, he retweets something about a bad PI call.   All about himself.

What's frustrating is that I think all 3 UGA rookies have that dog in them from their UGA days. Jalen Carter 100% does. I think Kelee Ringo has a Jalen Mills swagger to his game that this team lacks. Nolan Smith has a BG type of motor but they won't play him.

We need dogs.

Seems we need coaches too.

The team seems to just have quit and lost faith in coaching. Oh, and we lack talent and have regressed basically everywhere from last year. Not one single offensive or defensive player is playing good football it seems. Hard pressed to get excited about any more games this year. These coaches can’t fix this.

Actually brought this trend up in week 1. Every time the eagles have a Qb that has a mvp like year, the next year they have a regression and get hurt. Mcnabb was mvp like in 2004. In 2005 he wasn’t nearly as good and got hurt. Vick in 2010 was fantastic. Some of the best and most consistent QBing in his career, following year wasn’t nearly as good and got hurt. Foles had the 27-2 year in 2013. Following year he was ok but had 10-6 td to int ratio and got hurt. Wentz in 2017 was the mvp before his knee injury. The following year was still solid but not close to 2017 and he got hurt. So the pattern has been regression and getting hurt.

I said this last night during the game about running the ball. When we say run the ball more this is why.

1st play of the game for the Ealges. D'Andre Swift, 4 yard carry with 10:00 minutes to go in the 1st quarter. His next carry wasn't until 10 seconds left in the 1st quarter on their 2nd drive.

-Subtracting the 2 false starts, they ran 10 plays on their opening drive. There was also the ticky tacky OPI and 1 penalty on Parsons. So out of 10 plays were run, 2 of them were called runs to Swift, 2 were Hurts runs

-2nd drive, they ran 8 plays, 2 runs.

-3rd drive 10 more plays. 2 called runs and Swift is out of the game. It's now the Gainwell show. He had 2 nice runs but Swift is never going to get it going if he is out for drives at a time. 2 called RB runs, 2 Hurts runs

1st 3 drives of the game. 28 plays called. 6 of them called RB runs and 4 QB runs. I have a hard time counting called QB runs as part of a real running game because it takes away from the RB getting in to any sort of rhythm.

Your RB are never going to get going with 6 runs. The game is still 17-6, you need a TD to be right back in it. You also need the D to make a stop, which we know it can't do.

Bottom line, their plan of attack with using the running game is absolute garbage. It makes no sense. Your starting RB gets decent yards on the 1st play and doesn't see the ball again for 10 minutes. Then you take him out of the game completely. How he's still in the top 10 rushing is beyond me.

Swift will be on the Cowgirls next year, racking up 1,500 yards.

No, Jeffery does and his son, Jeff Jr. is @LeanMeanGM

I'm pissed this morning but less so than last week. I never had expectations of going into Jerruh World and winning. A split seemed the likely scenario. But HOW they're losing has me angry. This team shows no passion or fire starting with Jalen on down the roster. I'm very nervous about flying into Seattle and playing another prime time game in the best home field advantage stadium in the NFC.

Honestly the issues with slay in social media started back in the offseason with his contract. Slay is still playing at a solid level but they never should’ve extended his contract at his age and while they would’ve been worse at corner this year, long term not tied to him past this year. It’d have been really nice to not have to pay him what he’s gonna make 2024 and shift that money to let’s say a FA like jaylon Johnson.

Decided to watch the offense this morning (I'm a masochist) and I see the disconnect.

a) We moved the ball pretty consistently
b) We committed bad turnovers. The AJ one was easily the worst of the three. He did the same thing last year vs. the Colts too.
c) We had back-breaking drops (2 by Smith, 1 by AJ, another that AJ would have caught had he not slowed down)

So while I hate the static, uncreative offense...it worked? So if you're an optimist, we should have put up 30. If you're a pessimist, you're asking for elite-level play every week from your stars which is a tough ask when your defense can't bail you out when you're not. Even the 49ers have won games this year where the D balled-out.

What bothers me the most about the offense is the lack of answers vs. the blitz. On those 3rd and long blitzes, there's no way for Hurts to throw the ball. I love Devonta Smith, but he's not a YAC guy. We don't have a single WR who is a top 20 percentile in speed. So he gets tackled by Gilmore on the drag route (yes the throw wasn't great given the free rusher in his face from the blitz). This is a Sirianni problem, not a Brian Johnson problem as it was an issue last year. The difference is that Hurts' isn't as mobile so he can't evade pressure to give himself more time.

Ultimately, the offense will be "fine" given our stars. But the inconsistency is baked into the offense. I don't think this changes until we get new voices in the building. There's no magic switch to run better as Swift is just not a foundation back (he's still good though). Have to hope Jalen, Devonta and AJ get hot.

If anything the offense isn't physical at all. There seems to be no power or aggressive running game, the WRs are afraid of contact and don't fight for the ball, the offense has no clue what to do against the blitz, etc.

The lack of hot reads is being brought up again, as this was an issue last year too. Is the idea that Jalen can bail on the pocket and run so there isn't the need for the hot read? If that's the case, Jalen can't run right now, at least not at that level. I'm more disappointed in the offense than anything. They have gone stale or the long season is impacting them.

While the defense hasn't been playing well, they are working with 3 ancient CB's, warm bodies at LB, and maybe 1 safety that isn't injured. This defense is so reliant on the DL that everything falls apart if they can't control the pocket. The DL hasn't been that great against the run post-bye. Before the bye only 1 team had more than 90 rushing yards against this defense. Since the bye, teams have rushed for 168, 173, 146, and 138 yards.

A lot of this falls back to the coaching staff. If the team is wearing down, why isn't there a better rotation in place?

DGunn now receiving texts from Eagles players complaining about the route tree. This is a powder keg waiting to blow if players are starting to complain about coaching anonymously via the media.

Beginning to think Sirianni is a good motivator, but not the best schemer. Or if he used to be he isn’t now.

I wonder who might be available and have some ideas about hot routes and beating blitzes.... 🤔

No one, I'm sure.

Some of this is lack of talent or talent not being ready yet. Milton Williams is on a milk carton. Cox is near the end and relying on him to be apart of this rotation playing significant snaps. Nolan smith is just not ready yet to make the leap. And we are relying on an older graham. Linebacker they have no depth. They aren’t good. Slot corner they have 1 in Roby who’s old and at the end. Safety has solid depth of brown plays like he is but byard hasn’t been better than mediocre this year here and with titans. On offense we’ve had the same depth issues behind our starting WR and TE. we’ve needed a better no. 3 for 2 years now. Our backup tight ends are JAGs

Can’t tackle. In terms of plus physicality on defense, it’s Carter, Blankenship and Brown. Maybe Cunningham.

Cunningham is the one that helped with our favorite meme of the year.
