@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! since you compared Hurts to Wentz in the fumble category, I decided to do an Eagles career comparison (adjusting Hurts to 68 games).

Carson Wentz started 68 games as an Eagle. He went 35-32-1. He completed 63% of his passes for 16,811 yards 113 TD and 50 INT and a QBR of 89.2. He was sacked 179 times and fumbled the ball 58 times and had 8 rushing TDs. The Eagles made it to the Super Bowl and won it during his best season (yes we know how it ended).

Jalen Hurts has started 47 games as an Eagle. He's at 33-14 His win percentage is 70%. Let's adjust Hurts numbers to the same amount of games as Wentz.

If Hurts starts 68 games at a 70% win rate his record is 47-21 and winning is the bottom line. Stats wise, Hurts will be at 63.5% completion %, 13,008 yards, 91 TD and 42 INT and a QBR of 92.6. He's on pace to be sacked 159 times. He would also be on pace for 51 fumbles and 55 TDs.

At some point, it will be fair to compare the two QBs and ask if Hurts is on the same trajectory as Wentz. Their stats aren't too far off. Wentz has more yardage throwing to MUCH worse talent but Hurts protects the ball a little bit better, has the rushing TDs by a mile and well, he's a winner.

The alarming thing to me in the comparison is that the fumbles are going to be pretty close. Like that was the thing that everyone was up in arms about with wentz before his ultimate decline of just throwing bad picks and fumbling in 2020. i think hurts is a better Qb then Carson is. However i also think by the end of 2019 and 2020, Carson didn’t have nearly the talent that hurts is playing with right now. At some point we aren’t going to just be this talented so better capitalize on it now and gotta hope hurts is great enough to make up for the lack of talent when that time inevitably comes

If they come out and look competent against Seattle, I will feel better.   Until they do... there is major cause for concern.

I guess we'll find out in 7 days.

Yes. The Seattle game is key.

Juan Castillo. Mike Groh.

I thought AR went down with the ship with Castillo same year, I guess I misremembered.

He was ripping the officiating in the PC about the call on Toney.  He was talking about how they had to let the players dictate the outcome of the game, etc.   He didn't mention someone else being offsides that I heard.

I still don’t understand the whining after the fact.  Immediately after, sure but after a bit SOMEONE should have said "umm, Patricia, he lined up shoulder to shoulder with their DE.”

It was the same year, but Castillo was fired during the season. Todd Bowles was the interim DC for a few games.

Now that I actually have the direct quote he's overplaying how that call changed the outcome. Their offense was pretty dead the first half before Allen's int.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/patrick-mahomes-on-the-kadarius-toney-offside-call-its-not-what-we-want-for-football

Quote

"It’s tough to swallow,” Mahomes said, via Jeff Darlington of ESPN.com. "Not only from me, and football in general, to take away greatness like that, for a guy like Travis [Kelce] to make a play like that, you want to see the guys on the field decide the game. They’re human. They make mistakes. But every week, we’re talking about something. . . . It’s the call. Just in that moment. Not for myself. To have a flag change the outcome of the game. I’ve never had offensive offsides called. If it does, they warn you. There wasn’t a warning the entire game. And then you make a call like that in the final minute? Another game, we’re talking about the refs. It’s not what we want for the NFL. It’s not what we want for football.”

Who was it here that was doing mental gymnastics on the Castillio DC move to try to convince everyone it was smart.  The reasoning being something to the tune of "well, since he knows the O-Line he knows exactly how to attack it"

Deontay Burnett says otherwise...

I didn’t either. If it wasn’t for the rushing tds what has he done? At least it can stop now. Unless he goes off for some crazy stat line these last few weeks he doesn’t deserve to even be in the discussion.

At this point, the Eagles, Ravens. Cowboys, 9ers have the best W-L records.   the Dolphins might join them later today.

At the end of the season,  who knows?

Typically,  the top MVP candidates are QBs with good records and good stats.  Hurts, Jackson, Prescott, Purdy, Tua are the front runners.

Had to be Afan.

I dunno, this looks like an easy grounds for mid-season firing. I know he can only play with the cards he's been dealt but he's just not a good DC.

Why is the league against the Eagles? They have a young minority QB who could be the face of the NFL like PM, Kelce has a huge following, and they are a big market team, yet the last two weeks it was pretty freaking clear the refs have been against them? There is complaining about the refs and there is the rigged crap we have seen. That's not the only reason why they lost the last two weeks but they screwed them pretty hard.

Refs also Fed us on the brotherly shove play again. At this point Lurie needs to contact the league and say something to them

And the league will say, "we are looking to ban it in the offseason, the commissioner hates it, and you have no one in your organization on the Competition Committee."

Nothing will come from a call to the league.  All that they can do is have Dickerson and Kelce go to the line judges each game and show them the difference in their arm apparel and hope that those people have integrity.

Especially with Patricia in the building. It's ridiculous. There is sticking with your guy and blowing an entire season. He wouldn't be my choice for a DC but his defenses were never bottom of the league in NE.

I like the idea of Kelce wearing pink or red gloves that he was asked about in the PC

Firing a coordinator for a 10-3 team with 4 weeks left in the regular season is dumb. Once we hit the off-season, all bets are off.

1983 Phillies fired their manager while in first place, at the All-Star break, I believe.   Firing them really can't happen right now...

But, these guys should be on notice that they need to get their ships righted, or they will be gone after this season.   Or, maybe a team will help us out and hire one (or both) of them to be HCs.   It worked with Gannon.

Why can't they? Patricia is in the building. Maybe you can't fire both but one should absolutely go. The defense can't go down much lower than it is.

Give Kelce bright neon pink gloves.

Reid fired him at the midway point and they finished the season with Todd Bowles at DC.

They can.  I just don't think it would make a difference.

If what Ryan was saying about him being able to tell exactly what they are running on defense it might. Can it get worse or could it spark them? Look what the Bills did mid-season with their OC. Make a huge difference? Maybe not but I think they've been better than they were.

They don't have an extra OC laying around but they do have a DC who's won rings in the building. Yeah, Bill was a big part, but he has the experience.

How does Fangio’s MIA defense compare I wonder… he’s the DC in an alternate reality.
