I like the idea of Kelce wearing pink or red gloves that he was asked about in the PC

Nah, that calls too much attention to his hands throughout the game. I was actually thinking about this the other day when I saw someone with yellow gloves on...as an O or D lineman (even TE or LB) I would want gloves the same color as my opponent's jersey.

Benching Bradberry for Ringo would improve the defense. Ringo is already a better run defender and has the long speed to recover. Will he give up plays? Sure. But at least there's upside there.

-Swift and Gainwell are basically sharing the backfield load now.

-Byard is washed. Said it last night but compare trading a 4th and a 6th this year for Byard and a 4th last year for Quinn to the Cowboys trading a 5th for Gilmore. Eagles trades have been so bad.

-Sidney Brown played 58 snaps after Blankenship got hurt. I'd have no issue with Brown and Blankenship being the starters moving forward but that's not going to happen.

-Nick Morrow is such a non-factor to be leading the LB in snaps but who else is going to play.

-Josiah Scott made more of an impact in his lone game against Miami than Roby made in 58 snaps last night. Still have no idea why Scott was the odd man out.

-Josh Sweat is playing entirely too many snaps. He's at 76% for the year. His highest before this year was 62%. He's gassed.

-Adding to that, BG playing 51% is WAY too much

-Milton Williams played the quietest 40% of snaps ever. He was looking like a sure thing extension earlier in the year but I haven't seen him make a play in weeks. Maybe his injury is still effecting his game. I noticed Tuipulotu a lot more in his 18 snaps.

-Nolan Smith with 21 and Kelee Ringo with 22 snaps is great to see. Smith held his own and held the edge really well. Ringo 100% had his issues, but he played 1 snap all year before last night. I want these guys on the field as much as they can be down the road. BG's 50% and Smith's 26% need to be evened out. Get them both around 35%.

They can.  I just don't think it would make a difference.

I would actually bring in Frank Reich to be an assistant to Brian Johnson and Nick Sirianni. Now if you want to make the move to push him into the offensive coordinator role in the offseason I could see it. I don’t think they would though.

I think defensively you’re gonna have the same issues that you are having now. There’s not another DC out there right now that is a quality candidate for defensive coordinator. and installs everything the last four weeks of the year and playoffs and they just are much better. You saw it last night they made adjustments in the second half. They were a better defense in the second half. The problem is they still couldn’t get enough stops because they don’t have the personnel to make the defense work at the level everybody wants. Everyone keeps saying the Eagles have too much talent on defense to be this bad. I would argue some of the names on the back of those jerseys confuse people. It’s confusing because they used to be what people imagine they are now. They aren’t that anymore. Kevin byard is not what he was two years ago. James Bradberry is not what he was last year. slay is not what he was two or three years ago. Brandon Graham is not what he was last year. And their linebackers suck. Bradley Roby is not the guy he was three years ago. You have bigger name value then actual performance.

what does do another analysis with a DFS. With all these guys we play on defense, how many of them are in their prime/peak of career, at the downside of their career, and at the start of the crew, and not in their prime yet

cox— downside of career

slay— downside of career

Graham— downside of career

cunningham— downside of career

leonard— downside of career

morrow— prime/peak ( but frankly not good)

roby— downside of career

bradberry— prime but likely going into downside

byard— same as bradberry

Carter— just starting

Davis— start starting

williams— prime/peak (not good this year)

sweat— prime/peak of career

reddick— prime/peak of career

blankenship— just starting into prime

brown— just starting

Why can't they? Patricia is in the building. Maybe you can't fire both but one should absolutely go. The defense can't go down much lower than it is.

They dont need to fire him during the year- that can wait till the day after our 1st rd play off loss giving up 40+

they just need someone with a better idea of how to run a defense, to game plan and call the defense the rest of the way.

More of a salary cap question, but what is the impact of moving on from Slay and Bradberry after the season? The dead caps seem outrageous for both and they don't have potential outs until after next season. Unless I'm missing something, just two awful contracts there.

Howie is not having a good run just now.

Do you think Bradberry can turn this around?

I think Kempski said he needs to appear in one more game for us to get the benefit of the trade. So that’s great.

Do I think Ringo can play better than him right now? Hell no.

Honestly, cut or trade Slay, Bradberry and Maddox. It's not our money so in all honestly, who cares if they have dead cap hits. This year, the Eagles have $62 million in dead cap. Sure it's not the best way to manage a roster but again, not my money. They need to get younger, faster and eventually better.

I actually think you could trade slay and get solid value. Not great but some value in terms of draft pick. But cutting or trading him eats a significant amount of your cap. Bradberry likely have to bite the bullet like giants did in 2022 offseason but even that eats a significant part of your cap. You’d have to cut both or trade both as post June to not have that hit. More likely both are back. I think Maddox is more interesting. I wouldn’t rely on him but i think the eagles would bring him back and just have a better backup plan then they had this year. Similarly to what they had last year with CJGJ being able to go play in the slot when maddox was out.

Simple, just look at the schedule and the records. Five straight game of the week games and the other teams have had far more rest the last three weeks. It makes a big difference. We still control the East and the #2 seed with #1 seed in sight and we are healthy.

And those are all valid reasons and it’s a compelling case… I’m just not sure this Eagles team is that good and that’s the issue.

They need to move whoever they an for draft picks. If Slay brings back a 5th, do it. I'm done with Maddox. You just can't rely on him. Even with a backup plan in place, an injury to him throws the entire defense in a tizzy. Go in to the year with a better, more healthy option.

Those are all post June 1st cuts in 2024. I know you said you don't care about dead money, but still, in 2025 you would have:

$24M dead for Slay

$13M dead for Bradberry

$5M dead for Maddox

That's a lot of dead money while you are trying to rebuild the secondary and remain competitive

Slay and Bradberry aren't going anywhere. Scheme a defense that can not be the worst in the NFL with them. Figure it out. Other teams are.

I actually think you could trade slay and get solid value. Not great but some value in terms of draft pick. Bradberry likely have to bite the bullet like giants did in 2022 offseason. I think Maddox is more interesting. I wouldn’t rely on him but i think the eagles would bring him back and just have a better backup plan then they had this year. Similarly to what they had last year with CJGJ being able to go play in the slot when maddox was out.

I don't. They told him to seek a trade and he came back with nothing.

Do I think Ringo can play better than him right now? Hell no.

Desai will agree with you there.

This. There are defenses in the NFL right now, with less talent, that are playing so much better than the Eagles defense plays every week.

I think cause teams figured they were gonna cut him. I don’t think teams expected what happened. Frankly i didn’t. I thought he was gone. I think a team on the cusp that wants a 1 year guy would give you a 5th with conditions on it.

He was ready to be a Raven. Slay was gone. Unless you're talking about the trade deadline?

It's easy to hate on lately but he's been a very good Eagle. He loves it here, his wife loves it here and the team loves having him. Sad thing about sports is sometimes you move on from personalities you love. Would have been totally fine with him being a Raven.

"I was almost, I was almost, this close, a Baltimore Raven," Slay said, while showing his fingers an inch apart. "I was this close. But I wanted to be an Eagle. I stayed an Eagle because I know me and [Eagles General Manager] Howie [Roseman] were going to figure something out but the Baltimore Ravens was the first team that called, and they offered just what I wanted. And I just said if the Eagles do that, I'm going to stay an Eagle."

I think there’s a lot of name value of players that aren’t close to what they have been on the past. I also think our pass rush has 3-4 guys who are consistent likely wearing down and the rest have been MIA
