I get all that.  But with this offense, we shouldn’t be worried about the defense and a piece or two on the O Line.

My issue is that this offense should be scoring 30+ points a game, with their eyes closed.  No more excuses.

Read a good reminder that every deep playoff run this team has had in the past 20 years had a doom and gloom theme in December/towards the end of the year for each team.

2004: TO breaks his leg

2008: McNabb benched, loss to Washington

2017: Wentz goes down

2022: Hurts gets injured, losses to DAL and NO

2023: Blown out by SF and DAL

If we’re in rebuild mode with a borderline Pro Bowl roster on offense then we’re in a lot worse trouble than I thought.  Granted our defense isn’t good - our D line is decent.

If we can’t win with this roster; they should fire the entire coaching staff.  (Other than Stoutland, He’s here for life) No joke.  If our defense gives up 30 pints a game, we should be scoring 40 with this much talent on offense.

Ask yourselves, what would an Andy Reid coaching staff do with this team?  Then go from there.

My gosh, can you imagine what Andy or MS would do with those weapons? It would be unreal.

Difference is those teams were well coached and the defense wasn't last in the league. Good coaches can turn bad play around but not when they are the biggest problem. I want to have hope but they seem too stubborn or incapable.

The past two games teams have been running on us , the way we would we running against opposing teams when the pass wasn’t working. Now , neither are working. I have full faith the eagles OL and co. Will figure out the run game first and foremost and nearly 100% everything sorts itself out offensive wise once that moment happens. Every time. So dominate the run game like you’re supposed to, increase time of possession , give your defense a much needed breather. Sprinkle in a turnover differential that’s in our favor…in the words of Clay Davis, from "The Wire” : "Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit”

who else do you want the ball to go to?

Covey.

Good point. Seems like these guys should take more plays off to stay fresh. Don't want to burn them out.

Smith leads the NFL in WR snaps.
Brown is 4 in WR snaps.
The Duo is 1 in the NFL in WR snaps.

The 2 of them are playing more than any other 2 wrs on any other team.

Find other wrs or tes or versatile freakbeasts to throw to or carry the ball, or block, or throw.   The offense feels incomplete.  There should be more players doing more things and not just Smith and Brown over and over again.  Hurts Smith Brown and Goedert are all good,  so it doesn't mean losses when you're throwing to them.  But there is such a thing as wearing out.

Put Covey in more is a simple solution.  He's active.  Albert O is generally inactive. VanSumeren, Michigan Fullback as well as Michigan State LB, could be used in the Quez spot.

AJ Brown - Albert O
Smith - Quez, Oz
Quez, Oz - Covey

I’ve been hinting at it for weeks but no more hinting.

This is a vanilla looking, boring looking offense and defenses have figured it out.  When I see 2 guys going out, covered by 4-5 guys, over and over again - Houston, we have a problem.

Ironic. Kettle meet pot.

Again, where the F did I say it was a highest priority or a higher priority then those positions? You keep making arguments i didn’t say or bring up. JFC. Other teams aren’t making it top priority. However, there’s still going out and do it. You just keep making Bs excuses about why they can’t and haven’t and why it shouldn’t matter.

here’s my priority list of what they should do this offseason

1. lb

2. corner

3. pass rush

4. Long term lane replacement

5. depth along the interior oline

6. backup WR

7. Backup TE

bur according to you it’s hopeless to do all 7 of those due to salary cap and/or draft pick constraints. It’s gonna be too financially and/or draft capital crippling to upgrade our backup WRs and TEs. We totally should just keep ignoring it until it eventually catches up to us.

Albert Ok should have the ball thrown at him more often,  to see if he's good.  He isn't being targeted.

Albert Ok has good size and speed,  if the Eagles threw to more than 3 pass catchers,  Albert would do Ok.

I like Tyree Jackson.  The Eagles could grab Tyree off the Giants practice squad.

Britain Covey is doing real well as punt returner, and as punt returner, he's active every week.   It would be simple to just give Covey some snaps at slot receiver, or backfield,  and have him run short routes.

I've been noticing the same thing,  and, probably there are a lot of typings about star to star by me.

The Eagles need to swing away from that at least for a bit because the stars are getting tired.

The Seattle game will be the real test LOL.

Did the Eagles just lose two games to really good teams who were more rested, or have the Eagles degenerated to the point they can’t beat the 6-7 and 5-8 teams in the league?  Or is the truth somewhere in the middle?  My concern with the current state of the team is twofold:

— playing a bend but don’t break defensive style (like a lot of teams are doing) only works properly if you don’t break — meaning the red zone defense needs to be much, much better.  I’m also quite concerned about the inability to get off the field even after inducing negative plays from the opponent.  Way too many 2nd and 18 and 3rd and 10+ getting converted by the opponent

— The offense needs to produce in the first half.  17-20 points needs to be the normal first half production, not 6 and 7 points.  Script the first 15 plays better, and a TD on the first offensive drive needs to be the expectation

He just blows it off...

This is why Nick isn’t a good decision maker and his days are numbered. Talent has covered his flaws and stubbornness. Doug was gone two years after lifting the trophy so his record means crap. The DG texts also show he is starting to lose the players.

Amateur hour.

Figure out how to get more players involved offensively.

Or go ra ra somewhere else.

Eagles got Superbowls to win.

Again, I’m all for improving the depth if it can be done at a reasonable cost. Lord knows I’ve had my issues with Quez. But there will be much higher priorities this off season, so we will see.

But people complaining about our 3 elite guys getting fed the ball seems odd to me.

To me it’s an issue of predictability. I’m not going to hype up the other options and they all certainly have their flaws (old and washed, drops etc.), but you have to at least involve them enough to keep opposing defenses from zeroing in on those 3. Involve them to move the chains. Even a 6 or 7 yard pass to a lumbering Stoll or Julio is better than these long developing plays that end up in negative plays if the main options are being taken away. Why are they using Jones on these stupid wide receiver screens? Aren’t there other possibilities of getting the ball to him? (He caught that TD in the red zone, so is there no chance that he can be involved between the 20’s to pick up positive yards in order to move the chains or make it a manageable 3rd?! He is just an example here, could be another player as well.

If we don’t consistently run the ball and only have three options throwing it, we are as predictable as it has been mentioned. It makes it a hell of a lot easier for the other team when they basically know what’s coming. Take away the two or three routes that Smith and Brown run and you’re in pretty good shape. That’s bad coaching and game planning IMO.

The route designs are more the problem, and even then, teams still haven’t consistently stopped anything.

They were moving the ball at will against DAL (even with crappy route trees), they just couldn’t stop fumbling.

Sign Ertz

Perhaps counterintuitive, but something I'd start doing immediately on defense is playing the rookies more. Smith, Brown, and Ringo offer speed, physicality, and toughness that we're just not seeing much of in this defense.

I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing if he can be the 3rd WR. Although I’m still not changing the target distribution much either way.

3 things that are much more important than 3rd WR or backup TE:

       1. Hurts taking what’s there…short routes that are open / check down to backs, etc

       2. Better route design by the coaches

       3. Stop effing fumbling

If you don’t fix those things first, a 3rd WR doesn’t make a lick of difference.

I also have been banging the table for them to activate and play Penny, but c’est la vie I suppose.

Seattle can be run on. SF showed that

too bad AJ doesnt block like their WRs…

We still have too many three and outs. That’s why it would be beneficial to involve more options, especially on first or second down, if they pass. It would/should put the O in a more manageable position on 3rd down.

I also think Hurts could do a better job of taking what the D is giving him. Why do we constantly use short routes or drop offs when we are in long situations? Idk, it seems we have totally gotten away from dink and dunk. Before it seemed like that was his only option (first year) and now it’s not even remotely an option. Not saying we should only „dink and dunk", but make it a part of the plan, especially if they take the long developing plays away.
