no way in hell he makes it past friday

Breaking the single game scoring record a week after getting shutout would be something.

'Suite Dreams' and 'Winter Comes' were personal favs listening through the previews first time around. Gonna twist one and play through again.

Digging the vibe with this. Good stuff man.

Staley is done.

Here’s a question for the EMB. Who would you rather have a D-Cord next year; Staley or Desai?

tough question. but i think i would go with staley. i think he is the same as Reich, much better coordinator than HC.

Neither…

I’d take the ghost of Buddy Ryan, Jim Johnson or Bud Carson 🤭

I know Eberflus worked with Rob Ryan… (and Siri for 3 seasons at Indy).

I did not watch the game so seeing that score this morning makes me feel like I woke up in a Parallel Universe.

That may be true, BUT his defenses with the Chargers has been his undoing.   A defensive coach turned HC is supposed to have a good defense.  But they might have the worst defense in the league... and over the span that he's been there it has gotten worse, not better.   So, I think I'd go with door #3.  Someone else.   Maybe Dennard Wilson.

I would take Eberflus as well.

I was wondering the other day whether the fact that someone like Reich or Daniels not coaching anywhere else is part of their severance agreement, or is they are effectively on gardening leave until the Super Bowl has finished.

Staley has finally been fired though, if reports are true.  Should have been done 12 months; dude was way past his level of incompetence.

I put the chances of the Eagles making a coordinator change, even in the offseason, at 0.5%.

The defensive scheme problems are a chicken/egg situation.  I don’t think anyone believes this is the defense Deseai would be running if the back 7 could cover a sleeping baby with a blanket.  If you do believe that, then yes, he should be fired yesterday.

I think there has been a complete loss of confidence in the ability of his players to do their job.  So he runs a conservative zone with a 4 man rush to keep things in front.

That strategy, however, is exhausting the defense.  They give up relentless, inevitable, long TD drives that exhaust, demoralize, and emasculate the defense.  You know what?  I’ll trade a few of those for a 7 second 60 yard TD bomb.  It actually gets the defense off the field, gets the offense back on faster for a better shot at a rhythm.  Let some guys blitz, try some press coverage so that EVERYONE isn’t wide open IMMEDIATELY against your soft zone.  You can’t do worse than 10 TDs in 10 drives and I’d argue that deep strike might even be better than what we are giving up now.

I don’t know that Desai is destined to be a bad DC.  There are 2 different jobs as a coordinator: dominating with a talented group and getting the best you can out of a limited group.  Desai has been tasked with the later this year.  That’s not the job you want your DC to be doing, but I do think he’s struggling with it.

Seems Eberflus has done a solid job with that Bears defense.

I don’t think they will change coordinators after the season. Desai doesn’t have the talent that we have on offense and I think that goes into that equation as well.

You know what, I actually agree with this and have suggested it by saying that we should blitz more and change things up. At least that way we have a chance of forcing a turnover or getting a negative play instead of giving up long drives that end in a TD anyways…You have to force the issue, at least sometimes. And when blitzing, don’t keep doing these slow, delayed blitzes.

Problem with the defense is organizational.   Hollywood Lurie wants and demands this awful style defense.  We have to hope his son ends up being better and Jeff passes the reins soon and takes more of a fan role as his son runs the team.
