So if Jurgens can't go who plays RG? Driscoll? Opeta? They will be seeing a lot of Leonard Williams.

Not calling you idiotic but that idea is. Hiding or holding back plays throughout the season for in case they make it to the playoffs is mind boggling. They needed to get to the playoffs first

They have 3 losses.

Do you think they are purposefully putting the #1 seed, the bye, and homefield advantage at risk because they'd rather lose a couple games to SF and DAL to not show their hand?

Turnovers, mental mistakes, poor execution, and fatigue have been costing this team on offense the last few weeks more than anything IMO. There's parts of the playbook I'm sure they haven't touched yet since they can't seem to execute the basics these days. Besides I'm more concerned about the defense more than anything. Example I'm sure they have much more to do out of the shove formation that we haven't seen yet

Opeta was the guy filling in during practice

What's that have to do with anything? A few of those losses they barely won and it was a dogfight. Thinking we were destined for the playoffs is revisionist history

They have 3 losses playing a very basic offense of hey playmakers go make plays. Revisionist what? Hell are you talking about?

Main thing is that it's an incredibly stupid idea to hold back because they want to wait until the playoffs

I never even looked up the score of that game until just now.  They gave up 63 points to a team who lost 3-0 last week.  That's hard to do.

Committing 3 turnovers in the first quarter giving the other team a short field is a good start.:dope-slap:

Teams do it every year... hell you talking about. They hold back parts of the playbook for a special day. Why do you think the Philly Special worked?

The Eagles haven't been holding anything back.  They were 10-1 and cruising until they played SF on short rest and lost in DAL, where they seldom have won over the past 5-10 years.  They're now in a position where they need to win out, so adjustments will be key finishing off the regular season -- hopefully with the ability to beat weaker teams and get to a 14-3 record.  That could get them the NFC #1 seed.

The offense needs to score more early and more often, and that will in itself fix some of the defense.  The defense is a mid-tier group; they're not going to be holding anyone to single-digits.  Scoring 30+ needs to be the norm.

And scoring 30+ with this amount of talent on offense shouldn’t be as difficult as they make it seem.

Strongly disagree but you're set so I'll end this

Agreed.  Blankenship should go to QB, Sydney Brown to RB... Hurts to SS, Swift to FS, and Penny to MLB.

Nothing to disagree about. It's clear that teams do it. They pull out the stuff that they haven't shown all year in the playoffs when it matters. In fact high performing teams that know they'll be in the playoffs intentionally put things on tape throughout the year then have tendency breakers during the playoffs. Chess not checkers.

That may be true, BUT his defenses with the Chargers has been his undoing.   A defensive coach turned HC is supposed to have a good defense.  But they might have the worst defense in the league... and over the span that he's been there it has gotten worse, not better.   So, I think I'd go with door #3.  Someone else.   Maybe Dennard Wilson.

it forsure was his undoing. but you see a lot of coordinators who get their chance fail. but then go back to being elite or good coordinators again. some guys just arent cutout to be a CEO HC. which i think was the case for Reich & now Staley. but put those guys back to coordinator roles where they can just focus on their side of the ball. they will once again be great.

Hindsight. We didn't know we'd have this record. Holding back throughout a season is an absolutely horrible idea

this season has gone fairly predictably.   The Eagles have more talent than the average team,  and won almost all of the games against average and below teams.   They only have 3 losses, and 2 were against top teams.

The downside of holding back has nothing to do with wins in the season,  the Eagles clearly had enough talent to get into the playoffs.  Things that the Eagles could be doing now wouldn't be a surprise in the playoffs.  However.  they would be practicing them and getting good at them before the playoffs.  So it's a trade off between being good at it and having it be a surprise.

Your argument, go as fast as you can at all times, is shared by others, but it's not clear that it's the majority opinion.   The Eagles coaching staff does not appear to disagree with you,  seeming to frown upon resting their star wrs who lead the NFL in snaps.    It's not clear though.  Maybe the regular season is when they get whatever they get in terms of wins while they burn out their stars.  Then,  the playoffs come,  and boom, something new and exciting and more wins in the playoffs.

Reich's offense didn't fail as a HC.  It's different for me with Staley.   I don't trust a defensive mind, whose defense sucked when he was a HC.   Equally, I wouldn't trust an offensive mind, whose offense sucks as an HC.   (Brian Billick leaps to mind.)

No they don't.

they're tired and they need rest.

The need rest more than they need to win out.

Idk if I would call any part of this season "cruising", they've been scratching and clawing to survive every game except the Dolphins game.

I don't think they've been holding anything back, and that's the big problem. We've seen who they are and what they've got, so far it's barely been enough against bad teams and it was outright embarrassing against good ones

i mean more so them being though about as being bad OC or DC. since Reich has been let go people think he is a bad OC. which i argue isnt the case at all. but i mean Reichs offense did let him down in Carolina. it also was because of a lack of talent.

i mean Dan Quinns defenses in ATL had one good year. sure Staleys hasnt been elite ever lol. but i think Staley has a chance to end up taking the Dan Quinn road as a DC. to me there is a reason Dan Quinn hasnt felt the need to leave he probably knows being a HC just isnt for him.  we will see if he leaves this year.

You're making some very good points.   The Eagles should be in the category of teams that know they'll be in the playoffs.

Kentucky Derby.  Every horse starts the race by running as fast as they can immediately.

Boxing.  Both fighters just run up to the other guy and try to throw as many punches in as short a time as possible.

The Eagles should have some innovations for the playoffs.  Maybe they'll fix that "no big back to run out the clock in the 4th Q thing", and maybe if they unveil that answer in the playoffs, they could use it in other situations.

It seems that this whole season has been similar to "we have more talent than most teams on the regular season schedule,  so we just use the most talented players as often as possible and then get the wins that way."  Go, talent guy,  beat your man over and over,  or just a little bit more often than the other team scores.    Offense is throw to Brown, throw to Smith.

Sure looks like it.  It is a Habitat chapter.  They have done it before and award gets mailed.  Friend turned me onto them.
