This is just weird.  The Eagles have tripped over their own feet with things like this in the past.

The Eagles are 10-3.  I have complaints, but they are 10-3.  I support firing Desai.  I support NOT firing Desai and sticking with him.  At 10-3 and after going to the SB last year, they can do WHICHEVER they want and not be called idiots.

But you can't emasculate your DC and still call him your DC.  We've got the article on the secondary asking to do their own scouting (whatever the hell that means anyway) and Patricia calling the defense from the sidelines.  If Desai isn't the DC anymore, then make the move.  Coaches aren't players.  You can't bench him for a week to see how it goes.

If it’s about the money then that’s a poor reason to keep him on and hope he resigns. Have more than enough money for it to really not be the reason. Frankly I’d be more worried if i were them that they fired him and he go to another team like Dallas or Sf and he gives them info on the team that helps them this year.

Exactly. It’s a half measure. Never go half measures.

Agreed, but I think this staff is lost and this is Lurie and Howie just trying to pull the plug the easiest and non disruptive way they can. We are 10-3 and have (2) coordinators that have been so poor they both deserved to be fired last Monday on the spot. But to Howie and Lurie I’m sure that makes you look weak and compromised , even at 10-3, so we are finding a way to do this the most "professional” way (in their eyes)

Something had to be done obviously, but we’re just doing it in a way that no one would expect a 10-3 team to do so, or would think a 10-3 team would HAVE to do

Kamu out there kicking for CAR

Poor Desai, let's give him dreck at LB, old slowing corners, barely anything at safety but hold him 100% responsible. Pretty bad and sad. Howie needs to be front and center of this disaster. This is his scheme and coaches and players.
Hurts' childhood family friend gets off though. He has way more talent yet Hurts is regressing, the plays take forever to get off, nothing innovative, run game is trash. Siri needs to take a hit here too mostly. I thought he was some offensive guru? Not at all.

Howie screwed the pooch with these coordinators and defensive failures and scoffing at the run game. Great way to send of Kelce and company too. Window will be closing at the end of this year folks unless he gets his head out of someone's ass whether it's Lurie or Halaby or whoever it is.

The biggest indictment on Desai, or any other below-average defense (ex: Washington), is what's happening in Minnesota. The Vikings are not a talented unit whatsoever and are giving tons of teams problems.

When's the last time Lurie made a 3rd down stop? HUH??

This guy already jumped the shark. Impressive.

The major difference is that this was Desai's 2nd DC stint, not his first.

Completely fair.  Just interesting that Mcdermott oversaw a terrible defense and Bowles oversaw a terrible secondary.  In Mcdermott's case, I think he was too aggressive in trying to fill Jim Johnson's shoes.  Everything was very complex.  It was a less capable defense that was already trending down and he bogged them down even more.

Spadaro, normally useless...at the time that Mcdermott was fired...actually said, just watch, this guy will be a HC in this league.  So I think there was always something there with Mcdermott; he just really screwed up his first opportunity by trying to run before he (or his players) could walk.

Bowles just got swept up in a regime change and had personnel in the secondary that was bad...but no one realized they were bad yet (DRC, Nmandi, Coleman, Boykin, March...everyone thought those guys were good at the time).

I don't think it's about money at all.  The Eagles aren't cheap, but they are highly skittish with PR.

They don't want to say they fired their DC mid season at 10-3.  This is like benching the franchise QB to see what you have in the backup but changing their jerseys so no one knows you did it.  I think they want a free look at another approach without dealing with the media fallout of making a change.

Eh I’ll defend desai on the personnel isn’t good enough to consistently look good against teams with offenses like Dallas and SF and even Buffalo or ravens. i do believe the bigger issue is personnel wise and the use of the fangio scheme. Think when we run into them again it’ll play itself out that way

But the defense still should not have been as bad as where they are in some of these categories. Desai deserves blame in this. He’s not absolved from blame.

Granted, I'd never dress like that in a million years, but the black pinstriped mobster suit was a look.  And it kind of worked.  Now he's just making it about himself and turning himself into a cartoon.

I’m just going off based on what was told to crossing broad on Saturday night that they sat on. I would be surprised if it were about money. They’ve never been cheap and will spend on coaches hiring and firings

if it were me and i am the Eagles, I don’t want him going somewhere else until the off-season. Don’t let him give intel to your opponents. and if I know I’m gonna fire him at the end of the year anyway and that’s a decision that’s been made, I might as well get ahead of the curve and just see what Matt Patricia can do. Because Matt Patricia’s ok then we just move on with him. But if he’s awful, then we really gotta go outside the organization to find somebody.

that said, crossing broad leaking out that it’s about money isn’t a good look

I can't get on board with those who said Desai and the defense were sucking for weeks, suddenly saying the Eagles panicked by demoting Desai. You can't have it both ways.

Yup. Fans have been screaming for accountability, change, firing coordinators.

As soon as they do, some complain it's desperation and question what kind of Super Bowl contender does that.

Had to go sad face…I’m starting Garrett Wilson in the playoffs

You guys remember when some of us thought Desai and the defense finally turned the corner after that Dolphins game..... lol

Like you said about firing him now and having him hemorrhage intel to opponents...that's part of the fallout.  As an aside, I don't know how much he could possibly leak because the entire premise would be to fairly aggressively change the defensive approach without him here, but we know teams, especially the Eagles, are sensitive about that stuff.

Assuming there is fire behind all of this smoke and it's not just a ton of panic over tinkering, it seems they wanted to fire him but didn't want to deal with the consequences.

This is like breaking up with someone but keeping your stuff at their house and still hooking up with them.  We've all done that, right ?🤣

I could be way off, but I swear KC seems to get more defensive holding calls than any team in the league.

Probably directly proportional to their level of crying.

Phantom hold call on the Pats interception. Then two plays later, KC holding right in front of the ref and no flag.

Not watching their game, but after their terrible reactions last week, I wouldn't be surprised if KC stops getting their darling treatment from the refs.

No flag for the Kelce drop???

Kelce just dropped an easy TD because he was afraid to get hit

Not so far, they just had another very timely "holding” that negated a turnover.
