Now we know why Slay opted to have his knee operated on. He was probably playing through an injury, but has no interest in doing so for Patricia. So, he decides to just do it now and miss a bunch of weeks.

What i thought of as well

I never screamed about change or firing anyone besides Aaron Moorhead, so I’ll maintain my stance that this isn’t a good thing for a SB contender.

Theres also the whole "if you start listening to the fans, you’ll be sitting up there with them”.

My comment was in general not to you. But anyone who has been asking for change, asking for Desai to be fired should not then contradict themselves and criticize the very thing they asked for.

Yeah, but Lurie never will... :P.  And I feel that at times like this, he's the one pulling the strings (or Howie... who is basically just an extension of Lurie at this point.   Howie has a job for life.)

Pack need to give up on Love tbh.  He’s not it.

Bo Wulf made a good point in his recent article. Hiring Patricia as a "Senior Defensive Assistant” hides him from media availability. Keeping Desai as "Defensive Coordinator” in title still hides Patricia from media availability. I wonder if they are going to trot Desai out there Wednesday for his PC.

That would be inexcusable.

If game day, as many have pointed out, is an issue, then getting Patricia to do it makes a ton of sense.  Coming from Belichick tree will always make me nervous, but if things can't get any worse, then do it now when he has some weeks to get into the scheme and the players can adjust before the playofs.

The timing is not good, emasculating for Desai but it's about winning games not feelings.  The whole Byard thing makes a ton more sense now.

Fair enough. I’ve been pushing the "SB contender” angle hard today. I agree it would be silly to clamor for this and then just complain when it happens.

It would, but, they did it already Thursday. I doubt they made this move just a day or two ago in the middle of practice days.

From that article

But it became increasingly clear that Desai’s game plans — which strayed from some of Fangio’s core structures — contributed to the Eagles’ slow starts and that he struggled to marry his pass rush with his coverages.

Now we just need to bring in Reich and hand him offensive playcalling.

Lost in the incredible Howie rebuild straight to the SB last year and 10 wins this year is the reminder that the Eagles do stuff like this.  We remember all the talk that Doug was initially here to be controlled, then Siri was hired with the same intentions.  The requirements that Lurie/Howie determine the coaching staff, not Doug.  Howie is a great rebuilder and a lot of that drama was lost amidst the great moves and successes.  But they do pull strings from above and try to pull off weird crap.  Changing the workflow and firing the DC without firing the DC is kind of on-brand.

I'm more interested in the spin that Sirianni tries to push in the post game relating to this.

That would be great.

He can get some blame sure, but who hired him? This is the scheme Howie wants therefore why Desai was even brought here. He's the one who won't bring in even average linebackers at minimum, same at safety. He extended older slowing corners...

oh i don’t disagree with you on those points. Their organizational philosophy on defense is hurting them. And their lack of personnel is as well. I don’t think Patricia is fixing the issues when they get to teams like Sf and Dallas. I think they’ll still show up cause their personnel is the bigger issue along with wanting to run a fangio type system.

F their pay wall.  Will never pay for that trash.

"It starts with me” then a story about his brother at UTEP and 10 more minutes of talking without answering the question.

Define ‘great’. I’m 50/50 on the personnel thing.  Nothing desai calls makes sense for what they ask the DL to do.

I’d be surprised mclane didn’t ask slay about Patricia for another article lol.

Given what we’ve seen, I think Patricia got humbled from his experience in Detroit.  At least we can hope.

Eagles beats, as always, giving off real Gossip Girl energy with this news

Begged for Siri to do something so he did

It doesn’t scream panic to me. It shows that they’re concerned and want do something differently.

Part of me wonders how long the eagles thought they’d be able to withhold the info from becoming public. I’m guessing if it wasn’t broken today someone would’ve made a comment about desai and not being on the sideline.

Eh think that is more your hope. People said same thing with josh mcdaniels until he got back to where he wanted and basically was the same.
