He wasn't "Fired", he was "Reassigned".    He's now in charge of making sure Dom stays off the field.  Or, Dom's in charge of keeping Desai off the field.    I think they are both in charge of watching each other.

Sure, because the DB would have been playing 7-10 yards off and wouldn't have been in position to make the tackle.
