But early in the morning he arrived again in the temple area, and all the people started coming to him, and he sat down and taught them. Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery and made her stand in the middle. They said to him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” They said this to test him, so that they could have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger. But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he bent down and wrote on the ground. And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders. So he was left alone with the woman before him. Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She replied, "No one, sir.” Then Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, [and] from now on do not sin any more.”]

If only you scrutinized your Buddhist texts as you do Jesus', maybe you'd learn something. The written accounts of Jesus all came after his death, it doesn't invalidate them at all. That was the entire point and why he didn't write a manifesto, so people like you would have a choice to accept them in faith or reject them. You've made your choice.

Ya'll remember that viral video where two chicks and a guy pulled some other guys pants down and finger banged his arse on the street? Some poor dude had the same thing happen and got it recorded for perpetuity in the Holy Book. And now its a metaphysical law for all to adhere to.
July 2, 20242 yr Deuteronomy is between 5 thousand to 9 thousand years old. A little context can go a long way. Things were a little different back then.

Mike over here draws the line at 2 thousand year old texts as opposed to 5 thousand year old ones. The former? Totally stale and out of touch. But the latter? Fresh and innovative!

Way, way Waaait a second. I thought you just spent the last 5 pages of this thread mocking and denouncing "Christians' who cherry pick what they like of the religion.

It's amazing that a highly devout Catholic like you wouldn't understand the difference between the old testament and new. Weird, almost like you hate your own religion.

Do you understand that Deuteronomy is an ancient Jewish text? You're absolutely clueless. Jesus' life was to establish a new covenant with humankind and that is why the new testament exists.

No, I just don't have a literal interpretation like you. If I did, then all the rank misogyny and archaic attitudes on family life would make me a fundamentalist weirdo in the year 2024.
