December 2, 20231 yr We have 3 christmas trees. All artificial because thats the way to go. Living room pre-lit is on its 3rd year. All white lights still on. They are LED which can change to colored lights, but some of them dont work when on color. We keep them white and all is good. Got a smaller 6.5 foot tree to put down in the basement for my kids since that is now their game room. This is the first christmas that they are able to use that space down there so I wanted to decorate it for them. This pre-lit tree was only 39 dollars at wal mart. The living room tree before we got any ornaments hung this year. There is also a tiny tree on the nightstand in my kids bedroom. Got some battery operated colored led lights to string around it, and it goes on when they go to bed.

My dad repurposes old artificial trees into oversized wreaths to hang on your house. I keep telling him he should make it a business

Then I decided to stop torturing us with the hassle, mess and finding stray needles for the subsequent next decade. I would never ever go back to a real tree. We have a consistently beautiful pre-lit tree that we add some additional lights to and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a nice holiday tradition to pick out or cut down a tree but we do other things for our holiday memories instead like visiting Longwood Gardens and Dutch Wonderland. They are so much easier that we have two now the main one in our family room and an Irish/Croatian tree for our living room. This was last year. I don’t care if you guys say you can tell it’s artificial! Lol, I have the exact fireplace and that’s where I normally place my tree. The only differences are that I have windows on each side of the fireplace and a dark brown mantle. Keystone home?
December 4, 20231 yr I don't have a picture of it, but I did an unconventional tree one year for the basement. 2010 maybe. Believe it is a German/Dutch tradition to take a cherry tree or like branch tree you find out in your backyard and wrap the branches in cotton. I started wrapping the week before Thanksgiving. It's time consuming. I used the big old nostalgic lights (green, red, purple and yellow). You put the lights on first with electric tape, so the cotton covers the wires and tape. Silver tinsel, and ornaments. I recycled some old Christmas cards and hung some of those. I would do it again but a much smaller version, like tabletop size. Looks something like this:
