I think that’s the big question bud… Will it happen? Can they play better? We know they are better than what they’ve shown but can they pull it together?

Are they though?  We've been hearing this all season.  It's late December ... hard not to think that ,,, by now ... this team is exactly what we've been seeing all season.

Obviously having talent is critical.  But that alone won't overcome a scheme that is predictable such that opposing defenses know what you will be doing before you even do it.  We simply are not maximizing the talent we have with a completely underwhelming scheme that lacks any creativity.  Sirianni was best when he had a sidekick that had a wealth of experience with play design and game planning.  He absolutely needs that again.

Im not rooting for anyone in that game. If the Cowboys don't win I doubt the Vikings take care of things on the road and the Eagles get the 3 seed.

Completely agree with you! We need an experienced OC that can help design the scheme as well as call plays. Steichen did that but BJ doesn’t seem to be able to. We know Siriannis strength isn’t in play calling or offensive scheming.

Narratives shift from week to week.  The 49ers were called frauds earlier in the year when they lost 3 in a row (yes I know they had injuries, the Eagles have had lots of injuries and the leagues toughest schedule, the 49ers have one of the league's easiest schedules).

The Cowboys lost to the Cardinals.  The Chiefs lost to the Broncos.  The Eagles lost to the Jets in a fluke game where also Lane Johnson went out with injury.  Things happen, every team in the NFL is up and down throughout the year.  The Bills were written off, then got hot.  People on this board actually feared the Giants and how hot Tommy Cutlets got, then against the Eagles he gets benched.  The Cowboys went from hot to frauds to hot again and then lost in a blowout to the Bills then lost to the Dolphins (who Eagles dominated) are frauds again.  

The 49ers got hot and everyone feared them...the Ravens dominated them and Purdy gets benched.

There is really not a team that is a juggernaut that is unbeatable, the league is a bit more even among the winning teams these days.  The Ravens have been pretty consistent and they now have 12 wins to lead the league but nobody is talking about them being great or unbeatable, 49ers get all the attention.

Playoff seeding isn't based on how many points you score or how close games are.  The Eagles are tied with several top teams with 11 wins.

They should be.  It's coaching.  The talent on offense should be dominating, the coaching and play calling/design are holding them back.  It had bred a lack of confidence and mental mistakes, with players that have proven themselves prior.  It's coaching mostly.  And player accountability yes, but this offense has a 1,000 yard rusher and two 1,000 yard receivers yet  they are unhappy because of how the offense is being run.

As long as the Eagles win the Giants game in week 18 I think they hold all the tiebreakers over Dallas regardless of what Dallas does the next two weeks. We should be rooting for 49ers to drop a game over the next two weeks. I don't care about the result of the Dallas/Lions game, but I wouldn't want to root for either team. I'd be more concerned with the Lions matching the Eagles in wins and that could raise their strength of victory tiebreaker scenario.

If we only beat the Giants (lose to the Cardinals) such that we end 12-5 and Dallas wins out to also end 12-5, we would be even in the first 2 tiebreakers (head-to-head and division record ... we would both be 5-1).  We would be even in the 3rd tiebreaker as well (record in common games ... we are currently 2-2 in those games having beaten Miami and Buffalo (Dallas lost to both) and having lost to the Jets and Seahawks (Dallas beat both) ... Dallas lost to the Cardinals earlier so a loss to them tomorrow leaves us 3-3 in common games.  However, we would lose the 4th tiebreaker (record in conference games ... we would end up 8-4 while Dallas would end up 9-3), sooooo we either need to win out or have Dallas drop one of their remaining games to win the division.

Regarding Detroit, holding the same record (11-4) and same conference record (7-3) currently, if we both win out they would win the 3rd tiebreaker (record in common games) - they would be 5-1 while we would be 4-2.  

Best case scenario is we win out, Detroit beats Dallas (I just can't bring myself around to hoping Dallas wins tonight) and then they drop their finale against Minnesota while SF also drops one of their remaining games (best chance is likely against the Rams in their finale ... hard to see Washington giving them much of a fight but stranger things have happened).

The Eagles held the tiebreaker over the Cowboys in the event of a 13-4 tie. But Dallas wins it if the teams end up tied at 12-5. So no, the Eagles do not win a tie with the Cowboys at this point.

So as long as the Eagles handle their business then we need to hope Detroit and SF both drop a game over the next two weeks. I also think the Rams are a likely candidate to beat SF. Detroit could very likely lose the Dallas game. Beat the Cards and the Giants and we don't have to worry about Dallas anyway since they fell on their faces against the Bills and Miami.

Today is the best chance for a Lions loss. I would be shocked if the Lions lost to that turnover machine Mullens at home.

Eagles control their own destiny in regards to the division, but they still need help for the conference. These bum Cowboys can’t even get the job done at home.

We need to win out and hope 40whiners lose one of the 2 and we get the no.1 seed.
