It doesn't matter who the target is.  It's a strategy employed by evangelicals to pick a wedge issue, draw a line, in their attempt to dismantle secularism. But as in the marriage debate, attitudes can change, and once the line they've drawn goes too far; they've lost the debate.

I'm sure that is their strategy, but it doesn't mean the left has to take the bait.  Republicans want to scream about trans sheet, who cares?  I have essentially no concern about trans-specific rights.  Human rights where they pertain to trans people?  Absolutely, they should be protected just like everyone else.  But rights that are specific to trans people?  I truly couldn't care less.  We're talking about a very tiny percentage of people and if everything's not fair for them, I just really don't care.  Life isn't fair for everyone.  If they have to live an imperfect life, then get in line, I'm not willing to give an easy win to the people that want to dismantle democracy in order to coddle the feelings of a few trans people.
