DeSantis acolytes are all over Florida's DoE. It's not at all a stretch to believe that this has DeSantis' full support if not a directive. It's entirely consistent with his focus on culture war issues. It's how he politicks.

The chancellor does talk about a positive of it, but it’s a bit of a distance from a meeting with the DoE and the Governor pushing to have students take this
