You're exactly right. And then 10 years from now, we will hear that there are no minorities that are representatives or spokesmen or spokeswomen of corporate brands.
February 27, 20232 yr To be fair, the issue wasn't that it had a power saving mode, it's that the default setting for this mode is changed via an update. Which for users who are unaware, could cause confusion and frustration. Google Maps pulled this ish too with an update a year or so ago where they updated the default Maps setting to prioritize "eco routes" over faster routes, if the differences in travel time were marginal. The problem is that their definition of marginal was something like 5-10 min on a route less than an hour or something to that effect. And in practice, that difference can end up being much longer since eco routes usually use backroads instead of highways where local traffic and light timing can be more unpredictable than highway traffic. So while FNC is of course blowing this way out of proportion and forcing in some culture war BS about indoctrinating kids, it's also fair to critique when companies pull stunts like this which is likely to piss off users of their products. If I want to utilize these power-saving settings, they are there in the settings for me to turn them on. Changing the settings remotely and without adequate warning, is just dumb, and needs to stop.

After an exhaustive search, we found a plastic bottle of, Heaven help me, Log Cabin 'maple' syrup (yes, I have made a note to see who needs to be fired for both of these horrific lapses. Running out, and having plastic bottle syrup in the pantry). Thankfully, there were no social equals at the events, just lesser family members, so the only sting was having to serve such low fare.

I thought Log Cabin syrup was woke-canceled for being too white rural. I'm pretty sure it's been rebranded to Progressive Non-Gentrified Rent-Controlled Flat Syrup
