I think that encounter was likely preceded by more than one simple request. Again, I'll have to agree to disagree that non mask wearers should be harassed and recorded while shopping, and, again, I'm a big proponent of wearing masks. That's fine. You can have any opinion you want. Once again, a POS loses his job. Sounds like a good day.

So there's no chance that this dude might be an OK guy who had a 20 second lapse in judgement? It's good that his life is ruined over the encounter? What if he's got kids?

July 8, 20205 yr 25 minutes ago, Kz! said: OK, elderly women can still harass people, right? What do you think preceded the video? Who pulls out a cellphone and starts recording people unless they are trying to illicit a reaction for internet likes? I'd be shocked if the lady didn't do anything but ask him to put a mask on and that was his initial reaction. I just think we've set up a very dangerous new world here. This, the dog lady, other Karens, etc. This dude's life is ruined over a 17 second viral clip. It was most likely preceded by him being followed/recorded and shamed for not wearing a mask until he lashed out. I don't think it's something to celebrate that he lost his job because someone posted the video and "Twitter did its thing" until they doxxed him and contacted his employer. It's downright sick in the middle of a pandemic when work is hard to come by especially if he is the breadwinner of a household with children. What if the elderly lady did say something that you'd consider verbal "harassment". That's still no excuse to physically charge at her screaming like a lunatic. It's borderline assault. If that guy has the proclivity to make such poor decisions then, as an employer, I can't risk him making those same decisions while he's on the clock. He represents a risk to the company and the employees around him. People who prove themselves to be liabilities to everyone around them don't deserve to be gainfully employed. That's the simple truth. It's the employer's right and responsibility to find someone to replace him that isn't likely to do something stupid like he did.

He should have thought about his family (and the family of others) before deciding not to wear a mask.

If he's insecure enough to put everyone in danger just so he doesn't look weak in a mask, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that he's also sensitive enough to fly off the handle based on a polite request.

I would guess that, yes, that encounter was preceded by something more than a simple question. I guess you disagree?
July 8, 20205 yr 18 minutes ago, Kz! said: Meh, I always wear a mask, but following someone and shaming them is inappropriate. I mean, just last week, I went into a Publix without one. Had a mask sitting on my front seat and every intention of putting it on, but about halfway through the trip inside, I realized I didn't have it on. I don't think that warrants someone following me around the store and filming me. In that situation, either you realize you don't have one on when you see everyone else wearing a mask. Or someone says something and you realize you forgot it and you go back and get it. If, at that point, someone STILL wants to be a dick then they'll be the ones looking like psychopaths screaming at someone who has their mask on.

Correct. But I think the context of what happened is important when determining if we should celebrate the fact that this guy's life is ruined. If he was being followed, filmed, and harassed prior to the incident, I think it's kind of **** that people formed a virtual lynch mob to get him doxxed and fired. If the lady politely asked him to wear a mask, and the 17 second video captured his immediate response to that request, he's a complete psycho who probably seek professional help. 2 minutes ago, Paul852 said: And you just assume everyone is well-adjusted without serious issues? People are doing this ish for fun.
