This team was just shredded last week on the ground, you gained 8 yards but you throw a pass. Just run it, get the first down, and go time the drive. Offense was moving the ball just fine and scoring despite the limited opportunities. The last drive with the bizarre two straight QB runs sucked, but overall the offense looked good. Can't win if the defense isn't making any stops. The defense should have just let Dortch score instead of missing tackles and wasting time and a timeout. Offense needed to do more though. 24 points is not enough against a defense that was near the bottom of the league in nearly every key category. Too many players going through the motions and not thinking when on the field. On the one scramble from Jalen where he went right and then tried to come back left, if Smitty would have stopped trying to block (which he was failing at) and cut upfield towards the end zone, it would have been a TD or first down play. Instead he half asses blocked and failed, which forced Hurts to slide down for a loss. The lack of recover on the fumble was another example. We finally blitz today, but still have our D Backs playing well off the line, allowing for easy short throws to beat the blitz. It’s High School scheming out there. You let Bradberry go and who’s taking his spot? Rick’s has been bad and Ringo certainly doesn’t look like he’s ready. Maddox should go as well so who’s the slot guy? They have no answers for anyone that they’ll lose much like this past offseason. Expect a dramatic down turn next year where they win 7 or 8 games if that.
