Idk not once in their 10 wins did I come away thinking "wow this team is good", most of the time it was "wow got lucky again" or "why are we struggling against mediocre teams like Washington and New England". And the answer at that point was "it's early in the season, a win is a win". And then finally the levee broke and they got their ish pushed in through their mouths for 2 months

I remember saying after about 7/8 weeks that we didn’t know whether this team was going to kick on or whether this team "was what it was”. I think we all had hope it was going to kick in to gear but after several weeks it started to seem very likely that actually this team wasn’t going to do that.

I agree that there was never a "wow, this team is good” moment. We all basically waited for them to play ONE complete good game. Our expectations were very high because of last year and the way they played (especially Hurts) in the SB. Even with some of the lucky outcomes, they still did enough to win those games.
Even the D was somewhat "respectable”, although still pretty bad on the back end. Injuries to the already suspect LB & safety group only magnified it even more.

Something really broke after the SF thrashing and it was waaaaaaaaay more than the previous games could have suggested.

But the question still is, did anyone expect it to go THIS BAD?! Even the most negative person couldn’t have suspected this type of monumental collapse.

Oh no absolutely not. I expected us to revert to the mean a little. Win say 3 of the last 6 or something like that. And that’s why I think Sirianni needs to go. To lose to Seattle, NYG and Arizona after heavy losses to SF and Dallas? To be stomped in the play offs like that too? It’s really bad.

They should hold the Combine in Frankfurt, Germany.   I'm sure the Germans would love that... sell tickets and get the juices flowing for the new German franchise.

😂 I would rather have an Eagles game in Frankfurt😎 I know, I’m the only one here wanting this, but nonetheless I’d love that.
Frankfurt has probably the biggest fan support for the NFL in Germany. The Galaxy was tops in attendance back then. A time long long ago….

Yep, it was monumental and that’s why so many people question Sirianni staying. We had loses to the worst teams and not only that, they smoked us. That’s the thing, they looked like complete garbage as a whole. Something drastic really blew this team up.

You're not the only one - I'd love to be able to see the Eagles in Europe, much shorter flight for me than to Philly. Bound to happen sooner or later.

I could take the train.🤭😅

Again, it would be a dream come true.

And one of these days I’m gonna see them at the Linc, at least I hope so.

💯

If you watched those early games and thought this team was good idk what to tell you. The cracks were there at the very beginning, mostly on defense at first, and as the weeks went on the offense looked worse.

As the weeks went on...bingo

I didn't say they were atrocious, I said they weren't good. They weren't, they were average to mediocre early on and only got worse

Nope. They beat the NFL elite teams.  Like all of them.  Till the 49ers game.

End of the season they couldn't even hang close with the giants.

That's not luck.  That's a huge difference in level of play. Clearly.

Correct

He was a problem this year through his complete mismanagement of the defense. Let every LB and S from last year go elsewhere besides Blankenship and Dean who are always hurt. His trades for byard and Albert o sucked. He was bad

I just want to point out that Blank misses many less games than the EMB love child Gardner-Johnson does, but yes, he could be more healthy.

The season was weird, but we played an excellent game against Miami.  We all felt pretty good after that.

Game sure has changed. Can you imagine the NFL making a video actually celebrating their QBs getting sacked let alone talking about them like this? How many penalties in 2024 do you count?

Shame the Tweet says "rifle waves"... John clearly says "tidal waves".  ( What even IS a rifle wave?  )

Of course, those were the days when the QB position was played by men.  Today if these get touched they cry for flags.

He was probably underrated when he was here and overrated now that he's gone. But there's no doubt, he's better than what they put on the field this year.

Funny thing about the GM vs. the fans.

Its the GM's job to be BETTER than the fans at evaluating talent.   He has all the information, he has access to the coaches' evaluation, access to the scouts' evaluations... all of it.

If he's no better than the fans, then he shouldn't have the job.    You don't give your money to a financial advisor and are satisfied when he's producing the same results that you can produce on your own.  In that case, what are you paying him for?    The expected results are that he's better than you at evaluations and reading the market.   That's what he's supposedly doing as a full time job... studying, learning, talking to find the right pieces.  It's literally his whole purpose...

He whiffed on Edwards.  He whiffed on White.  He whiffed on expecting that Morrow and Dean were going to able to handle the job, so he went out and brought in Jack and Cunningham... another whiff.   At least they were cheap.  That's the goal, right?

Then you go back to the Safety level, and.... He whiffed on Epps.  He whiffed on CJGJ.  He allowed Blankenship's brief time as a fill in player to convince him that he wasn't a depth player, but that he could be the starter.  And then he decided that he didn't need to add a CB in the draft... wouldn't Joey Porter be a nice piece to build around in this secondary?  Nolan Smith was a fun story with him being yet another Georgia player... and yet when it comes to actual production... he's a guy we have to hope figures out the NFL, meanwhile Porter is already on his way to being a top 5 corner in the league.

When you let the middle of your defense walk and try to replace ALL of them, that's a recipe for disaster, not a recipe for success.  And frankly, that should have been obvious.  We can debate the individual decisions, but these decisions weren't made in a vacuum.  Sometimes having continuity is a major element in not having a complete collapse.  AND, not only did the decision hurt them in the starting lineup, but it also gutted the depth, so that when the injuries showed up, there was no one left to turn to.

He likely should have keep one of Edwards/White... and one of Epps/CJGJ.   The timeline seemed to show that they prioritized CJGJ, and by the time that ship sailed, Epps was already gone.   But, again, that's his failure to read the market, to read the individual players and his willingness to wait for them to hit the market, rather than locking them up in the days/weeks leading up to free agency.  He screwed up.  And its HIS job not to screw up, not the job of the fans.

He isn't overrated. Two seasons in a row with a PFF grade over 80. He's the real deal. However, I don't believe Clay Harbor's claim. It's well documented that Edwards is a life-long Bears fan from a family of diehard Bears fans and dreamed of playing for the Bears. He had a deal in place for less than his market value 15 minutes into free agency. There is no evidence suggesting he wanted to remain here. His agent would have reached out, even if Howie didn't first.

The Eagles had a contingency plan when they drafted Dean. He had a good rookie training camp and was neck and neck for the starting MLB job until the end. Edwards' experience, especially in coverage, ensured him the job and he responded with a great year for us. Dean's foot injury derailed the contingency plan this season, unfortunately.

I still believe that when Dean returns next year, fans will be happy with his tackling and play recognition. He still needs to improve in coverage at the NFL level but he has the tools to get much better there with experience.
