Literally the only person whoever said it about Wentz was Mike Wallace, in response to the all time Spadaro introductory presser question "Did playing with Carson Wentz factor into your decision?"

Wallace then went out and caught no balls for no yards before breaking his leg two games in.

Well there's a name I haven't thought about in forever.  I was excited to get him.  Reasonable contract, had a 1000 yard season just two years prior.  Womp Womp.

I blame that injury on burning our 3rd rounder on Golden Tate <_<

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

There was some Talk last year about it. Not so surprising. I think Andrew Luck might have him beat.

Thankfully BG didn't add to it. I wouldn't be able to stomach that on top of Kelce and Cox.

Aaron Donald retired. Wow

Well Donald is no question a first ballot. I wonder if this affects Kelce at all.

Unexpected.   But, he likely sees that the Rams are cooked at this point.  He's made a boat load of money, and frankly, he's not the player he was.   Best to leave when you can walk away, than be forced to leave when you can't.   Very probable 1st ballot HoF DT.   Great career.  Got a ring.  Cemented himself as the best DT of his generation.  Nothing more to accomplish, really.

Congrats to him on his career.

Not true.   Both Jeffery and Torrey Smith mentioned it when they signed here.

Dang, gonna push Cox's Hall of Fame induction back a year or two.

I’m really not surprised he retired. All the talk last offseason was that he was leaning that way. that said I think they were in better position this year for him to compete for a title than they were last off-season with questions with Stafford and that roster was not great. That’s why I thought last off-season he would retire.

I'm wondering if this is why they did the restructure: It wasn't done so they could mane another move, it was done so they could carry him as a post June 1st retirement?

Pre June 1st: $62,290,000 dead in 2024 for a $37,316,668 loss in cap

or

Post June 1st: $23,763,333 dead for $1,209,999 savings in 2024 and $38,526,667 dead in 2025

What I DON'T understand is why even do it at all.  I don't have the previous cap numbers to compare it to, but if they really did convert 13.79 million.... why not just carry him anyway instead of paying out that 13.79 million of 2024 salary?  My only guess is that there was an option that triggers to guarantee his 2024 salary that was going to trigger?

The Eagles do a very good job scouting pros.  I don't think they are relying on coaches to make decisions on FA.  I don't believe signing Huff had anything to do with Fangio.  I think they liked the player (likely better than any draft options) and new that they needed depth at the position.  They also knew they are likely moving on from either Sweat or Reddick.  While they may have consulted Fangio, he wasn't making that decision.  I am sure Braun wasn't someone that was on Fangio's radar.  He is a player that Howie targeted based on pro-scouts.

I think Devin White may have been vetted by Fangio.  Again, it doesn't look like he's Fangio's guy (i.e. he's never played for or been coached by him) but Fangio may have pushed for him over other possible FAs.

I don't think there's much on the FA market that they should target prior to the draft.  It's also possible they trade Sweat for a player but it's not like they need another starter on defense.  My hope is they hold off until after the draft and then see what they need.

When you have experienced coordinators who know what fits their schemes, you don't go to your scouts and add square pegs to round holes.

I'm pretty sure they sent cut ups to both coordinators before FA started and asked if they saw a good fit. And I'm sure Howie sat down with them and asked what they wanted at each position. Scouts don't tell you what a player is worth to you, they tell you about a player, his strengths and weaknesses, character, IQ, physical attributes, instincts, etc. Then it's up to the FO to determine who is a good fit and what the reservation price (maximum you are willing to pay) should be. If scouts knew who fit what scheme and how to use players, they'd be coaches.

I don't know about that. They were a pretty dangerous team down the stretch, and as long as Stafford is healthy, they've got some talent in Kupp, Nacua, Williams, and Atwell to build around. Defense is gonna be pretty busted with Donald gone though, but as a unit, they were still good enough to keep them in games last year.

Actually yeah Jeffery did say it, then he met him.

Explain why Howie went out and brought in Genard Avery for experienced Defensive Coordinator, Jim Schwarz.

The Eagles HAVE done exactly that, in the past.   The hope is that they have learned the lesson and no longer do that.   But, along those lines, they also traded for Golden Tate, which made no sense in that moment either, other than he played WR and the Eagles desperately needed "WR" help, despite the fact that his game didn't fit the Eagles' actual need.

Something I have said over and over: Sooner or later they break your heart.

That's a discussion I had with my younger brother a few months ago.  He lost both a dog and cat within a year that he'd had for 15+ years.  When I asked him if he will get another pet he replied "Nope.  It's too hard".  I certainly understand where he's coming from; I had to put my Bombay cat down in November after 16 1/2 years.  He was attached to me at the hip, basically.  Losing him was the most intense grief I've experienced since losing my mother in 2010, believe it or not.

After a few conversations with my wife we decided at the end of January to adopt two cats from a local animal rescue.  They're brothers from the same litter, about 7 months old and they're both awesome cats.  Being kittens they eat like horses, but they're great entertainment and both very loving.  I don't think they'll ever truly replace the Bombay I had, though.

I decided to adopt again because I know we provide a good home to animals who need one and, even though I know that same grief will happen again when it's their time, the 15+ years of companionship makes it all worth it, IMO

Exactly my point regarding the bolded.   I don't see Stafford as being able to maintain health.

Aaron Donald was sooo, sooo good. Easily 1st ballot HOF.

Still an all-pro player. Makes the Rams much worse.

Cox did just that for himself....and likely permanently

Yeah that's always dicey but when he is, that's a tough team to beat. Also as an FYI, the bold function doesn't show up well anymore after the board upgrade, so I have been using underlining or selective quoting instead.

Love the hyperbole.  There were no issues with Wentz and the locker room before the knee injury.   Everything, and I mean everything that everyone around the team said was positive.   The knee injury and the subsequent Super Bowl run caused damage to Wentz and his psyche.  And it started a spiral.  But, there were no murmurs of any discontentment until much later.  It wasn't hate at first sight.  It was, personality issues once the adversity started.  Both personal, and team adversity.

lol fields won’t be there but this is too funny not to post

Surprised he didn't just try to go to another team. No doubt he could get another payday and another ring

Getting a pet is inviting a minor tragedy into your life.   Well worth the pain though.
