Said yesterday this has a lot of Ernie sims to it. A young athletic linebacker who was drafted super high so you hope you can get him on track and untap his potential. but like sims, the more and more years past the more he wound up looking like a bust.

with 62m in dead money though...might as well have him play this year right, voiding the last two years would ultimately be cheaper?

Edit: NM...make him a post June 1 cut...

The dead money is sunk no matter what. But if you cut him you don’t have to pay his base salary which will save you in the long term.

Berman doesn't think they will or need to add a WR before the draft. Just his opinion, I disagree. I'm guessing for whatever reason they just weren't interested in anyone. I think that could prove to be a mistake, but I think if they wanted Noah Brown or Cedrick Wilson, they'd be here. They didn't get paid a lot.

Berman thinks they go WR early, perhaps as high as round 2. I think round 3 is better for that sweet spot, but we'll see.

I'm not sure you can get a decent #3 to come here with Smith, Brown and Goedert in place. Especially a one year deal where they want touches for their next deal.

That's a discussion I had with my younger brother a few months ago.  He lost both a dog and cat within a year that he'd had for 15+ years.  When I asked him if he will get another pet he replied "Nope.  It's too hard".  I certainly understand where he's coming from; I had to put my Bombay cat down in November after 16 1/2 years.  He was attached to me at the hip, basically.  Losing him was the most intense grief I've experienced since losing my mother in 2010, believe it or not.

After a few conversations with my wife we decided at the end of January to adopt two cats from a local animal rescue.  They're brothers from the same litter, about 7 months old and they're both awesome cats.  Being kittens they eat like horses, but they're great entertainment and both very loving.  I don't think they'll ever truly replace the Bombay I had, though.

I decided to adopt again because I know we provide a good home to animals who need one and, even though I know that same grief will happen again when it's their time, the 15+ years of companionship makes it all worth it, IMO

Good for you on adopting two. Cats are very social creatures and suffer from separation anxiety. I understand about the grief. The more you love pet the more it hurts when you lose them. I still recall walking home from work after we lost our black lab and the grief washed over me. I bent double; I could hardly breathe. All the same, I haven’t been without at least two pets in over 40 years. You don’t replace one you’ve lost. You take another animal into your life.

Well by that logic, since I never played organized football I’m still a toddler in real life.

It's been explained to you many times and you still aren't getting it. Saying a player is in the same mold ≠ saying the player is as much of a sure thing, will be as good, etc.

It means they have similar skill sets. They're almost identical in size (when CMC was coming out). They can both make people miss. They can both catch the ball well. One had a great OL and a good team. The other not so much. Their running style is similar. They're both smooth with cutting and have good hands.

If developed properly and he takes the next step, as CMC did, they could have similar skills at the NFL level too. That doesn't mean Shipley will be better. That doesn't mean Shipley will ever become what CMC is. That doesn't mean that it will be easy to do.

What it does mean is that if his ceiling is reached, there is a CMC-esque level player there. Again, whether or not he ever gets there remains to be seen.

This has nothing to do with saying he's as good. This has nothing to do with saying he'll go in the first round. This has nothing to do with saying he'll have a better career.

But... they don't have similar skills.

Agreed.  I'd steer clear of Marley and Me, too.

Galaxy Quest would be a winner, IMO, if you want to stick the "Galaxy" title.

We still have Isabel and Kelce, so when it’s their time I’ll keep Galaxy Quest mind. 🙂

Elliott PC is going and the stupid drumming is still playing while he talks.

Aaron Donald had multiple sacks against every NFC team, except for 1:

0 sacks vs Philadelphia, where Jason Kelce started every game of Aaron’s career

I think I want a Jake Elliott jersey

Jake says BG will connect the whole group. Its not just a defensive thing for him.

We saw that when Graham (defense) was the first one to greet Barkley as he stepped out of his car at the Nova Care complex.

What will this team do for leadership when he is gone?

I think you have to hope some of the young linemen are ready to step into leadership roles.  Dickerson and Mailata have the right personality for it.

Reddick gone or Reddick extension up next?

WOW. Stunned by this.

All that posturing from Howie about trading got Sweat to restructure.

This Josh Sweat thing is the weirdest story I've seen in awhile

They only played 5 games against Donald in his 10 years

He took a pay cut.

Gonna be interesting to see how they utilize sweat, Reddick, Huff, Baun, and BG. This SHOULD take edge off the table in the first 64 picks though unless it's BPA by a mile. Takes away the immediate need there

Sweat and Nolan as starters, with Huff/Graham rotating works very, very well.

If we get a 2nd or 3rd for Reddick, it's all systems go.
