  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Re-sign Reddick and let's rock and roll with the NFL's best pass rush.

Have to trade Reddick now, sadly. Love Haasan, but time to cash out.

This Josh Sweat thing is the weirdest story I've seen in awhile

It is. But in the end this makes a heck of a lot more sense than cutting him.

If they couldnt find a trade it definitely made more sense to keep him.

Now, as the new contract is structured- will they be able to trade him later if the opportunity arrises?

Reddick, Huff, BG, Smith and Sweat would be best pass rush in NFL??

He took a pay cut.

A pay cut from what? There was nothing to cut

Extend reddick, use some of the cap space cleared up to bring in Justin Simmons.

LB and CB in draft. We are set on defense.

Don't have to, especially if the market for him sucks. If you can get a high pick for him, that's another story. He has more value to the Eagles this season than anything lower than a high 2nd rounder. This is a SB or bust year and he's on a friendly contract. Worst comes to worst he can play out his final year and then Eagles get a comp pick for him next year if he signs elsewhere.

These are some very quick PCs. Elliott and Hennessy. Neither guy said they were enticed by the opportunity of playing on the same team as Hurts.

CJ up next. After some more drumming.

Can't say I like Tampa even a little bit. They've covered the whole area in cement. For anyone who has read the Travis McGee novels, this is what John D. MacDonald was bemoaning.

I spent 7 years there as a government contractor at SOCOM after I got out of the AF. My sister had asked me what I didn't like about the place and one of the things I said was that it was too flat, that the lack of any sort of hills or mountains made it a little disorienting to me. When she came to visit, we were standing on Bayshore over looking Tampa Bay and my sister point off in to the distance and says, "Hey look, there's a hill!" With great delight I informed her that it was a landfill.

This is not a Super Bowl or bust year. I would expect that next year though.

😆 That passes for landscaping in Tampa.

I would love someone to explain how.

🤷‍♂️

They brought in a double-digit sack guy in Huff, an off-ball LB in Devin White, and a versatile (?) DB in Gardner-Johnson -- who the Eagles defense seemed to miss last season.

I'm hopeful (in defiance of reason) the Eagles will invest some draft capital in the back 7 on defense in this draft.  Hopeful, but somewhat lacking in confidence.

White is a complete flier and terrible against the run regardless. Huff I'm fine with. CJ is a second tier type safety and again not good against the run. If they'd sign Simmons and trade for Foye then we'd be fine there. As is? I think this defense is in a heap of trouble next year, again.

The way the tweet is worded about Sweat makes it sound more like the eagles wanted him to take a pay cut. He didnt want to. Got told he can look for a trade. And despite more money being offered elsewhere, Sweat actually decided he wanted to be here.

for what reason? they play different positions and there is money. Keeping Reddick actually provides more cap space.

see you never know all Howie's tricks no matter that fancy spreadsheets some websites can come up with.

I'm not 100% sure, but look at the "other bonus" column.

Then this defense will be bottom quarter of the league. He needs a new deal if we are serious about contending.

Holy crap

Not shocking. 1st ballot without question.

I don't know about that. They were a pretty dangerous team down the stretch, and as long as Stafford is healthy, they've got some talent in Kupp, Nacua, Williams, and Atwell to build around. Defense is gonna be pretty busted with Donald gone though, but as a unit, they were still good enough to keep them in games last year.

I agree. I think they make some noise this year, Kobie Turner looked damn good for them last year. Of course now they need to see how good he is without one of the GOAT's next to him.
