I actually like it from Minnesota's perspective more. Got a first rounder by essentially giving up a 2nd, 6th and a future second which by draft value chart since it’s a future second has the equivalence to a 3rd rounder.

Didn't we learn from Sonny that 3 2nd round picks should get you the 7th pick in the draft? Terrible deal for the Vikings.

see you never know all Howie's tricks no matter that fancy spreadsheets some websites can come up with.

I’m specifically referring to a "pay cut”. No has worded it as a pay cut. Closest thing was he could have made more getting traded to another team and signing a new deal.

Re-sign Reddick and let's rock and roll with the NFL's best pass rush.

Didn’t look so hot last year. I don’t think the dude from the Jets is going to take it that high

Because honestly, I can't see what more they would have done.  And 0 chance OTC has already applied it

I’m glad Sweat is staying

Don't have to, especially if the market for him sucks. If you can get a high pick for him, that's another story. He has more value to the Eagles this season than anything lower than a high 2nd rounder. This is a SB or bust year and he's on a friendly contract. Worst comes to worst he can play out his final year and then Eagles get a comp pick for him next year if he signs elsewhere.

Exactly, if someone pays a 1 or 2 then yea sure go ahead and pull the trigger otherwise no reason to do it.

for what reason? they play different positions and there is money. Keeping Reddick actually provides more cap space.

Because Reddick wants a new deal and it sure seemed like the Eagles were planning on moving on from one of them instead of working out new contracts with both.

What the hell did they restructure? His base salary was like $1M

Why does this feel like last years Michael Thomas restructure.  We both looked at the before and after and there was virtually no difference.

WOW. Stunned by this.

All that posturing from Howie about trading got Sweat to restructure.

What did Howie say about trading Sweat?

Im kind of indifferent.

Im glad we didnt open up a new hole/need on the roster.

At the same time, his lack of lane discipline was a real liability to the team last year.

He hasnt lost a step or anything. So I hope we get buy in from him to play within the system this year.

I'm not 100% sure, but look at the "other bonus" column.

That’s all the option bonuses and things from prior restructures. Only thing I can think of is he had some 2024 non guaranteed option bonus or something but that just sounds weird

It’s gotta be something too complicated for them to show on their charts so they just go with the most likely scenario to dumb it down for everyone.

Yeah, I was thinking something with the "other" bonus but there was no detail there.  Maybe did something with:

Sweat has a $2 million salary escalator for 2024 based on performance.

Honestly,  nobody on that defense bought in last season.

I'm ok with Sweat but not thrilled, rather keep Reddick

This fits the 500 snaps for Huff. And it may mean they try Baun inside.

If Fangio goes 3-4, Sweat may come in as a situational pass rusher.

Base: Williams - Davis - Carter, Reddick - White - Dean - Baun/Huff

4-2-5:  Reddick - Graham/Williams - Carter - Sweat/Huff, Dean - White

3-3-5:  Graham - Carter - Sweat, Reddick - Dean - Huff

Ojomo rotates in at 3-4 DE, Tuo/Ellis at NT.

A bit crowded, given the salaries.

Hasn't he been overplaying his contract for 2 years now?

I think Reddick still stays on an extension. Also, where would Sweat play in a true 3-4? End?

I do have to say I feel better about having his talent on the roster, rather than having a hole there.

It almost seems as though they gave him less money, but more guaranteed money to protect him some for taking the risk of injury in a contract year without long term stability.

This year, he may come off the bench behind Huff. Be kept fresh, and really eat racking up sacks in a contract year. We might have a very motivated, proven pass rusher here.
