Im kind of indifferent.

Im glad we didnt open up a new hole/need on the roster.

At the same time, his lack of lane discipline was a real liability to the team last year.

He hasnt lost a step or anything. So I hope we get buy in from him to play within the system this year.

The lack of discipline bothered me too, but then again a lot of that happened during the Patricia era, and that was a giant mess. All of our defensive players started playing bad. I think Fangio will clean those issues up & we’ll see Sweat get back on track. Besides, Sweat/Smith/Huff is exciting, presumably Reddick is being traded but that’d be awesome too keeping him

Good for you on adopting two. Cats are very social creatures and suffer from separation anxiety. I understand about the grief. The more you love pet the more it hurts when you lose them. I still recall walking home from work after we lost our black lab and the grief washed over me. I bent double; I could hardly breathe. All the same, I haven’t been without at least two pets in over 40 years. You don’t replace one you’ve lost. You take another animal into your life.

Gardner-Johnson is taking a long time to come to the podium. Doesnt want to face questions about how he handled himself on his way out of here.

I doubt they are announcing the Sweat deal without already having a resolution regarding Reddick.

The "we have to get rid of one or the other!" never made any sense whatsoever. You don't get rid of top quality players just to get rid of them. The logic would be "If we can get a good pick for one of them and replace them with Huff, we are essentially buying a 1st or 2nd round pick." But dumping one of them off for a 3rd or worse never made any sense. These are pro bowl caliber edge rushers. Premium guys at premium positions. And cap-wise there are no long-term reasons to ditch them. It's not like Reddick and Sweat will be under contract through 2026 where their cap number blows up with a bunch of other guys.

Maybe the Eagles leaked stuff to the media to try to play negotiating games with both of them.

I think Reddick still stays on an extension. Also, where would Sweat play in a true 3-4? End?

I think people are getting too hung up on the 3-4 aspect. The way offenses are set up now they're probably going to be running nickle most of the time where they'll go back to having 4 down linemen. When they are in 3-4 he probably plays rush OLB cause no way he can cover anything

I dont see what it changes.

I'd be surprised if they kept Reddick. It would just be surprising if they invested a first round pick last year, signed Huff to the biggest money out of all the EDGE guys, bring in Baun and bring back Graham just to keep both Sweat and Reddick.

That seems like it's just flying by on the seat of your pants vs having an actual plan.

Seems like if just like with Sweat, if the Eagles and Reddick can agree to a mutually beneficial contract, he stays too. If not, and say he's demanding 27m per season with no exceptions, he goes.

Though no team will give him that, so...

Sweat, Huff, Graham- DEs

Reddick, Smith- OLBs

Baun maybe OLB, maybe MLB we dont know yet. Even if Baun is an OLB, Smith and Baun isnt enough to just ship Reddick off. Thats a potential massive downgrade. Reddick is very much needed on this roster. Keeping Sweat didnt change that.

Everything makes so much more sense with the Sweat trade rumors now

That’s all the option bonuses and things from prior restructures. Only thing I can think of is he had some 2024 non guaranteed option bonus or something but that just sounds weird

He had a $14.625mm option bonus for 2024 that wasn't guaranteed. They basically killed that and gave him $10mm guaranteed (likely reduced the option bonus to $8,625,000 which along with the salary of $1,125,000 and $250,000 workout bonus gets you $10,000,000). If I am thinking about this right, his new cap number for 2024 is $1.2mm lower in 2024.

its pretty straight forward except for where the "could just be released" rumors came from.

We are putting the band back together

I thought they said there were offers but he stayed with us? I'd assume Reddick would also be in demand but he wants to be paid.

Hopefully we keep Reddick. Been our best pass rusher by far.. keep him, run it back with what we have. Go sign Simmons, draft a linebacker, CB. Defense will be looking a lot better

Not going to lie the band at the end of last year was kind of like the wedding singer when he went into a depression and yelled at people.

I would think Reddick fits the mold for what they want.

Probably just Eagles pressuring Sweat to agree with the deal they want.

I'm not talking about what gives the team the best roster. Obviously keeping Reddick gives them that. Huff said he signed here to be a starter. Smith needs to play. Reddick isn't going to be happy with not getting a new deal and having people eat into his playing time in a contract year.

Kind of think Reddick is gone. Might not be until closer to or during the draft though. I don’t think the eagles are gonna just trade him for anything. They probably have a price they want and will wait.
