I'm not talking about what gives the team the best roster. Obviously keeping Reddick gives them that. Huff said he signed here to be a starter. Smith needs to play. Reddick isn't going to be happy with not getting a new deal and having people eat into his playing time in a contract year.

I think Reddick will get a new deal here. And he and Huff will start. Sweat got a little less money, but more guaranteed. Hes gonna rotate in off the bench and be fresh and pile up sacks for a new contract elsewhere next year.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

The "we have to get rid of one or the other!" never made any sense whatsoever. You don't get rid of top quality players just to get rid of them. The logic would be "If we can get a good pick for one of them and replace them with Huff, we are essentially buying a 1st or 2nd round pick." But dumping one of them off for a 3rd or worse never made any sense. These are pro bowl caliber edge rushers. Premium guys at premium positions. And cap-wise there are no long-term reasons to ditch them. It's not like Reddick and Sweat will be under contract through 2026 where their cap number blows up with a bunch of other guys.

Cutting/giving away Reddick is dumb, but if we can get a 2nd for him we should do it without hesitation. A 3rd/5th (2nd round value) is also good for a player with one year left.

Gardner-Johnson will wear #8. "Coming out with the Mamba" "Mamba mentality. Im here to win."

Eh, there could be worse. Works better on a DB than any other defensive player.

Aaron Donald prevented Fletcher Cox from getting a bunch of worthy accolades like All Pros all those years that would surely put Cox in the HOF. Now retiring the same offseason as Cox to essentially kill Cox’s chances of being a first ballot. Aaron Donald continues to terrorize Fletcher Cox

11 out of 20 Howies.

Seems like if just like with Sweat, if the Eagles and Reddick can agree to a mutually beneficial contract, he stays too. If not, and say he's demanding 27m per season with no exceptions, he goes.

Though no team will give him that, so...

So the team was annoyed because he freelanced, so they bring him back. Then we sign a LB and S who also freelance too. Great idea!!

Other day Geoff said he thinks Howie still has a big swing on the way, wonder what that could be?

Also if Sweat gives Eagles some 2024 cap relief now, maybe do we get a Devonta deal?

Eagles decide to go OL in 1st round and you have to choose one of the following who do you pick

Graham Barton
Cooper Beebe
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Chritain Haynes
Tyler Guyton
Christian Haynes
Jordan Morgan
Zach Frazier

My choice isn't there.  But of your list, I'm putting JPJ at RG.

We still have Isabel and Kelce, so when it’s their time I’ll keep Galaxy Quest mind. 🙂

If you've never seen it, I give it a high recommendation for just some fun on any evening.  (Helps to be familiar with the original Star Trek to get the references.)

That’s like 7 guards and Guyton… I guess Johnson as you are getting a guy in the Dickerson mold, which has worked out.

That graphic doesn't count his cap circumventing payments made to his TB12 organization.

They only played 5 games against Donald in his 10 years

Correct.  And he was basically a non-factor in each and every one of the 5.

Because honestly, I can't see what more they would have done.  And 0 chance OTC has already applied it

Ugh... that dead cap number for next year is gross.

I do have to say I feel better about having his talent on the roster, rather than having a hole there.

It almost seems as though they gave him less money, but more guaranteed money to protect him some for taking the risk of injury in a contract year without long term stability.

This year, he may come off the bench behind Huff. Be kept fresh, and really eat racking up sacks in a contract year. We might have a very motivated, proven pass rusher here.

He and Reddick played way too much last season.  Hope he bounces back.  Hope everyone bounces back.

Berman said today he thinks a splash trade at CB is something that would not surprise him.

I think the obvious names are Lattimore, Sneed, and Horn.

Eagles won’t take a guy in 1st rd to be the long term starter at RG. If they go OL in 1st rd, that rookie would only be at RG for next 2 seasons max when Lane likely calls it.

I do think 2nd rd is dark horse pick for our future RG however

16 seasons for Cousins already? OMG...you mean I have to count on another 8 yrs for Dak?...say it isn't so. Something I fear will happen is that Dak, by some miracle will end up moving on like Stafford did, and by some other huge miracle will win a SB finally...not likely, but sounds about right for Cowboy fans.

200w.gif

Like all but 2 or 3 guys the Eagles met with so far have been OL. They're clearly interested. I think they go OL early. Either a round 1 OT or 2nd or 3rd round OG. Brandon Coleman and Christian Mahogany are two guys they met with who would make sense.
