Losing a top 100 pick stings, but it’s not that bad of a trade. Just like others have said, he’s cost controlled for two years, and saves us as much as $8-$10M in cap space over that span rather than signing one in FA.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Oh, and we’re keeping Sweat? A lot of crap happened while I stepped away.

Kenny Pickett runs. Running QB's are best. Good move.

Just getting that out of the way.

Meh, too early to judge.

Howie is killing it so far this offseason. Still got plenty of money and ammo left to boot. This team is gonna be fun, young and fast. And hopefully hungry again. Last year's team got old, boring and just lacked energy and that it factor....literally crashed. Got some new blood and a lot of swag back in the building. Was worried in how the season ended last year, that it would fester in to the offseason and next year as well. Feel way better where we are now. There's a method to Howie's madness. Excited to see what he does next. Still can add in 2nd wave of free agency and trades. And restructure 2 or 3 contracts if need be for more cap room. Plenty of draft picks as well. Overall, like the new energy that's coming in. Still more work to do. Nice to have a GM that keeps going for it. Can't sit on your hands.

I honestly don't believe that. And I like McKee.

Pickett is the number 2 but I do think McKee will get plenty of opportunities to play in the pre-season.

Let them split #2 reps until 1 clearly has established himself as #2.

McKee looked better against 3rd stringers in preseason than a starting QB did during the season against a division with some great defenses? Wild

Looked better playing eith bums than Pickett looked like playing with good WRs.

I actually kind of like it.   It costs essentially nothing.   And its a cheap backup QB.  And, he's got to win the #2 job against McKee.  I'm all for the competition.  And if he loses it, and he refuses to be the #3 QB... then you cut him and have lost virtually nothing.    Low risk, high reward move.

You lose the equivalent of a 4th round pick and you pay his entire salary to cut him.

You should stay off more.

Well he does have experience in Moore's offense.

Agreed. If McKee can't beat out Pickett for QB2, then he can't be our backup anyway.

Watch us flip Pickett next off-season too.

I don't think he will have the opportunity to win the job.  Pickett makes too much money.  Just like last year with Mariota even though he was clearly better.

Pretty sure there’s enough data to say that none will ever be a franchise QB. Some are already out of the league. Howell might have the best shot if Kenny still sucks without Canada.

This made me lol don't know why.

Bring him home, Howie.

We should bring back Dillard on a vet minimum.

I'd say something here that's obvious but we all know you'll run and cry to the mods.

I don't think you will

We 'used' the equivalent of a 4th round pick.  That's the same price Howie has thrown away on guys like Kevin Byard, Golden Tate and Genard Avery.   This is a much more valuable lottery ticket.   Low risk, high reward.

Pickett is 3.8M this year and 4.5M next against the cap. 50-75% cheaper than most backup QBs. Just like the White signing were not married to either. The only thing I don’t like is giving up our 3rd (or moving back the equivalent of 4th rd value)

Good option.
