Hey, we all loved Simmons, right? Medically cleared....I am hurt and I'm not playing while I sulk. I guess at least it wasn't Wilson.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Correct.

I believe he will be better here than he was in Pittsburgh.

And we don't need him to be our franchise QB. Just a capable backup. I think he will be that.

Wrong

I hate this.

Feels like they will replenish that 3rd with a Reddick trade though.

I'd kick the tires, but have to check out the knee he blow out in 2021, if he's close to 100%, he could be an affordable options at WR3.

He is not what he once was but he was turning the corner late last year...I hope he makes a monster come back. I get why they released him, just too much money tied up in him. He was really good early in his career, definitely had that toe drag swag going since coming into the league...he is an older body (28) at a younger mans position though. Elite receivers drop off around age 30-31...Gallup was good but never elite. Another Jerry overpay after the initial contract.

FWIW, have a friend who is a big Steeler fan and he did not like Pickett at all.

You know Bacarty?

Smart seeing how Stafford likely misses a couple games.

Thought they might bring back Wentz.

You've been sitting on that one for a while, eh?

Yes.

Must have talked to Alshon and they decided against a second stint

Want to see what Garoppolo gut, I was interested in him as a backup.

Maybe I’m just being overly pessimistic but that is a major projection. That’s the thing people talk themselves into that never happens. That’s less likely than "trade for a rental who will then net you a comp pick”.

Yes... it is a projection based on a long list of 'ifs'...  as in, that's the high side upside potential.   It's a long shot.

Odd. Did he have a say in who he was traded to? He won't get a chance to start here

Yeah for as confusing as this move is for us, it makes even less sense for Pickett. His chances of beating out Wilson there were much higher than they'll be for beating out Hurts here.

Why would you want that?  That would render this trade completely useless, meaning all we did is give up draft capital to have Tiny Hands prove that he's total crap.

Why would I want that? Because Pickett is god awful and I would want the better QB (McKee) to be the #2 in case we need the backup to play.

Don't know about that lol

Sure.  And no one is sure that the draft pick they take is actually going to be a player worth anything either.

Can someone explain why people are so upset at this move? We literally moved back 22 spots and gave up two 7th round picks. Pickett is still on his rookie deal and is going to cost way less than the normal backup QB. Hell, look what we’ve paid Chase Daniels and Mariota in the past. Pickett is decent, not bad at all for a backup. And id like to see what he does in this offense compared to that crap in Pittsburgh before we all jump off a cliff😂

I guess I've warmed up a bit in the Pickett trade after the initial annoyance. Saves a solid chunk of money on back up QB if they don't think McKee is ready. They've won 9 and 10 games per year with him starting with worse overall supporting offensive cast. I'm not banking on "upside" of a first round pick but if I view it as a backup only I guess it could be worse.

Plus it annoys RTK which is a bonus

There was some Talk last year about it. Not so surprising. I think Andrew Luck might have him beat.

Andrew Luck did exactly what his dad, Oliver did.   No surprise at all for me.

To be fair, we do have a bit of history with getting good compensation for showcasing our backup QBs. AJ Feeley, Kevin Kolb, Sam Bradford, Carson Wentz.

That being said, I don't expect that to be the case with Pickett for multiple reasons.

Feeley, sure. The others were brought in to be starters then moved out when they didn't have a future with the team. That's a little bit different than bringing in a guy as a reclamation project to flip for better assets than used to acquire him.

That's the only way this makes sense. They have to think McKee is a lost cause.

Wow.   He deserves a refund for the bad results on that performance-enhancing drug.
