Smart move by Howie to trade away that 3 before the league takes it from us for tampering.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

To be fair, we do have a bit of history with getting good compensation for showcasing our backup QBs. AJ Feeley, Kevin Kolb, Sam Bradford, Carson Wentz.

That being said, I don't expect that to be the case with Pickett for multiple reasons.

And even more with no compensation lol

What high end backup? Minshew has a starting job! That shows you how fast the QB group thins out.

I doubt Pickett is worse than Mariota, at least he has more upside.

He is worse than Mariota but they are both pretty bad.  Honestly I wanted to go with McKee as the backup QB but if they felt the need to bring someone else in then they could have gone with Tannehill, Wentz, Dobbs and even Jimmy G would probably be a better option than Pickett.  I don't think Pickett offers any upside, he is really brutally bad.

Feeley, sure. The others were brought in to be starters then moved out when they didn't have a future with the team. That's a little bit different than bringing in a guy as a reclamation project.

Not sure that Kolb was brought in to be a starter by default. He was brought in to compete and McNabb ended up getting hurt enough to give Kolb some time to flash, and then McNabb eventually sucked enough for Kolb to take over in year 3 (even though he sucked worse.) Thankfully Vick bailed them out of that decision. Similar path with Hurts too I'd say. You're right that Bradford was the de facto starter from the moment he was brought here though. I probably should've excluded him from the list.

Yeah for as confusing as this move is for us, it makes even less sense for Pickett. His chances of beating out Wilson there were much higher than they'll be for beating out Hurts here.

People do weird things out of spite.

Sorry Roger, too late, already spent it, no take-backsies!

Not freaking out about a backup QB. Quite frankly if it keeps us from spending 5mil on one then the savings is worth it

It’s not even that weird.  Maybe he realizes his chances of being a regular starter in the league are slim but collecting paychecks to be the back up on the team you grew up rooting for is a pretty cool gig.

They gave up a 4th round pick equivalent.  Same price they spent to add Matt Barkley.  🤷‍♂️

Nothing get this place chirping more than the annual back up qb situations 🤣🤣

And use that on Reddick's extension. Done deal

Is that an old tweet and I just missed it?

Straight outta

Nothing like having a diva backup QB.  Can't have McKee win the #2 spot or Two Gloves might throw a hissy fit.

Big Russ febreezed that Pickett locker

Her sources were Sirianni and Howie.

So, the Steelers who had the inside track on a great QB because of where he went to college, traded him for peanuts because he didn't want to be a backup in Pittsburgh, to be a backup in Philadelphia.

Is that right?

It's fake

Ah. Makes more sense 🤣

Missed this one. Why are DBs always so weird?

I hate this.

Feels like they will replenish that 3rd with a Reddick trade though.

Oh god, I was thinking it was a swap of 5th round picks.  We gave up our 3rd for him?  I was giving my cousin who is a Seahawks fan crap for their trade for Sam Howell but this is even worse.

The truth is, 23 is being held for Rashaad Penny's triumphant return.

A lot of people hold onto their draft priors.
