  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

McKee?  He looked good in some 3rd string preseason action. Good developmental piece but none of us can say right now if he's ready the  be a backup or not. Clearly the FO doesn't think he is.

How could they watch pickett and think he is a competent qb?

besides if hurts goes down we are toast anyway so dont waste valuable resources

People got way over their skis with McKee.

If hurts is out we are likely crippled anyway

so let the kid play. Only way he could develop

$72,000 less for a guy who has never thrown a pass in an NFL game. That’s what you want for a backup?

How frugal of you!

Only if you drop mckee. Now you pay both when you didnt need to

Nah.

Reuben Frank on their emergency Pickett pod made a weird comment. Zangaro was listing all the Eagles moves the last two weeks and when he mentioned two retirements he cut in with "so far”. I have no idea if he was just being a smart ass or if he heard something but just a weird interruption. Looking at the roster, there isn’t another clear guy who would retire.

This is equally funny

You need 3 QBs.

Let me be clear that I do not think Pickett is good and have very low expectations of him. However I thought this is a fun thought exercise: how many back up QBs out there would you say are better than Pickett right now?

Bc you had a backup qb already for even less

That had never played in an NFL game. Now we have a guy with actual starts under his belt placed in an actual NFL offense with playmakers instead of the crap Pittsburgh was running last year. Everyone is so focused on the 3rd rounder we gave up which was the 98th pick. We got a 4th rounder back that’s pick 120. So basically we gave up a couple spots and gave two 7th rounders. Who cares? That’s cheap enough, why make a big deal of this. It basically didn’t cost anything and brings in a guy to compete

Too early to say. I honestly don’t think Pickett has been placed in a competent enough offense to evaluate how good he actually is.

Mac Jones, Justin Fields, Sam Howell, Tyrod Taylor, Jacoby Brissett, Joe Flacco, Jameis Winston, Jimmy Garappolo, Gardner Minshew (if he counts), Carson Wentz, Andy Dalton, Taylor Heineke, Mason Rudolph, Ryan Tannehill (maybe).

I’m sure I’m missing some

One thing that's underrated is the value of 3 or 4 QBs in TC who can actually throw - we've seen some terrible QBs.

If you're trying to evaluate your WRs and TEs, and see who should get the last roster spots and PS slots, it helps that your 2nd and 3rd QB are legitimate, so you can see if they can catch and create YAC - hard to do that when your backups can't hit the side of a barn.

I'm sure there is nothing more frustrating to the rest of the team in practice and exhibition games to have a really bad 3rd and 4th string QB out there.

It's not about winning meaningless games, it's about running the playbook the way plays are supposed to go, so backups get useful reps.

Mac Jones? After his collapse in NE?

Fields? I mean unless you plan to RPO all game.

Howell? Brisset? Flacco?

Maybe Winston, Garappolo, Taylor. Not sure about Brissett. These guys are backups for a reason. Most have failed worse than Pickett the last few years.

You have some real washed up QBs on that list like Dalton, Heineke, Tannehlll, maybe five years ago . . .

Pickett hasn't thrown many TDs, but hasn't thrown many Ints either - do you want your backup to win games or not lose games?

This is a huge reach. Some of these names are laughable. Let’s give Pickett a chance in this offense before completely writing him off

Browning in Cinci is supposed to be solid I think, he's another one I might put on there.

He means the draft capital, obviously.

my opinion
No, maybe, yes, no, no, yes, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, and no.

I like the trade. I think he is a decent backup for super cheap. He is young. If he starts at any point and does well then we can get value back. It’s not like he is was 6 year starter or zach wilson. 2 years, in an awful offense with an awful OC.

Remember when no one, and I mean no one, liked the Hurts pick? I dont mean just didnt like it. People were livid.

Im not sure we are the best QB scouts in here.

Lets give Picket a shot with a good OC, excellent OL, and incredible skill position players.

Guy has better arm talent than Hurts. Sneaky athletic. Theres big time upside here. We may have our QB of the future for the cost of a 4th round pick.

Couldn’t agree more. Well said.

Mac Jones with his collapse still has better stats across the board. If Pickett gets the benefit of a doubt of being in a bad offense, why not Jones?

Eagles preferred Flacco over Pickett. So would I for one year. Same with every other guy you called washed. The question was "right now”.

Heineke is 31. That’s not old or washed at all for a QB.

Howell, yes absolutely. He was even traded for more than Pickett.

Fields stinks but he’s likely to do better in one game than Pickett by just being mobile.

Sam Howell. There are probably others but he's the first to come to mind given a similar trade made for him.

Agreed. I liked the move, very cost effective considering how much we value the QB position and we aren’t tying up cap space with guys like Mariota. Rather go this route instead, especially considering we barely gave up anything

So happy to no longer have to play Tyron Smith. He's still an awesome player.

They're a year away from Zack Martin leaving too!
