Decent money

Seattle making some good moves. A shame they don't have a QB

I've been cooking another video up in the lab.  Is it going to ruffle some feathers? Maybe, but you can't piss into the wind here without ruffling some feathers with this flock.

White, Burks, and Baun:

I feel like Burks wasn’t that bad in the time I saw him play. Not saying he’s a starter or big pick up, but I like the player

I remember him being terrible in GB. SF must not have been impressed either since they don’t trust him to be Greenlaw’s short term replacement.

This is all I could find on Oren Burks

It’s "up to” 2.5M so it’s probably a league minimum deal. Plenty fine for a good special teamer (if he is one).

I feel like I remember him making plays against us this past season…I’ll have to go back and look because from what I’m seeing on Twitter is he isn’t good so maybe I’m remembering things wrong

The Steelers really love quarterbacks that can’t play. Wow.

That is a WAY better deal than the Eagles did for Pickett. C'mon Howie... wtf. The Eagles gave up the equivalent of a 2024 4th to move down. The Steelers gave up max of a 2025 4th for a better QB.

Eagles paid more for Pickett

Wow. Fields for a 6th that could become a 4th based on playing time.

Yeah. I would much rather have done that deal for Fields. Unless Fields made clear he wouldn’t come here, I am speechless.

lol finally delusional Bears fans can chill on the whole "we aren’t taking Caleb” takes

I think the second year of cost control matters when talking about the compensation. I doubt Fields would have interest in being here beyond 2024.

Fields has a 3.2 million cap number for the Steelers this year as opposed to just under 2 million for Pickett.  Thought Pickett was 985k, but apparently he has an almost 1 million roster bonus.

1.2 million of cap doesn’t justify this.

A big point to notice is "based on playing time” it becomes a 4. Very likely that isn’t in a trade to Philly because playing time wouldn’t be realistic. They probably straight up asked for something close to maximum steeler trade value

Fields would be be a better option

Fk hurts feelings or whatever ESP  was saying.

Much of your analysis sounds ok.

However,  VanSumeren had only 1 game as a starter, it was during the "collapse" and it was the only WIN the Eagles had during the "collapse".

So,  he's physically great,  and, "Coach Him Up".

Those other players,  despite being more experiened,  did not do as well as the UDFA rookie who was, and is,  in the process of learning ILB.

So,  I'm penciling in Dean with the green dot,  VanSumeren - in pencil - at the other starting spot,  getting him lots and lots of reps in the preseason to get him up to speed as quickly as possible,   and confident that Devon White can step in if VanSumeren falters.

Sometimes there are just ideas that are too impossible for some people to understand.   If you can get above average production from a cost controlled position for years,  low money cost,  didn't have to use a draft pick,  that's really really great.  You want that.   But,  Eagles fans seem to prefer famous players who the TV talks about,  and Eagles fans are the biggest whiners in the NFL,  so bad that multiple Eagles players feel the need to point that fact out.   Howie needs to race to fill the roster with players, immediately,  before Eagles fans would scream and cry.   "These players are like a lump of coal on Christmas, why didn't Santa do a better job of getting me what I wanted."  And there was a discussion here this week about Christmas, Santa and Coal in reference to free agency.  I'm not making that up.

VanSumeren played 36 snaps in that "start." He played a total of 50 snaps on the season. You have to admit that's too small a sample to really compare to the regular starters regarding PFF grades. 50 snaps isn't even one complete game in the NFL.

My take from his PFF grade" is that he was solid. The snaps he had in his start were against a bad offense with a backup QB and that was pretty much his first game film opponents can study.

I'm glad he was solid, but at this point he's a project and not someone you pencil in as a starter.

I hear you, but while I think Fields is terrible, I still think he’s a lot better than Pickett. Obviously the Eagles, and the league, disagree based on the trade comp.
