Well, Johnson did lead a Florida offense that scored 40 points per game. Maybe the league really is putting all of this on Nick?

That'd be par for the course honestly. Coaches or players go elsewhere and excel?! Never...

Then again college playcalling/scheme doesn't really translate to the NFL well.

Ok I love the Barkley deal

I've said all season the offensive woes were more Sirianni than Johnson, it's his offense, his operation. Which would make it pretty hilarious if their solution is instead of firing the head coach who is most responsible for the issues, to take more power away from him and giving it to coordinators.

That's a good piece of art describing the Eagles "half an offense".

It seems like what happened,  in part,  was that someone said "just do it like last year".

And someone else interpreted that to mean "only do those things that the Eagles did last year"

"Well, last year we had Zach Pascal to do some stuff, blocking, possession receiver,  what do they want us to do about that?"

"Well,  there are these other guys,  new guys,  but they weren't here last year, and a couple of guys were here but didn't play.  If we're supposed to do it like last year, I guess we just have the guys who were here last year do even more,  and have the guys who didn't play last year do absolutely nothing.  So,  that means more snaps and targets for Brown and Smith and Goedert,  and ignore everyone else, I guess. There are other players who on paper should be better than Quez,  but they weren't here last year, so they must not want us to use them, because do it like last year doesn't apply to them."

I think Sirianni sometimes says things to lay down cover for his players.

This one is already confirmed. That's the play AJ said he Hurts improvised on and that Nick said that to cover for them.

I'm beginning to think that it does not matter whether they fire Sirianni or not. If they do fire him, then they will just pick Sirianni 2.0 to replace him. The only way to get an experienced, star HC here if for Lurie and Howie to abandon the idea that they know more about football than do real NFL'ers. That, my friends, is not going to happen.

I forgot about Aaron Glenn. I think he's going to be a fantastic head coach. If Sirianni is in fact gone today I wonder what kind of coach the Eagles would want next? An experienced coach or an up and comer like Glenn. Glenn has been shining for a few years now and might not be the instant coaching star that DeMeco is but I think he has all the tools to be a good one.

The Titans bringing him in also gives me a little more hope that the interest in BJ is more than Rooney Rule compliance.

Good luck Brian!!!!!

So basically, ESP wants the entire secondary back

Not buying it at all

You could probably get Kenneth Murray for $4M.  He'd be a Kyzir White sort of signing.

I think to truly fix the LB you've gotta draft a guy; and I mean before pick 100.  Not a Davion Taylor project, either.  A plug-and-play LB

We desperately need an Edgerrin Cooper or Jeremiah Trotter Jr. type of prospect in the 2nd round to fortify the LB position for the next several years.

And for all you conspiracy theorists that accused Goedert at yelling at Hurts on the sidelines - by his own words he was animated at himself after he botched a play.  He said that he and Hurts have never had a single argument or fight ever.  Case closed.

That was nice of Hurts to completely ignore him instead of reassuring him.  Good leader.

Byard and Maddox must go for the cap savings.  Bradberry also must go but we're stuck with him for one more year because of the contract Howie gave him.  So he should be demoted and let Ringo start opposite Slay.

He's playing contrarian like he does with everything. He's been hardcore on the "Eagles shouldn't make any changes to the offense, it's fine" shtick ever since people got critical of the offense. It's shtick, it's what he's always done. He'll take the opposite stance from the popular stance on every issue. It gets him the attention he craves.

Did Jobe play thst terribly on the outside? Know he got beat deep on one play then didn't see him again

Hope it's true and we can cash in on the dream of comp picks when he gets hired.  That said, I would not be surprised one bit if he has success elsewhere and his offense looks way better once he's out from under Sirianni's system.

But but but, he made the playoffs three straight years.

Yup,   firing the head coach when he takes you to the playoffs three straight years is terrible.

Doesn't matter if he sucks or not.

Which is obviously not true...

The trouble might be that he tried to run a college style offense in the NFL, and he didn't adapt enough to NFL defenses.  NFL defenses did adapt to the offense though.

Slay should come back. He was not bad this year. Overpaid? Sure. But he's still a starting CB. LB/S are bigger issues than CB1/2.

It was corrected earlier. Thanks for your input

Utah fans think he sucked so I'm not sure I'm on board with that. Yeah, he was a kid in his mid 20s but still. Let him go some other place and do well as long as he is gone and the Eagles get a pick.

What's nice is there are real options at LB in free agency to consider, even before we think about guys getting cut for salary cap purposes:

Devin White -- young, impact player who probably will cost ~$15mm per year. Probably too rich for our blood, and he's more of a liability against the run than we might want. I wouldn't pay up for him -- living off his name and draft status it seems.

Patrick Queen -- I guess the real question here is how much does he benefit from playing next to Roquan Smith? But truthfully, if we are going to finally spend at LB, this is where I put my money. Probably costs the same as White, and I'd much rather have Queen.

Bobby Wagner -- maybe with Pete gone, Bobby is ready to leave Seattle for the 2nd time. No idea if he'd be cheap on a 1 year deal given his age, but he can still play. He signed a 1 year, $5.5mm deal with the Seahawks this year. I'd give him that contract in a heartbeat. Guessing he will look for more like $8mm, and probably still worth it on a 1 year deal.

Jordan Hicks -- little older, but can still play. A 2 year, ~$10mm deal could get it done.

Lavonte David -- another older guy that's a candidate for a 1 year deal

Willie Gay -- played well for KC after stepping in due to injury. Young and likely not that expensive. Could be more like a 3 year, $12mm deal.

You should be able to add a couple guys at reasonable cost, keep Dean to compete, and throw Leonard, Cunningham and Morrow in the trash.

David will reup in Tampa , he is still playing at a high level , even more so with Britt playing more snaps than White now

white is done in Tampa , good in coverage and pressuring the QB , can be liability against the run at times , some team will give him 18 per year or more

This team is so predictable. We'll find out Sirianni isn't getting fired between 4 and 5 today.

I see Travis Fulgham is trending because he recently signed with the BC Lions. How in the world did he have that stretch of games. He was a man among boys against the Steelers. He wasn't just putting up yards, he was a straight up bully.

Thought Jobe was serviceable in his time starting.  Was surprised he didn't get more snaps later in the season.

It's a freaking joke to keep him. Everyone nationally with the exception of Jeffery and Howie are like that guy sucks or that guy brings nothing. To bring him back shows what a total clown we have as an owner obsessed with power.
