Agreeing to terms and putting ink on the contract are different.

He isn't listed on the team website roster.

I don't believe the contract has been signed.

And a RB.  Return of Boston Scott?  Mattison seems washed.  Edwards-Helaire has been a huge disappointment.   Dobbins is a walking injury.  Akers tore his ACL in November so the risk is he won’t be ready this year.  D’Onta Foreman.  He’s played for everyone but kind of mediocre.  Zeke (hate the idea) does have experience with Moore but seems on the downhill.  All the rest are pretty old for RBs.

Could see a WR. Although they might wait for the draft.

D'onta Foreman is a good rotational back, would be a nice signing. Better than Scott and gainwell

It seems the Eagles have a lot of contracts that peak in 2026. Obviously two years away so expect a lot of restructures/extensions by then to flatten it out.

Fangio's defense is tough on the front five - DE, DT, DT and two ILBs and easier on the back six. It's not accurate, I don't believe, to say he doesn't blitz. He's more along the lines of Jim Johnson, who played soft until you got close and then blitzed. JJ was associated with the blitz and he had some very creative ones but he didn't blitz nearly as much as his reputation would have you believe.

We discussed this some years ago but part of it is in the definition of the term. Some people refer to a blitz as simply sending more than 4 rushers after the QB, but JJ's fire zones meant he could overload the weak side, and still get pressure with only 4 rushers. The latter is technically a blitz, even though it doesn't meet the colloquial definition of 5 or more rushers.

If we include those as blitzes, then I'd imagine JJ would've been in the top 10 almost every year in terms of blitz percentage. Conversely, Fangio is usually in the bottom 10.

I'm starting to think Howie made a bet with Lurie on how many former first round picks they could get.

O/(U) was probably 4.5.

One more to go.

Isaiah Wynn was right there too

I'd say he tried to be strategic with it.   But, there's also the classic clip of him on the sidelines saying (paraphrase), "If you're gonna blitz our QB, we're going to blitz your QB."   And I think that's one of the lasting memories of JJ.   He was never married to a single game plan and was willing to adapt to in-game situations.  And, one of the things that we as fans enjoy is that when our QB is under fire from the blitz, we want to see the opposition having to deal with the same thing.  Sitting back in a soft zone and letting the opposing QB pick the defense apart, while your own QB is constantly under duress is very frustrating to watch as a fan.   JJ was willing to dictate to the offense rather than letting them dictate to him what was going to happen.  He also had wrinkles that he'd unleash at times.  I recall the game against Brady during their undefeated season.  He unleashed Chris Gocong that game, and I have to say that that game might have been his best as an Eagle.   And while the team lost that game, the prevailing thought heading into the game was that they were going to be destroyed.  They lost by a FG, with AJ Feeley starting the game... and they might have found a way to win if Feeley hadn't turned the ball over 3 times!  The Eagles made Brady very uncomfortable, and Spagnuolo basically used that blueprint against Brady in the Super Bowl... but with much better talent on the defensive side and they pulled off the upset.

Kind of an exaggeration or reach from this guy.  I don't know why it would be such a big deal to hear Foles name called during that play by play.

It's probably some kind of audio issue.

Huh? What kind of audio issue would cause them to edit out only the name "Foles" while still preserving the word "touchdown" at the end?

It's not a big deal to hear his name, but that then begs the question for why they had to edit it out to begin with.

I could be good with either one.   CB in the first round has happened in the past with the Eagles.... Granted, the last time was 2002.  But, LB... we have to go back to 1979.

That wouldn't hold any appeal for me.  When I went to The Linc in 2012 to watch the Eagles play Dallas I bought seats in the 4th row, about the 10-yard line.  They were too low.  Had a hard time seeing the play anywhere near the Eagles sideline because the players blocked out the view.

Sitting about 10-12 rows up would have been perfect -- something that's hard to know until you're there in person.

Which is why LBs have to cover, I think like JJ, he wants to disguise his blitzes and coverage, make the QB hesitate for a second or two, then get pressure in his face.

So 3 down lineman, and one LB rushing, but it could be either OLB or an ILB hitting the "A" gaps. Confuse both the QB and the lineman calling out blocking assignments.

Move guys around pre-snap, OLB can line up off the LOS, stand up at the LOS, or put his hand on the ground, multiple looks with the same personnel.

I want to see how he’s going to handle the edge rushers.  It’s an unasked question and perhaps the most important question for the defense.

I will grant that even a typical 4-3 has some edge asymmetry, but the Fangio defenses really have two different positions there.  With Gannon/Desai, Reddick and Sweat had very, very different roles and techniques.

BG and Barnett were the Sweat depth.  Nolan Smith and some other 3-4 OLB types whose names escape me have backed up Reddick.

It sort of feels like a logjam and some inefficiently allocated resources behind Reddick with both Huff and Nolan Smith….unless there are some different plans for how they are going to use these guys.

Interestingly Huff is listed as a DE, like Sweat and Graham.

So for now OLB is Reddick and Smith.

Baun's position I think remains in question.
