Saints have been sniffing around edges for a while. Probably takes them out of the Reddick running.

  • For those that know me here I wanted to pass on the good news. I will be retiring from fulltime work in October of this year. Looking forward to not working 10 hour days anymore.

Thats a dumb rule, all it means is Michael Irvin is disqualified from having his number retired when the Emmitt Smith’s and the Troy Aikman’s are up in the rafters

The thing is, Drew Pearson was the OG 88 and started their "88 club" so it's not an Irvin thing. The Cowboys also don't retire any numbers, even if they don't hand out certain ones.

Why would anyone care if Foles name is mentioned during that TD call?

Makes no sense why his name would be edited out on purpose.

You believe what you want but it seems ridiculous to me.

But why?

Maybe more truth to the Texans leak that I thought

Saints cap is in shambles so might as well waste even more money

Saints were never trading for Reddick, and Young is meh, so this is a double-win.

Before Chase Young was traded, he was a player I had my eyes on as someone Eagles should sign this offseason. Glad i was wrong!

The new number font is stupid. Should have kept the old font.

I don't dislike them.

Too generic and boring. The current ones look better imo. Those leaks look like they just copied the old Seahawks jerseys

Wonder if there's any truth to the reports that he's lazy. Didn't seem like anyone was jumping to get him.

I thought Texans had a sweet uniform & the all red was a killer look, don’t understand why they wanted to change it.

If it ain’t broke…

If it ain't broke....that's where Nike does their best work, and by best I mean worst.

Which non first round WR's do you guys like?  Big fan of McMillan

Same. He's better than Polk who gets a ton of love.

Also Burton. Might be the best non-1st rounder.

Rice...

But that’s my point, Irvin didn’t have a choice because of Pearson. Jerry just said "you’re 88 and we’ll be giving out your number the moment you retire regardless of career trajectory”

Like how this one turned out

Maybe but that makes Fred Johnson irrelevant who I think they like enough since they gave him a 2 year extension. Ever since Dillard it seems like they prefer backups on specific sides. I realize part of that was Dillard being terrible when asked to switch sides, but it feels like Eagles also changed their philosophy a little bit.

Ah good point forgot Fred exists. Maybe I was undervaluing him

Because teams like the Eagles have 9 numbers retired and another 3 haven't been handed out since they were last worn. You can probably add 62 and 91 to the list, followed by 55 next year. When you only have 99 numbers and 15 of them are off limits, what else can they do? What happens when Jake Elliott retires and Lane Johnson retire? It's a silly practice that isn't practical when you have limitations.

It's brought up every few months on here but retiring numbers is dumb. Create a ring of honor and only retire numbers in extreme cases. Create a special patch or decal for a number that's being honored during a certain season.

-Death of a player like Jerome Brown.

-HOF player who was drafted by and played entire career as an Eagle.

Eventually something has to give because soon enough they are going to have 1/5 of the numbers not even available.

I think teams should do what CFB and soccer does, where a number holds significance for the player wearing it. The number almost becomes part of the mythology of the team, and players want to earn the right to wear that number and add to its legacy.

Like, you EARN the right to wear 92 by being the Eagles best pass rusher precisely because it was worn by Reggie White or 99 because you’re the best DT and that’s what Jerome wore.

It’s not just handed out to whoever wants it, but if you’re Fletcher Cox and develop into the team’s top DT, you get the honor of carrying on that legacy.

The red numbers were the best thing about their uniform.

Could be for a variety of reasons, doesn't have to be because of hurt feelings or anything like that. Could just be for brevity or to not take attention away from the titular subject matter, but I promise you it wasn't random coincidence or an audio editing error. The time spent in post on stuff like this is mind-numbing, this decision was intentional, it just might not be due to "pettiness" like the headlines are implying.
