Ok I love the Barkley deal

We need a DL Stout to teach Smith. Tools are there.

Perhaps, but he also struggled down the stretch with only 2.5 sacks over the last 6 games. Also, will he be a 15 sack guy at 31 and 32? I'm just playing like devil's advocate here and trying to get inside of their thinking. As I said above, I think they simply chose Huff who is three and a half years younger than him and projected him to be the better player moving forward. They also invested a high pick in Smith and need to find out if he can play.

It probably is, but it still doesn't make much sense to me. If Reddick was a free agent and they didn't want to sign him and pursued Huff that would be one thing. But they don't save a ton of money this season by trading Reddick I don't believe. So do they really think that paying Reddick is going to work out so horribly for them that they'd prefer to eat into their cap room this season by signing his replacement... where instead they could have just kept Reddick and used the money for Huff to improve other areas of the team. They're essentially paying their cap space for a lateral move at best and probably to downgrade at the position for 2024. They'd only do that if they thought that Reddick is going to completely fall off a cliff, and they'd only think Reddick will completely fall off a cliff if they became paranoid after Bradberry. Or are overreacting to the last month of the season.

And if they could get a 2nd rounder for him I'd understand it a lot more. But trading the guy for a 3rd or a 4th doesn't do much for you. This season has Super Bowl aspirations. If they kept him, they could still use Huff in the role that he's used to and proven to be good at for one season. Playing about half the snaps. With Graham being older, they could still find plenty of snaps for Smith. And then after 2024 is over they can decide if they want to move on from Reddick or Sweat or both and if so, then hand the reins over to Huff and Nolan. But in a in a year of this magnitude, to trade your best defensive player away for a lower value pick under no circumstance seems like a smart decision to me. It's way overthinking the situation.

And considering no teams wanted to pay Reddick 2 years ago when he was a free agent, I find it hard to believe a team would pay him now that he's older. So it'll be an even bigger kick to the groin when they trade the guy, and the team extends him for barely a raise than what he was making now and everyone is like wtf.

So no happy ending?

Didn’t an NFL Brazil account post something about it being eagles/steelers? I would bet on that.

Trading Reddick at this point just seems kinda dumb. Obviously they brought Huff in to be more than situational, but it feels as though they're going to dump a premium pass rusher for peanuts.

Anything less than a 2nd is a losing trade, and packaging him and a 2nd to get into the late 20s is not good value either.

yeah that doesnt look good for him staying.

"Tis just an elaborate April Fool's joke.

Pickett is definitely a real Eagles fan…ok I changed my mind I’m on board with the trade now

NFL continues to do things to alienate the average fan, in the pursuit of the almighty dollar.

Equally dumb... and equally a slap in the face of the average fan.

"Older than 28?" Reddick will be 30 in September and would be getting big money at 31 and 32 years old on an extension.

For a tier 1 pass rusher thats fine

for an rb with a gazillion carries? Not smart

Well if reddick demands an extension that they dont want to pay…

Ill call a Reddick trade to Arizona for Budda Baker and Zach Pascal.

That seems unlikely.   But, I'd be very happy with that return.

I think the major safety move is done with CJGJ.  Howie is probably happy with him, Brown, and Blankenship…I don’t see another major move this offseason.  They may draft one in the later rounds.

Only a poorly run team would keep Reddick at this point. We have Nolan Smith and Bryce Huff.

they might not have to pay another $15-20 Million on Reddick if they get rid of him.  He wpuld get a big comp pick if he left in FA.   He should get a pretty big pick because the team getting him would get the comp pick.  Generally speaking,  replacing a more expensive player with a cheaper player results in more money to spend on more players,  or more money to save or reserve for a later time.  I don't know what they're going to do.

Maybe there are so many new LBs because they're going to do that versatility thing,  and give a lot of the LBs snaps on offense generally as blockers.  Who was the JJAW or Pascal of last year?

Ras compare as WR -  Oren Burks v JJAW   (Burks much better)

They're all much better.  Those LBs the Eagles got are combine winners who were doing a bunch of things on offense in high school.  Defense is generally going to put up jaw dropping combine win numbers more than offense.  Nolan, Ben, Zack, Devin, Reddick, Oren, Dean - that's 7 LBs  all in the general range of 6'0 to 6'3 and 225 to 240.   That's a good size for a big WR, a big RB,  small FB, small TE.  And those guys won the combine in a defense way.  These guys have numbers like Barkley,  who has great great numbers, well remembered from the combine.  It's more rare for RBs to have those numbers than LBs.
